If you are a stockholder, yes. People who home-school their kids are still required to pay that portion of their property taxes that go to fund schools.
logical. Homeschoolers pay the same taxes so they should be allowed to partake in the same benefit. (I wonder if private school students can do the same if their school has no sport program)
Their parents pay their taxes to support the public schools, and their kids are of age. If they live in the district, they should be able to participate.

There’s a good chance these kids are going to overhear some ungodly talk while in the locker room.
I guess that’s a lot better than classroom indoctrination though.
I think there’s a crucial difference between these two concepts.
The children of taxpayers are qualified to attend these schools and have access to their athletic programs. If they wish to opt in, they should be able to, participating in the school education process or not.
The owners of stock are never qualified to get top executive salaries or benefits. I don’t believe there is any supporting reason for them to be able to opt in.
We’re talking two different types of situations here. I don’t see a way to compare them favorably.
I think it was a fun suggestion, but I don’t see more than that in it.
Personally? No, I ain't played high-school football since 1981.
Just seems like folks that disdain a whole system ought not to be able to pick and choose parts they like.
If they hate the school.. then hell no they shouldn't be on that school's team.
In Wisconsin, private schools can co-op with any other school to let their students play a sport they don’t offer.
Home schooled kids could participate in other extracurriculars in public schools for years.

We’ve been doing this in Florida for years. Good for Wisconsin.
Without a doubt.
But they think they are better.. stronger, faster.. and they hate the school.
Tell me.. would you want someone on your team that HATES the team?
Would you hire someone that hates your business? Would you like
to be FORCED to do so, because they pay taxes in your district?
Then get out of those parents’ wallets. See how this works?
One doesn’t have to hate the local public school to wish to avail oneself of a better educational outcome via homeschooling.
