It isn’t unrelated to race/color; yesterday was the first of the month, and the supermarkets & Wal-Mart in my town were filled with the same ethnic groups (from Newark & Jersey City) flocking to spend my money on their food (their own areas are “food deserts” - because they make it impossible to operate businesses in them).
There is a cultural vacuum that can’t be ignored; while as someone of Irish descent I’m no fan of England, I can appreciate the WASP order they brought to both Ireland & the US. What we are seeing is the result of that order being overthrown...

After Venezuela established a Deputy Ministry of Supreme Social Happiness I thought that everything would be just fine. I thought all the U.S. celebrities would flock to Venezuela to enjoy the benefits of vulture socialism and avoid the racism, sexism and homophobia. Unfortunately the running dogs of the capitalist roaders hogged all the toilet paper. These riots are perfectly understandable.

The point of this is not really that socialism sucks. We know that. What we need to really learn and remember forever is how much suffering the people in government can cause and tolerate in the citizens in order to stay in power. Never will these people admit they are incompetent and step down.
