Ted Cruz's responses at the 1st GOP Debate

Ted Cruz responses at the 1st GOP Debate

I believe, more and more, that Ted Cruz should be our next President.

Although I like a lot of what Trump is saying, and I like the way he is taking on the Media and the establishment (but Cruz does the same). My concern with Trump is his disposition. In essence, it's this:

Even if Trump does some things I may believe in, I believe he would not hesitate to violate the constitution to do so.

It does not matter what side of the political divide you are on...if you violate the constitution you are not a friend of the Republic because the power will consume you and sooner or later you will do things that hurt us all. I believe he would step on the Constitution. I believe he would not hesitate to do so.

Now, if it comes to it, I would certainly vote for Trump over Hillary.

But I know this. Ted Cruz is a principled constitutionalist, conservative, and Christian man with a proven record to back all of that up. He is my first choice.

Right now I am supporting him for President.

They totally misread and ignored the true message behind their historic win in November 2014. It will be their end.

I don’t think Donald Trump really believes half of what he says.

Thanks. The good Lord has blessed me richly, despite the disabilities left over from the cancer and the major surgeries to remove it. ALl in all, I am doing much better than they expected.

I had some radiation treatments last year for three small spots in my hip bones that were there from the beginning. They are growing, but Chordoma in the bone grows very slowly. So after four years they treated it. I will find out in September if it retarded or stopped that growth.

Thanks for your prayers and faith. I can tell you that every prayer of faith, sincerely, offered, helps. God hears and He answers.

I believe that we have some very good candidates...we also have some RINOs and some not so good.

Trump is stirring the pot vigorously and that is a good thing too.

I have decided that right now, Cruz is the one to get behind. I pray he will get through the primaries and win the nomination.

I am praying he will, and will work, the utmost of my ability to help.

"Unfortunately Trump would violate the constitution as readily as Obama has done."

Bingo.

If one can discern the political leanings of a moderator, they do not belong in the moderator's seat.

This was not a presidential debate.

This was a forum in which to ridicule those on stage for the benefit of the DNC, the political wing of the national media.

Amen to you each. I pray we can help Senator Cruz through the primaries, to win the nomination, and then to carry that to victory next November!

I agree. He is a cut above when it comes to articulating the conservative position, when it comes to understanding the constitution, when it comes to a track record, and many other areas.

I believe Walker has done some very good things in Wisconsin that we could use on the national scene, but he does not have to communication skills, and his overall track record is not as good.

If Cruz does win, he will have a number of very ood choices for VP and then for his cabinet.

Same here. Cruz right now is the one I’ll support past him it’s distant seconds and lot’s more of “there’s no way I’ll ever vote for him” choices. Trump’s past actions before running for POTUS have me worried. While he’s talking a Conservative talk I’m not sure he would stay the course. And I agree this is not a corporate board room where CEO can make up rules this is a Constitutional Republic and even Trump should abide within it’s words.

Understand that Texas quit school on account of recess, we just don’t play. Ya just gotta quit looking through those Waco biker sympathy glasses.

W, like all the Bushes are strongly influenced by Mama, who was never very conservative. W was a pretty good Governor, because he didn’t step in any deep cowpies and did harm to the Yeller Dog dems. He would have done more pushback against the liberals at POTUS had it not been for 911.

I think Trump has taken Cruz’s ideology and made it bigger than the media would ever give Cruz time to speak. If you have listened to Cruz over the years, you know that he is the MOST SOLID of conservatives out there. However, Trump only has to show face somewhere and he is given immediate pubic attention. I pray that MANY begin to see that Trump is a Johnny-come-lately to many of these positions. I liked Trump’s manifesto, but on many of those issues he is a “new believer” f he is a convert to them at all, and not just saying what he knows people want to hear. But he one who has been there all along is Cruz!

Even if Trump does some things I may believe in, I believe he would not hesitate to violate the constitution to do so.

While I certainly believe Trump would ignore the "case law" constitution, I have no reason to believe he would violate the Spirit of the Constitution.

Many of us forget, or never knew, "separation of Church and State" as currently construed was NEVER the intent of the First Amendment, as are MANY of our modern doctrines.

I can imagine he'd take the "commerce clause" as modernity has chosen to take it for obvious reasons, but it also would not surprise me if he pulled an Obama on enforcement, or FDR attitude if it became troublesome.

Jeff, you are a remarkable man. I consider it an honor to be able to make your acquaintance, if only through reading your post.

As regards Ted Cruz, I made up mind to "rate" the candidates with a personal criteria that would include the qualities of persistence, faithfulness, honesty, respectfulness, knowledge and honor. I made it a point to find a candidate who can stand up to an impeccable scrutiny of his entire history, both personal and public. My findings are that only two make the grade. Ted Cruz is first and Ben Carson is second. What a "dream team" these two men would make. (From my lips to God's ear.)

Watch all of his answers.
That picture is difficult to look at with that hangdog, feigned look of concern or sincerity...

My wife watched the debate (I didn't). She says he's unappealing, even creepy looking.

That’s a terrible reason to support or oppose any candidate.

Question #1: Senator Cruz, you suck and you’re divisive. Why should we elect someone who sucks and is divisive?

Question #2: Senator Cruz, I have my head so far up my arse that I want to ask you whether or not you support legislation that you actually authored.

Question #3: Reasonable question about foreign policy. Stupid follow-up about the enemies feeeeeeelings.

Question #4: Senator Cruz, I’d like to ask you a question about Cyber warfare to which it will be nearly impossible to gain any ground. We’ve edged you out on Obamacare, so here’s this dud of a question.

Question #5: Senator Cruz, here is a snarky question about God. Please try to embarrass yourself in the eyes of the secularist people of the United States. (To which he gave a brilliant answer.)

Then his closing statement, which was a ridiculous 30 seconds. He tried to outline aspects of his agenda, but was cut off so quick, he only got through a few items.
