CNN debate changed nothing but rearrange the seats of 2nd, 3rd and 4th place

Posted on 09/17/2015 8:16:32 AM PDT by Bigtigermike

This overdrawn out debate being milked by CNN will change very little of this early primary season race . Many claim that Trump lost a bit a luster in the debate, now that's up for debate, no pun intended, but most Trump supporters are not going to go and jump ship to Carly or Rubio or Carson now. What's going to happen is that Carly Fiorina, if she is gaining support, will most likely pull supporters of other losing candidates like Bush, Walker or Carson into her corner. It's all about who is the anti-Trump candidate for some GOP voters and the GOP establishment for sure. Trump supporters aren't going anywhere and most certainly will not go to Carly saved for maybe Cruz

Donald Trump looked grumpy for nearly the entire debate. He only broke his grumpiness when one of the candidates successfully turned Trump’s words around on him, and he had to admit they were clever about it.

I still cannot see that his popularity lasts until next summer - especially with other competent candidates.

I do credit Donald with raising awareness in the MSM of the anger that we are all feeling with the incompetence/unpatriotic administration in DC plus the stupidity/laziness of the GOP leadership in DC. Without the Donald, it would still be ho hum. He deserves credit for that. Now, if he would only smile more.

"What’s Up With That?"

The football term is "Prevent Defense". He's the frontrunner -- just don't screw it up. The only time he was "Trump" was when one of the others came close to landing a power punch. Then, he unleashed his Trumpiness and slapped it back down.

The little jabs, he didn't much care about, but he made sure no one hit him hard.

Unfortunately, I don't think that strategy necessarily plays to undecideds. Trump may have declared himself the winner too soon.

On Drudge as of now:

Bush 1%
Carson 4%
Christie 1%
Cruz 6%
Fiorina 21%
Huckabee 1%
Kasich 1%
Paul 4%
Rubio 6%
Trump 53%
Walker 1%

604,057 Total Votes

Bush, Christie, Huckabee Kasich and Walker should go to the kiddie table for the next debate.

Not that anyone cares, but I’d give the following scores, in terms of what I expect are the resulting polling gains or losses by the candidates:

Fiorina +5% (Can someone get her a happy pill while she’s winning, please?)
Trump -2% (You’re HIRED [if I can buy your foreign policy experience]!)
Carson -4% (You’re right, and we love you, Dr. Grampa!)
Jeb! -1% (Boehner + McConnell can’t be all bad, can they?)
Cruz +/- 0% (Dude, I love you, but you gotta try to OWN the stage)
Rubio +1% (Earnest Kidlings unite!)
Paul -2% (Dude, is it like 4:20 yet?)
Huckabee -2% = +0.1% (You both know who you are, Praise JEEEZus!)
Christie -1% = 0% (Give this man a lunch bucket!)
Kasich -3% = -2% (Sucks oxygen out of the room and everyone dies of boredom)

Trumps value proposition is primarily “non-politician”, and that’s why so many people are supporting him. Look at any survey or poll, and the one thing people from all political stripes will agree on is that they’re sick to death of politics-as-usual. And no matter what Trump says or does, he will always be a non-politician, so the level of support remains solid.

It’s kind of like asking a lifetime fan of a sports team why they still support their team even after a losing season. It’s because they’re still “da Bears” (or whatever..)

To a great extent, people vote for a persona.

Terrible, but true.

Look at 0bama.

Ted has to be smart enough to shape his persona into the likeable, smooth, good looking, good guy demeanor that a huge proportion of the electorate wants.

If you can’t do that bit of retail politics, it’s going to be tough.

“If I am Trump, I skipped last nights “debate” and then gave my responses on Twitter. No reason for him to continue to play the establishment defined game.”

Agree 100%.

When the question was “what would you like your Secret Service handle to be”, and after El Jebecito said, “Energizer”, wifey and I both jumped up and screamed at Trump to call himself “Duracell, you know the one with the COPPER TOP”. Alas, The Donald did not catch that, but it would have been uproariously funny, the quote of the night. Missed opportunity to tweak El Jebecito’s response as a great setup.

Frank Luntz had a group that no doubt was cherry picked to hate Trump.

“Hey Frank, any reason to believe this group of bozos reflect the national mood any better than your last group of asylum escapees?”

You nailed it, FirstFlaBn. In all of the Luntz_the_dunce panels that I have ever seen, there just seemed that there was something not right about this particular group. They looked like very, very slow, low-information and easily swayed imbeciles.

Usually, in all other Luntz_the_dunce panels, you can just tell that there are people with substantial IQ. But this panel just oozed drool-spittle-meds pigeon-head-bobbers.

The Ruttles? Their slogan was, “A musical legend which will last a lunchtime.”

I had not remembered that quote. It was funnier this time because there was not the Monty Python atmosphere preceding it and it was wholly unexpected. I love it. I almost never laugh. I laughed.

If there is to ba chance to beat the Democrats in the Election (nominating or electing Bush would not be beating the Democrats) then we have to be down to one overpowering candidate before the Primaries, one who can pretty much run the table in the primaries and spend all of his time projecting his vision or notion about the Great America he would bring on by reverting to Free Market principles and the Morals and Values the nation grew prosperous on.

My takeaway question is why has the GOP had 2 debates and the RATS 0?

My second question is why is the RAT UNIPARTY running the debates?
