School leaders in Dickson County decided, after a summer of controversy surrounding the confederate flag, the wise thing to do would be to ban all flags and banners.
Some students are angry as they feel their patriotism is being compromised.
School leaders said there is a right and wrong way to show American pride:
"It's not an unpatriotic act by any means because we have a number of ways in which students do learn how to be patriotic and express American pride."

Students said they were told they would get kicked out if they bring an American flag onto school property.

If they teach US history and social studies correctly, then patriotism should arise naturally from it. But when the study materials are America the Awful, patriotism isn’t to be expected.

When we are losing and the enemy is getting closer each day—then we will see how long this new age claptrap will last. If you think that can’t happen, you have not studied history. Yes, in that dark hour the churches will be full and even sixteen year olds will be drafted. Illegals will be heading for old Mexico to escape the draft. Yes, this time even girls will be drafted—you have come a long way baby!

We here in eastern TN see things differently. Conservative and patriotic for the most part.

There are liberals who consider the American flag as much a symbol of racism and oppression as the Confederate Flag.
And there are judges who backed up measures like this, such as punishing students who wore American flag T-shirts on Cinco de Mayo - and the American flag shirts were banned as a provocation and out of fear of violence.

Agree....and their parents should accompany them to school and also carry a US Flag! Enough! The only way this is going to stop is for people to stand up and reject this nonsense. It should also be against the law to step on or deface our beautiful Flag!
