You voted for him regardless. You have no excuse.
“why would Cruz suddenly reverse course on all he believes in to vote for this bill?”
Only reason I can come up with is closed-door meetings and secret this and don’t tell them that - legislating in the dark rather than in public, is mighty heady, powerful stuff. That’s why the closer anyone gets to Washington, the more compromised they become. Just the thought of all that power, of becoming a “royal”, of walking the halls of unaccountability - it changes everyone. You’re in or you’re out. Screw the unwashed masses - they’re just grist for the mill anyhow. Cruz sees his cut in it all if it passes, and what he can do later.
Like all of them. I don’t trust any of them. Rationalizing it to explain what’s happening won’t fix the problem, which is throwing America under the bus of the global dictatorship. Sigh. I liked Cruz.
z taxman seems to be a libertarian, he thinks that he is smoothly working us.
Nope, I just told you to stand by Reagan’s 80% figure. Unless Ronnie is now to be ignored.
Smooth as 30 grit emory cloth.
Agreed. Why else would he vote for this monstrosity? He should have been up there at the podium with Jeff Sessions and Rand Paul denouncing this thing, but I guess Cruz is bought and paid for by his donors. It’s the only reason he would support this.
agreed. I’m getting flustered because there are so many articles for and against the agreement. I don’t think Cruz would vote for something that is so bad for the country. or perhaps he thinks he will be pres when it takes effect and will do the right things for us.
Cruz is supremely wrong on this. But his positives still keep him well above Reagan’s cutoff. Thats all that matters.
Well Walker has no voting impact on it passing. He cant vote on it. Cruz voted for it.
Black marks for both of them on this one.
I believe the Federal government ought to be neutered, not empowered. If that makes me some sort of liberaltarian in your eyes, go fly a kite.
I don’t practice hypocrisy, unlike others I could name. Of course I voted for Romney. He knows how to run a business. Unfortunately the idiot in the White House doesn’t. Between two choices, I picked the right one, did you?
Cruz is turning out to be a disappointment. Too silent on key issues, now seeing true colors of him supporting undermining the US, immigration, etc. Confirms his previous positions in favor of amnesty. I’m afraid he’s playing us for fools. I have donated substantially to his campaign. I think I want my money back.
He’s an obvious Paulestinian, a stoner and a retread. That’s all I’m saying.
I understand where everyone is coming from on this issue. it is a divisive one.
but I have to have faith in Cruz on this one. after him, what is left? Paul? Carson? huck?
I hope that if this bill turns out not to be the horror many say it is, they will come back to Ted.
That's true.
What Cruz voted for was to let Obama negotiate the TPP, stipulating that the final result will be aired out for 60 days and then voted up or down by Congress (as opposed to being subject to endless amendments, which, in turn, would need to be approved by the other international signatories a recipe for failure).
Note that law isn't made until and unless Congress votes to approve the final TPP. Enabling legislation may also be required it's an agreement, not a treaty.
So, by voting for TPA, aka Fast Track, Cruz is taking a flyer that Obama will produce a useful trade agreement.
If he does, then the Republican Congress will approve it. If not, if Zero proves unable to resist the temptation to lard it up with Progressive nonsense, then Congress will can it, and we can wait until 2017 to negotiate a real trade agreement.
Cruz explains the process to Hugh Hewitt.
Sure you do. You voted for an open liberal that spent his career hating Reagan, screwing conservatives and funding abortion, and now say a guy with an otherwise solid record on conservative issues isn’t good enough.
Pure hypocrisy unless you are a liberal. Words mean things.
It is a strike against him, but you don’t have to decide who you are going to vote for right now. This bill may die out in the House. Wait and listen to all the candidates. Then choose. Some you can write off right away. But if you liked Cruz before, just wait and see. There are a few worth watching. They will probably all make mistakes.
I like him a little less than I did over this and one other issue which I won’t bring up here. So he moved down my list a little. I’m not writing him off completely yet. Time will tell us more about all of them.
The man who wrote this article is wrong.
Cruz has explained his positions in all important areas including, in detail, the TPA trade bill and the secret TPP bill. Regarding the TPP secret bill, he has read it and it will be public for 60 days before they vote on it. That info. is at the approximate 50 minute point in his speech in Mass.
I urge everyone to listen to his very long speech and answering audience questions. You will know exactly where he stands on every important issue. Here is the link:

Wait until you listen to HIM before you dump him based on trashy reporting.
I am heartbroken about his loss of support because of this bill. I wish he never voted for it simply because of that reason.
people are forgetting about isis and their acquiring uranium, and the IRS, and the debt, and the loss of freedom, and the 2nd amendment being torn apart.
