I need to find a better belt for OWB carry, I’ll check out the author’s suggestion.
Kicking in the butt? I prefer a heavy boot. Limber up, stretch those calf muscles - you want a good swift boot to to the butt, not a pulled calf muscle.
Now, everyone has their favorite position, I like to stand in a door way to I have a good range to swing my foot, while bracing myself in the door way for balance.
Get a few good practice swings in first.
Swing your leg up, then swing back and be sure to bend the knee for complete ankle to ass connection.
Repeat as necessary. Hope this helps.
Sorry, but that trend ended several years ago, or so I was informed by my wife as I donned my fav slacks, cargo pants, the other day.
Nonetheless, they're still good for me. The problem is that I carry so much stuff in so many different pockets that things wind up in the washer that shouldn't be there. I've never washed a gun, though.
Then I bit the bullet and bought quality (RafterS) belts. World of difference.

If you’re a complete novice take a CC course that includes actual shooting. Always keep the end with the hole pointed away from yourself for starters. :{)

Yep-— you’re right. I need to but no desire to do it. Since I travel by plane on business a lot and when I get home my interests lie elsewhere. But I need to learn and to shoot a damn gun but with proper training. Then to practice it afterwards. I think I asked a stupid question to begin with.

WIth modern bullets, .40 gets you nothing except increased recoil and less ammo capacity. I would say the same thing about .45 auto personally, but many here would want me hung.
If you really don’t feel the desire to do it, let it go and take your chances. Traveling and flying and all the different jurisdictions can be time consuming to say the least. If no desire to deal with it. Don’t. Not a stupid question at all.

They make them for most guns, many models. I had a Judge Public Defender and bought the holster for it. I got a new auto. The holster I had was close to fitting the new one. I cut it down some and restitched the piping for a perfect fit. A new Sticky is around $25 but I’m a tad cheap.
Over the years I’ve gotten a pretty good handle on the proper combination of clothing to keep my concealed concealed. I still struggle with #4 - a “good” holster. Holster manufacturers love me because I buy their stuff and then reject it (and turn around and buy something else).
Having lost one sidearm in the middle of a busy street during a foot chase I’m cautious (maybe even paranoid) about having a holster that actually secures the weapon. Now it’s easy to get one that emphasizes secure containment - but they all come at the expense of concealment.
I have yet to find the happy medium.
5 rules of a gun fight:
1) gun beats no gun
- if you left your gun home because of X, you have no gun
- if your gun jams and you cant clear it, you have no gun
- if you run out of ammunition, you have no gun
2) a hit beats a miss
- a .22 that hits is worth more than the .44 that misses
- carry only what you can shoot accurately
- carry only what you can hit with the follow up shot
- too big of a gun does not make you a man but it just might make you dead
3) fast beats slow
- he who shoots first, often shoots last
- until you get your gun into the fight, you have no gun
- carry so you can get to it
- practice getting to it in all kinds of situations (standing, sitting, in the car, with or without jacket, etc)
4) big holes beat small holes
- bigger holes bleed out faster
- bigger bullets make bigger holes
- jacketed hollow points make even bigger holes
- carry the biggest caliber you can manage under #2
5) 2 holes beat one hole
- if it needs to be shot once, shoot twice
- consider this when you are carrying extra magazines
I saw a video recently comparing 10 concealed carry guns, all 9mm. The Taurus was the least expensive and ranked at the top. One of only three guns tested that made it through 1000 rounds with no misfires. They were testing the Taurus 709 slim. The Millennium G2 is the same gun with nearly twice the capacity (12+1 instead of 7+1)and very little size difference.
No such thing as a stupid question. FreeRepublic is a good place to get gun advice. You may get some silly ones like “ get a 50 cal pistol but the silly remarks are all in good fun. Personally when I first fired a 40 caliber it felt like it had a sharp kick. You may experience different results. If you ever decide you want to switch calibers, consider a 9mm for the lower recoil and often higher capacity. Regardless of what firearms you have, get lots of extra ammo I.e at least 500 rounds full metal jacket and at least 200 rounds hollowpoints . 5 extra magazines also. You need a pistol cleaning kit. It might seem excessive, but it’s a good start. Once you get shooting and start enjoying it, you’ll make time for it. Anyway that’s my 2 cents.
Guns are a tool. It is a very specific tool, one you use only in a very limited set of circumstances. Namely, when the safety and lives of you and your family are on the line.

I hope you are never put into a situation where you might need a gun. I also hope that if that time comes, you will have your gun, the wisdom to know when to use it, and the PRACTICED skill to use it correctly and effectively.
Use your left foot, it's probably not as strong as the right one and likely won't hurt as much.
