FERGUSON Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson says he probably wouldnt have used deadly force against Michael Brown, the teenager whose fatal shooting by police Officer Darren Wilson sparked a national debate on race and the role of police.
Carson gave an interview to the Post-Dispatch on Friday afternoon after visiting Ferguson. When asked if he would have shot Brown if he were in Wilsons shoes, Carson said: Its hard to say. I probably, knowing who he was, I probably just would have arrested him.
Carson said he would have waited for backup before having the altercation.
A Justice Department investigation concluded that Wilson had reason to fear for his life and thus couldnt be prosecuted for fatally shooting the unarmed 18-year-old.

This is like Scott Walker being asked if he though Obama was a Christian. Who is Scott Walker to opine on Obama’s religious beliefs?
He should have replied: Why are you asking me that question?
That’s all it would take. Try and explain why that’s reasonable question. Is the guy being interviewed for police chief? Is Walker the Pope of politicians?
No, no I didn’t think so.
HEY, REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES, THE MEDIA IS YOU ENEMY, TREAT THEM ACCORDINGLY.
I believe that. He’s wrong on abortion, the Second Amendment and amnesty/a border wall, and I’m guessing, possibly much more.
Not only is he a lightweight, I believe that he is a liberal.
so where are all his supporters going to go when he fades into the sunset....Hillary????
“Dr. Carson’s handlers/advisors have not groomed him very well in the art of politics and political smears.
Obviously, the reporter is going after conservatives with “gotcha” questions.”
He went to Ferguson recently. It wasn’t really a gotcha question. He should have been familiar with what happened, since that would have been his reason for going. I think this will finally do it for me.
The question was fine. It was the doctor's answer that caused the damage. It seems the good doctor is wrong on many issues. His answer to a question about the second amendment some time back was terrible.
Doctor Carson is not a good candidate for president, nor would he serve well in the office.
IMO, here is a better answer:
Q: "If you were a police officer, would you have shot Michael Brown?"
A: "If you were a surgeon, would you apply a ligature within plexus choroideus?
Q: "I'm not a surgeon to answer that."
A: "And I'm not a police officer to answer your question."
“Carson is making a huge mistake trying to answer all of the medias gotcha questions. They are designed to take him down and he is falling into their trap by thinking he somehow has to answer their false premises and hypotheticals.”
But THANKFULLY he is trying to answer those questions...so that we can better see who he is and make our determination about him. He may not have done himself much of a favor, but he certainly has done us a HUGE FAVOR.
What about Trayvon? Would Carson just allow someone to bash his head against concrete and not fight back?
I don’t know.
He's a Christian Colin Powell.
“so where are all his supporters going to go when he fades into the sunset....Hillary????”
Nope. I liked Carson a lot, but going to stay with Trump now. This seemed liked race baiting to be second guessing the police officer.
The more I hear from him, the more I know that is the truth.
Trump will have to make sure this comment about Michael Brown is well-known.
But it might be a good idea for a surrogate to do the honors.
Nothing makes me sicker to my stomach than watching an otherwise good man fall prey to political corruption, standing tall with chin up and intentially lying to promote racial division.
Doctor Ben Carson is an f’n jerk and NO better than Obama.
Piss off Benny.
Very much so.
“Ben, that is crazy talk. Do you even know how that incident went down? That perp would have used your own gun against you, once he got close enough to do what he did.”
He went to Ferguson to meet with everyone, protestors, community leaders, business owners, etc., so he should have been familiar with the case.
Sensible question. We don't. Presumably the position exists because the President needs expert advice regarding continuing & improved health of citizens. Insofar as we do have one, he's probably the best choice short of eliminating the position altogether.
“Stop Pandering!”
I’m not sure he is. More likely he simply never gave it any thought, listened to the media, and developed his opinion that the killing was not necessary. His problem is not pandering...where you compromise your positions for supposed votes, but rather he was a blank slate on this and stupidly let the media determine his position. A conservative would believe the cops first, and only then, after reviewing evidence, possibly go against the cops. He’s not a conservative and, in any case, a person this unprepared has no business running.
And yet...he said what he said about it. One more reason why I'm hesitant to back him for POTUS. If he's the nominee I will, but we do have better choices.
