LAS VEGAS (AP) Hillary Rodham Clinton intends to draw an early distinction with Republicans on illegal immigration, pointing to a pathway to citizenship as an essential part of any overhaul in Congress.
Clinton was laying the foundation of her immigration agenda Tuesday in her first stop in Nevada since launching her presidential campaign. After years of delays in Congress, Latinos and immigration activists are watching Clinton's statements closely for signs of how she might break a legislative logjam on immigration and whether she would extend President Barack Obama's executive actions to shield millions of immigrants from deportation.
"We hope that she leans in and really issues a challenge on the issue," said Clarissa Martínez-De-Castro, deputy vice president of the National Council of La Raza.
Clinton, a Democrat, has backed Obama's unsuccessful pitch for a comprehensive immigration overhaul, including a pathway to citizenship for immigrants in the country illegally, and supported his announcement last year halting deportations of certain immigrants.

Or is it rob-out?
I’m thinking she’s thinking it’s the only way she could win now. She’ll be all on Obama to give them illegal Mexicans IDs good enough to vote (in time for 2016 elections).
This, plus advocating gun control, ought to assure Herself a resounding defeat and subsequent obscurity.
Go for it, Hildebeast.
However, that DOES presume that the eventual (R) candidate doesn’t jump on board the same train. Being the stupid party, we can’t count on them to have a clue.
Yeah, give them the right to vote so the Democrats can solidify their political power through promising to steal ever more tax dollars to fund government dependence. All the Chamber of Commerce types care about is cheap labor to drive out the mom and pop businesses.
We already have this, it is called legal immigration.
Hopefully she’ll be yelling it from behind bars.
Yes. She's throwing hail mary passes in the first quarter, desperate to keep the discussion away from her.
Who needs IDs? It will soon be against the law to even ask voters for an ID.
Hillary....haven't you caught on yet? The party booted you the last time and they're doing it again.
And if you don't know it yet...you're going to lose to a man...except this time he's white and quite good looking. Ask Bubba how he won...ah....the women's vote.
Voila!! No one wants grandma for president.
I’m waiting for the first major candidate to simply call for citizenship for all and no border controls. After all, the entire world has suffered under the free capitalist boot of the US and all should be entitled to come here and take whatever they want...
And what will her Republican counterpart propose? The return of the privilege of birth and naturalized citizenship? A return to the rule of law? No. The Republican will call for a partial and selective path to citizenship. He’ll cut Clinton’s proposal in half. Nobody gets anything out of that. We don’t, they don’t. At least with Clinton somebody get something. Can you see why we keep losing?
So much for the Rule of Law. In fact, when it comes to immigration a person is penalized for following the law.
Those people who fill out the proper immigration requests in their home countries, and then wait...I guess those people are fools.
EQUAL means they get deported and have to come in LEGALLY, Beyotch! (Hillary, that is)
In another brilliant move, the Republican will “take her issue away” by advocating a watered down version of it. She’ll go even further to the left, and win.
y’all come...Girlfriend’s got plenty of room on her Westchester County property...
and plenty of money to buy tacos and churros for 30 Million...
Did anyone not see this coming?
She just beat the GOP to the punch, is all.
She seems to be happy with nothing less than a wink-wink at their status as intruders. If not altogether cutting in front of those who bothered to do it legally.
I hope the GOP comes up with something wiser than “me too.”
