Bakers who refused to make lesbian wedding cake told to pay $135K by Monday -- or else
Fox News ^ | 7/8/2015 | Todd Starnes

Two Christian bakers who refused to bake a cake for a lesbian wedding have been ordered to pay $135,000 in damages by July 13 or else the state of Oregon could place a lien on their home.

Aaron and Melissa Klein, the owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, were punished by the state’s Bureau of Labor and Industry (BOLI) for unlawfully discriminating against a same-sex couple.

The Kleins, who are devout evangelical Christians, argued that baking the cake would be a violation of their religious beliefs.

The BOLI ruling ordered the mom-and-pop bakers to pay $135,000 to the lesbian couple. They were also slapped with a gag order that prohibits them from speaking publicly about their refusal to participate in or bake wedding cakes for same-sex unions.

And now - they have until July 13 to pay the damages or else face additional fines and a possible lien on their home.

They should quickly do a quit claim deed to a relative to get out from homeownership.

They need to get out of the country. First people to ever FLEE the United States for religious persecution.

And go where? Unless they want go to some third world or Muslim cesspool just about every country out there has laws protecting homosexuals that are more liberal than those in the U.S.

The home should’ve been sold and the cash hidden a long time ago.

I doubt they ever thought their actions would have the penalties they've had.

Glad their not backing down and Avakian needs to be thrown in prison.

...

That may not be how the lien works. In some states the lien wouldn’t have to be satisfied until the home was sold. They can also apply for a stay on the fine until they are finished with their appeal.

Fascism has finally arrived in America. This is just the beginning. Ban the Confederate flag? I no longer fly the AMERICAN flag.

Years ago before they got their civil unions I did not care about homosexuals. Do what you want in your private bedroom was my motto.

After they had civil unions they wanted marriage and that is when I was pissed off with tem. Since then they have been pushing their agenda and sickness onto the country.

Civil unions, the marriage, then adoption, then teach it in schools, then get rid of the words husband and wife.

All the time suing, beating preachers up in the street, defacing churches, disrupting Church services etc.

The only way they can distinguish themselves form us is how they have their sex. Because of that they think special laws should be given to them while the Constitution and the founding of the country should be ignored.

There are places in South America that are Christian-friendly *and* have very nice communities for expats.

A few days ago, Seahawks QB Russell Wilson said that he and his celebrity girlfriend (Ciara) had agreed to a no-sex-before-marriage agreement. You should have heard the mockery on the local sports radio show. They just couldn't let it go.

And a sports radio guy in the Midwest suggested Wilson must be a closet homosexual. (I doubt HE was fired.)

But do you think they would have said anything if Wilson had cited his MUSLIM faith as the reason for avoiding pre-marital sex? Those cowards wouldn't have said a word.

As a teen I had a boss that was homosexual. All of us kids knew it and certainly none of us held it against him. He was a good man, didn’t prance around or any of that non-sense.

Sex of any sort was not to be discussed by any of us, it’s not a topic for public discussion. He said it was bad manners to openly talk sex. Jokes were out, too.

I often wonder what he thinks of how things have turned out. He was a father figure for some of us (I was one)and he would do anything to help us out and he couldn’t stand a liar. You could screw up but just don’t lie about it.

Avakian is clearly an evil, satanic man, a bully and a sadist. A fascist at heart. He would have been one of those sneering, mocking Nazis asking the Jews “Where is your God now?” as he forced them to the edge of the pits and gunned them down.

In my bake shop the sign would say “Wedding Cakes: $100,000 (but feel free to bargain with us)”

If I make a wedding cake for a certain couple for $50, well, they were very shrewd bargainers.

If I refuse to come down from $100,000 for another couple, I’m not a hater. I’m greedy.

Isn’t there a law against excessive punishment for a crime?

The face of fascism:

Facebook Page

I notice his daughter is an aspiring actress opening in a play in NYC. Freeping may be in order. This is about families, one in Oregon is going to be homeless, his is NY should not be advancing their career on the backs of Christian patriots.

Evil, corrupt despicable government....in the same state that is now going to let 15 year olds have sex change surgery, with no parental consent, and paid for by the tax payers.

Having said that, here is a take from Franklin Graham that indicates maybe the Kleins didn't quite apply the scripture correctly... "In fact, it may surprise some to learn that I think every business should be gay-friendly. By that I mean businesses — like individuals — should be friendly to everyone, customers and citizens, even if or when we disagree with them." If you don't like it, take it up with Franklin.

what the lesson for business is that queers sue. it doesn’t matter for what.

dealing with queers is likely to produce a law suit regardless of what you do

There's no defense for the gaystapo or the Oregon judge here, NONE AT ALL.

BUT just consider this for a second in light of your valid point: maybe say yes....and then they'll go on down the road to another bakery anyway, because as YOU said - they want to sue. They don't really want the cake. Is this really so hard?

I would add that there's also no example anywhere in the New Testament of Jesus refusing to be around sinners. In fact, quite the opposite. Same with Paul.

Look, if you want to challenge tyrants, fine. But first be absolutely sure of your defenses, and minimize your vulnerabilities.

At the very start, they should have sold their business, major assets and home to a trusted person who lives out of state, then continued to work live there on a normal lease. And all other assets and money should be out of state and secured in such a way that they cannot be seized.

Especially the money sent to their legal defense needs to be in a secure location outside of the grasp of these tyrants.

And they cannot just play defense. They must become very litigious, both against the tyrant and against the homosexuals who started this. Drag all of them into court again and again, to make them sweat and pay lots of money to lawyers.

While the tyrant might be able to get support from taxpayer money, the two homosexuals could be impoverished and put deeply into debt.

And if at any time the tyrant or the homosexuals don’t show up, ask for a summary judgment against them, and ask for a contempt of court citation, which could put them in jail until they pay the judgment. Modern debtors’ court, which is used a lot by debt collection agencies.
