Hello all. Sitting here at home and wondering if anyone else out there is spending this evening alone.
On this night of all nights when families gather and friends share gifts and time, some of us are, for various reasons, spending Christmas Eve solo.
Not necessarily a bad thing - alone doesn't always mean lonely. But, it does mean alone.
Check in if that includes any of you, my fellow Freepers.
I am beginning to think there are many families like that. Mine is too. What is wrong with people? Possessions mean little but we would have liked to have a few of our family’s things as keepsakes for the younger members. I told my daughter, grandkids and nieces to start writing down memories of my parents so we can print it for the younger ones. We all have wonderful memories of them and most are different. Merry Christmas.

What a great thread....and you’re right nobody’s alone...in fact there are some here with others who might be better off being alone!
Am festivating here and loving the hours thinking of this special night...two cats all curled up on the sofa and wonderful smells of the Holiday in the air.
Such a sense of anticipation! I have presents to open sent from family in Florida! Yes!
Wow, 22 years! I’m always surprised when marriages of that duration end. Was it alcohol, depression... you said you had a meltdown? I’m glad the VA helps our vets, current or retired.

Me, I’m happy with what’s mine that I earned and don’t want anything I didn’t earn, so I’m at peace and tomorrow I’m going up-lake (our huge lake is dried up), admire God’s work with our planet, Holly berries on white branches, winter greens that sprout up, foxes and coyotes, get away from these awful humans.

I am in the armchair after cleaning up from the pre-church dinner and the after-church dessert course. Everyone else is in bed. A woman's work is never done.
I’m having pork chops! Rather unusual for Holiday but I’m up for them....went to the deli today and bought all the trimmings so I don’t have to cook alot..just the chops.
Am pigging out on snacks and munchies tonight....

No, I’m the only adult in charge and I can’t leave. Maybe after the little one falls asleep I can step out and stare at the stars. Plus I don’t think it would be right to just hang out at the minimart with the Armenian or Arab clerk... Sitting there beside his wall of condoms and chewing tobacco.... I would rather be alone watching Christmas Story here.

This is my first without DrO who passed away on my birthday in May.
I'm completely thankful that my grandson from the Cayman's is here with me.

As bad as the VA was, and is, to my brothers and sisters, it did pull me through the absolute worst time of my life.
