Greece demands 279bn(Euros) from Germany in Nazi War Reparations
UK Telegraph ^ | 4-7-2015 | Mehreen Khan

Greece has demanded nearly €279bn in reparations from Germany, more than the value of its current bail-out, as the cash-strapped country continues to pursue compensation for crimes carried out by the Third Reich.

A parliamentary committee established by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras put an official number on the claim, which includes the cost of a forced Nazi loan made by the Bank of Greece and the return of archaeological treasures.

Greece suffered a brutal occupation at the hands of the Third Reich in 1941, with over 40,000 people starving to death in Athens alone.

SNIP---

Berlin moved to quickly to reject the fresh claims. Vice chancellor Sigmar Gabriel described the proposal as "dumb" and said it risked conflating Greece's current debt problems with historical grievances.

“If you bring two areas that have nothing to do with one another, both heavily burdened issues politically, into a single context, then you make it damned easy for those from whom you want something simply to exit the debate and say ‘you can’t do that’,” said Mr Gabriel.

Greece is now officially demanding that the Germans pay them $300 Billion Dollars in War Reperations, just as a huge debt payment is due to the IMF/ECB. Funny how that works, isn't it?

It is also being reported that Greece may drop sanctions against Russia. How long until we start seeing "Greek" (meaning Polish) apples on Russian streets again?

I think this is funny. Its really indicative of how governments act when in crisis - just like fools and petulant children.

Just another reason not to trust governments to have your interests at heart - ever.

Lol, color me surprised. A third world basket-case excuse for a country is demanding more welfare.

I don’t want any of Americas’s money going to Greece. We need to get out of the “World bank”. That is where they funnel your grandchildren’s money to worthless people sitting on their A$$.

actually it was never paid.

Consider all the ww ii looting that occurred. (woman in gold etc)

You also had Germany deflating greek bonds, buying them and then inflating them demanding returns based on their insider manipulations.

in this country a bond dealer would go to jail.

They should demand at least an equal amount from Iran. After all the Persians under Xerxes did a number on them awhile back.

They should call Tim Misney: He’ll Make Them Pay!

Know what?

I knew American citizens who spent the war in Greece terrified to admit they were American because you know what would have happened.

Germany was given a second chance by the U.S. and Britain and no reparations were exacted because of Versailles and its role in starting the second war.

Considering what the Germans did to the rest of Europe and its populace, they can damn well work for 1000 years in reparation. To this day they’re still mad they didn’t win.

With a bit of research one can find that Germany already paid Greece 115M Marks back in 1960 which was accepted as compensation. Seems to me the bill has been paid.

Greece ought to be booted from the EU and allowed to drop into third world status as they deserve.

One could say that the utter destruction of Germany, the leveling of all of its’ major cities and the slaughter of a large percentage of its’ population was a form of payment if only as deserved retribution.

At some point we have to let history be history. We can not right every wrong.

Let God sort it out.
