At Bloomberg, Sahil Kapur explains that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 96% disagrees with Donald Trump about legal immigration:
Though Cruzs get-tough attitude on illegal immigration certainly matches Trumps, the two men differ vastly on policies involving legal immigration. While the real estate moguls plan calls for a swath of protectionist measures to curb legal immigration, Cruz has championed anexpansion of legal immigration, arguing it would help the economy.
During the 2013 immigration debate, the Texas senator proposed an amendment to the comprehensive gang of eight Senate bill that he boasted would dramatically increas[e] the annual limit on H-1B skilled guest worker visas from65,000 to 325,000a five-fold expansion. ...............

I wish I could find the speech Cruz gave about his increase on the floor of the senate. I remember him listing stipulations and noting that the democrats would likely reject them.
It's sad to see a long time Freeper debase herself. You are losing all your credibility pimping for a lying GOPe uniparty pol.
One of the few areas I freely admit I disagree with Cruz on.
92 million Americans out of the work force.
Santorum has been saying that we need to limit H1B visas as well along with a reduction of at least 25% in legal immigration.
Asked about what to do with the people here illegally, however, he stressed that he had never tried to undo the goal of allowing them to stay.
The amendment that I introduced removed the path to citizenship, but it did not change the underlying work permit from the Gang of Eight, he said during a recent visit to El Paso. Mr. Cruz also noted that he had not called for deportation or, as Mitt Romney famously advocated, self-deportation.
Mr. Cruz said recent polling indicated that people outside Washington support some reform, including legal status without citizenship. He said he was against naturalization because it rewarded lawbreakers and was unfair to legal immigrants. It also perpetuates illegal crossings, he added.
Besides barring citizenship while instituting some level of legalization for those here already, Mr. Cruz has proposed increasing the number of green cards awarded annually, to 1.35 million from 675,000. He also wants to eliminate the per-country limit that he said left applicants from countries like Mexico, China and India hamstrung when they tried to gain legal entry to this country.
Right Cruz was also wrong on Anchor babies and now has flipp flopped when Trump said they were not citizens.
About those old stories we spoke about earlier.
Please document where Cruz has tied increases in salaries for H1b visa holders and enforcement of laws Americans must be hired first. And how enforce?
Democrats imported all these 3rd world people legally to replace us , outnumber us with leftists, to outvote us conservatives. Reduce legal and illegal immigration:It's the only way to save America to stop this invasion of leftist voters for democrats.
Trump is right on wanting to reduce legal immigration. Cruz is wrong on wanting to increase legal immigrants because they will vote for those that are against conservative policies thereby defeating them

Cruz’ H1-B position is a support killer.
How can he ask me to support a massive expansion in a program aimed directly at destroying the market value of my skills and experience?
“92 million...”
37 million over 65. There are 76.4 million boomers (born 1946-64) many of whom still work or want to, but their numbers are falling.
Pick a healthy participation rate and you will need ‘some’ immgrants to reach it.
The number of immigrants will be determined by our national interests, not the other way around. We don't have a merit based immigration system. Only 12% come here due to merit. The rest come here based on familial ties. 20% of legal immigrant heads of household lack even a high school diploma. We are importing poverty.
In December 2014 there were 18 million immigrants (legal and illegal) living in the country who had arrived since January 2000.2 But job growth over this period was just 9.3 million half of new immigration.3
Between two-thirds and three-fourths of the new arrivals are estimated to be legal immigrants.4 Of the new arrivals 89 percent were potential workers 16 and older.
Job growth has not come close to matching new immigration and natural population increase; as a result, the labor force participation rate (the share working or looking for work) of native-born Americans 16 to 65 shows a significant long-term decline.
The share of native-born Americans 16 to 65 in the labor force was 77 percent in December 2000, 75 percent in December 2007, and 72 percent in December 2014.6 The number of working-age natives not in the labor force (neither working nor looking for work) increased by 13 million from December 2000 to December 2014.7
If we look at the period after the Great Recession began, 7.8 million new immigrants arrived from 2008 to 2014, yet net job growth was just two million from the beginning of 2008 to the end of 2014.8
If we look at the period before the Great Recession, from January 2000 to December 2007, 11.1 million immigrants arrived and job growth was still only 7.3 million. In addition to the 18 million new immigrants, the native-born working-age population (ages 16 to 65) grew by 16.5 million since 2000; if we count natives over age 65, total native population growth was 25.2 million since 2000
I have a serious issue with the whole ‘skilled workers’ thing. Over time, it hurts us badly.
For years, medical schools have enforced limits on the number of doctors who they’d allow in their hallowed halls. But this has left us with a ‘doctor shortage’. Well, now we need to import doctors.
This means that American kids were denied the opportunity to get into a prestigious, skilled profession and now a *huge* portion of our specialists are foreign. I cannot count the number of Indian or African doctors who I’ve visited.
Obama-trade TPP is a Trojan horse for unlimited immigration:
Obama-GOP Trade Scheme Includes Unrestricted Immigration ....
“Sessions to House GOP: TPA a Trojan horse for executive action on immigration, climate change ...
Ditto for the Iran deal. All Senators except cotton voted for the Corker bill that made the Iran deal possible:
“Mark Levin has been shouting until he is blue in the face that this truly awful nuclear deal with Iran has been made possible only with the help of Senate Republicans, who passed a bill (99-1, with Tom Cotton of Arkansas the only sane dissenter) making it nearly impossible to stop Obama’s agreement with the ayatollahs.........

Trump was against both Obama trade and the Iran deal .
Trump is for reducing legal and illegal immigration. Only Trump can save America
Why an inability to climb out of poverty? Here is where the "politically correct" cowardice of even many Conservative politicians, comes into play. Consider the way the Heritage Foundation dropped Jason Richwine & a critical study that is very relevant. (See Jason Richwine & The Heritage Foundation.)
And won't it be interesting when Obamatrade (TPP) is finalized and comes up for consideration in Congress, in the middle of the presidential race.
Trump's presence could be the game changer.
That was 2013, this is 2015. What is Cruz’s stance now?
Personally I agree with Trump and have said it since ‘05. Shutdown all immigration until we get our house in order for 5 years. This means our border is secure and we have rounded up all the illegal aliens, including Visa overstays.
Then start the LEGAL process over again.
However, I also understand that I cannot agree 100% with a Presidential candidate on all of the issues. I have to pick my priorities and way them out.
Cruz is tough enough on ILLEGAL alien invasion
Cruz is a constitutional scholar and knows the law and will enforce it.
Cruz believes in God and is a practicing Christian.
Cruz speaks the truth about radical Islam
GO CRUZ GO and make Trump your VP
Also immigrants are taking most jobs which also tells you the flood of them we are getting into the USA. It's an invasion
“Data show that since 2000 all of the net gain in the number of working-age (16 to 65) people holding a job has gone to immigrants (legal and illegal)....
http://cis.org/all-employment-growth-since-2000-went-to-immigrants
Good. Everyone that keeps posting that Cruz wants more H1b workers leaves out that part.
