Freepers I need some help. My local CVS drugstore messed up my 6 year old daughter's prescription and when my husband went to the store to return the improperly prepared antibiotic, the pharmacist and store manager laughed about what had happened. By the Lord's grace they still have their teeth and my daughter's illness was not severe enough for her to experience a negative impact from this, other than a postponement of her getting better. I am livid and want to contact someone about this, do any of you have any knowledge of who I can contact at CVS? I want them to realize this could have been very serious and there is absolutely nothing funny about a sick child's medication being prepared incorrectly.
What was the doctor’s prescription, and what did they give her? I think you should have kept the bad bottle!
I once had a pharmacy mislabel a prescription so that it indicated I should take triple the proper dose. It was something you that you normally continue take for an unlimited period. After a week or two I began feeling very ill and happened to look up the normal dose for this medication and thus discovered the mistake. I wasn’t interested in suing or anything like that and settled for having a few months free medication. The pharmacist seemed a little surprised that that is all I wanted. As she handed me the new prescription I noticed her hands were shaking.
I’m guessing that the people who laughed at your husband were also quaking in their boots.
What is it you expect CVS to do for her?
Sure, it’s bad. No, pharmacists shouldn’t make errors like that. Yeah, they probably laughed out of embarrassment and to break the air of anger.
I have a hard time believing they didn’t apologize when fixing it.
I like your wit and I hate CVS.
Good luck
Maybe she got grape flavor instead of cherry ?
So for medications I take every day, I went with the insurance carrier's online pharmacy. That doesn't help for one time prescriptions, but if it's something you take all the time, ordering online is much easier. Don't have to drive to the drugstore and put up with shoddy service,
There is a South Carolina tag. Here’s the link for filing complaints. (Although it looks like it’s intended to give folks the run-around).

I’m really sorry about that. Something very similar happened to me several years ago.
CVS screwed up a prescription for me. My husband was out at night Christmas shopping, and he picked it up for me. When he got home and I realized it wasn’t what the doctor prescribed, I called the CVS pharmacy, and the pharmacist laughed and hung up on me.
I ended up writing a letter to the company CEO. The result? They sent me a five-dollar gift card with no accompanying letter or call.
I was advised by more than one person not to have prescriptions filled at CVS because they’re notorious for getting them wrong. Whether that’s true or not, they won’t be getting any of mine.
If I were you, I wouldn’t expect much from management, but it’s worth a try.
CVS have become total communists.
The wife and I had an ‘instance’ back in the 90s with Rite Aid. Never have gone there since.
Wife was pregnant with number five. Went for pre-natal vitamins (Rx you know). They gave her someone else’s birth control pills.
When we questioned them they looked again and saw the name match was close but not the same.
So things should not be Rx, this is one example.
SOME things should not be Rx, this is one example.
Blame Obama. He’s screwed up the everything else in healthcare.
“customer Relations” — the Hell w that. Write the state regulators, your state Reps, and the CEO of CVS. Write clear records of everything said and by whom with date, time, location and locale. Documentation is critical to getting this fixed and addressed.
It happens.
Too frequently, however.
Several years ago, I got a refill on a prescription. When I got home, I noticed the pills were somewhat larger than the previous refills. I looked at the label. They had filled 40 mg instead of 20 mg.
I called, and they started checking.
This was a new refill on an existing medicine. They automatically had contacted the Dr.’s office to renew the prescription. Apparently, the nurse who did the paperwork wrote down the wrong dose size.
==
I could have gotten a new refill, but I told the pharmacist I would just cut the pills in half — which I did.
I have not had a problem with any prescription since then.
But, I always check the dose size anymore.
We use CVS exclusively after they bought Longs. We’ve been very happy w our local stores. Good auto refills; good communications; they talk to the doc to get scripts refilled; friendly and accurate people. Haven’t had any sort of problem w Longs or CVS in 30 years. That’s a darn good track record, better than almost any other establishment.
CVS makes way more than their share of mistakes, they are professional idiots. I would not trust them for anything.
State Health Departments typically have a medical board. They may have a section oriented to pharmacists.
Have you used multiple locations of CVS?
Long’s was great across the board. Some Walgreen’s are good. Some Targets are good. And by your account at least some CVS are good (not my experience re:CVS but that’s probably location driven).
Obviously this person got a bad pharmacist and needs to contact corporate as well as the state board
One time my mom got a scrip order from the Dr., 2 hours later Walmart calls, explaining that the new scrip conflicts and has interactions with another of my moms regular scrips. Called the Doc about it and he talked with the PharmD. Got everything taken care of.
My mom is very allergic to certain meds and this would have been bad, if not caught by the PharmD.
