In Colorado, We Are Entering a Stoned New World

We are entering a Stoned New World here, as Colorado entrepreneurs come up with new ways to make money in the new… ah… atmosphere… of tolerance. It’s also an interesting test case for longtime proponents of legalization such as myself, to see what happens when perfect theory encounters an imperfect world. Our first stumbling block is that the state-sponsored growers and sellers cartels have kept prices artificially high (no pun intended), so we still have a black market for the green herb. That also means, as we’ve discussed here before, that tax revenues are not meeting expectations.

Ballot initiative for NV in the 2016 (s)elections. Sold as a means to "regulate and tax" marijuana. Guess in order to tax it you gotta make it legal. "Don't drink and drive." "Make it home, don't get stoned." Possible traffic violations for going 150 on I-80. 150 ft/hr that is.

"Artificially" high? The market is what the market will bear. Who in their right mind ever thought that pot would be cheap to buy legally especially since it's being taxed? Are cigarettes cheap? Legalization is and was a bad high idea pushed and sold by leftists.

Remember the scene in Taxi when Jim smoked pot for the first time?

This may be the perfect way to keep liberals under control as long as they don’t try to drive.

Opiate of the masses? They show up to vote for legalization once, get what they want from the surge of voter interest x 1, then never show up again.

My view is that legal grass will be like casinos and lotteries.

Way too much gravy for state legislators to resist.

Get in early and grab the dough from the surrounding states.

“Keep ‘em stoned and ‘tax the hell’ out of ‘em”. - The politician’s creed.

There is a company that has been in Colorado for 20 years, and was called The Green Herb. Herbal supplements, health consultations, Chiropractic, things like that.

This year, they had to change their name to New Genesis Health, because too many people mistook the old name for a pot dispensary.

Once marijuana is legalized it’s only a matter of time until growing your own is also legal. Just like making your own beer, wine or liquor. The revenues will plummet to nothing. Even potheads can figure this out.

That’s true, but it’s still a fair amount of work.
Which slackers tend to avoid.

Home brewing hasn’t put brewers out of business.

Bible Scripture makes it crystal clear that in these final days of this dying world that drugs will be huge among people. That people will simply be drug induced zombies. It’s here and coming faster.

Mr. Green may not find any problems but with edibles this stuff is so powerful it is putting people into the hospital.

Even a NY liberal journalist who is well known to FREEPERS came here and was practically paralyzed for days in Denver after eating a piece of a brownie.

I can’t think of her name.

Was it Maureen Dowd or Tina Brown?

I’m waiting to hear of the first encounter by cops with people selling “loosies” joints.

The Colorado marijuana law will be on the ballot again, this time for repeal.

A very astute, conservative, attorney in Denver has a daily talk show. He is going to be a prime moving force when the repeal occurs.

Colorado voters will repeal it by a significant margin when this happens.

Yep and throw in free abortion on demand if needed, society has one less problem. Put them in abandoned buildings to smoke and enjoy life.

Substitute the word booze for pot in this thread. Makes little difference.

Growing pot is easy and will become common, I lived in such a household and the guy did next to nothing growing the plants, but made plenty of extra cash, the plants were outdoors. None of us wanted to do all the work required to make beer, and we sure didn’t want to do it forever and constantly, as it was I stayed out of the pot thing and would not even handle a sell if he wasn’t home, I just told people that I wasn’t involved and to come back later, I wouldn’t even water the plants for him.

Gardening is much more common and casual than making batches of beer.

The strange thing about this house was that the plants were out front, the old people neighbors would comment on his beautiful plants, and the sheriffs never seemed to notice them although they were right there, and the sheriff’s would occasionally come up to serve a warrant or something, (we were a little wild and overly active at the time).
