Trump’s mother born in England, naturalized before Donald was born.

Nope. Born in Scotland.

Sotomayor claims she’s Catholic too, so that makes (6) six.

Presbyterian? They are the ones who made it possible for Parliament to win the English Civil War.

There are six Roman Catholics currently serving on the court (Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy, John Roberts, Antonin Scalia, Sonia Sotomayor, and Clarence Thomas) and three Jews (Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Elena Kagen).

I would fall on my knees and thank God if that were true. However, what we have is actually this:

Alito and Scalia as Catholics
Thomas as Christian
The rest as people who may have been raised to believe in God, but are God-knows-what now.

Yes, because it makes more sense than introducing and continuing the new American tradition of national suicide by immigration. Capiche?

This ‘priest’ egghead does not know what or who a ‘Nativist’ is, because he has never met one.

Here I am, baby, 100%, and I can assure you i do NOT fit your ivory white tower catholic paradigm.

Bluntly, if you were not born in this country, and born under any other flag and ideology on the face of this planet, you are an immigrant, period.

During those happy days decades ago when I taught American religious history to university students, I spent a chunk of time in class on the ugly phenomenon called nativism, defined by the scholar and author Ray Allen Billington as, “organized, white, Protestant antagonism toward the Catholic immigrant.”

Cardinal Dolan is making a stretch by equating legal immigration with illegal aliens. Please do not get these definitions mixed up!

The Protestant antagonism toward Catholic immigrates does NOT exist. It has been gone for more than fifty years!

It is Patriotism, not ‘American Tradition’ of Nativism.

not according to wikipedia and many other information sites.

all the sites I can find list 6 Catholics and 3 Jews.

Which is pretty amazing when you think about it. 52% of the US is protestant, but not a SINGLE justice of the supreme court is.

“There are six Roman Catholics currently serving on the court.... Yep, a lot of bias going on here in America! against PROTESTANTS!!!!”

Protestant presidents who nominate non-Protestants to the SC are extremely biased.

Freegards

I am disgusted (but not surprised) that Cardinal Dolan took the time to write about illegal immigration.

Four videos have come out showing absolute atrocities taking place at Planned Parenthood. The Supreme Court ruled that so called gay marriage is now legal. And THIS is what bothers Dolan? 50% of Catholics voted for "God bless Planned Parenthood" Barack Obama. You´d think that Dolan would use the bully pulpit to educate the flock!

It´s not just Dolan. It´s crickets from every US bishop on the millions of dead babies. They bishops should be getting their well padded, pampered butts on TV and exhorting the flock to get on their knees and pray.

Planned Parenthood and gay marriage are "too political" for US bishops, and illegal immigration is not.

God help them, they are letting the sheep that they are supposed to lead be led by wolves.

If Dolan cared about "the poor," he wouldn't be shutting down dozens and dozens of parochial schools which are poor kids' only hope.

How I wish New York still had John O'Connor! Heck, how I wish they still had "Daggar John" Hughes! BTW, ifinnegan, Trump describes himself as "proud to be Presbyterian". If that makes any difference.
