Dr. Krauthammer Endorses Me as Moderator for a Democrat Debate

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: It might have been yesterday. This is what, Wednesday? So it might have been Monday or Tuesday. Somebody called here and was talking about an idea that Ted Cruz put forth that I moderate a debate. And I said, "No, no, no. If I moderate any debate, it ought to be a Democrat debate." And that subject came up last night on Special Report with Bret Baier.

KRAUTHAMMER: I think the idea of having conservative moderators, say Rush and two people he chooses, would be a splendid idea if that panel would be the moderators for the Democratic debate and the GOP will take any liberal because obviously when they took on the CNBC liberals, they won.

RUSH: Dr. Krauthammer is exactly right. You know, the Drive-By narrative, well, Obama's out there saying (imitating Obama), "These guys running for my office saying that I'm gutless, I don't have the ability to stand up Putin, and these are the guys that are afraid of a bunch of CNBC moderators." And they weren't afraid of any CNBC moderators. They made mincemeat of them. They didn't run and hide from the CNBC moderators. They overwhelmed them and destroyed 'em. And Dr. Krauthammer here is acknowledging that as well.

But there you go, folks, I have been endorsed as a moderator for an upcoming Democrat debate, which is never gonna happen. The Democrats will not even do a debate on Fox News. You let somebody propose me as a moderator for a Democrat debate, you want to watch people hightailing it in the other direction? It's another reason why the Democrats wouldn't go for it. They don't want great ratings in a debate of theirs moderated by me. That would equal bad news. It's not gonna happen. I just wanted you to know that the idea that I had, me moderating a Democrat debate, that has been endorsed.

And Jake Tapper of CNN came along and made the point yesterday that I made, that after Obama's running around and trying to rip on these Republicans for cowardly behavior toward the CNBC moderators, Jake Tapper on CNN on his show last night talking about all that said this.

TAPPER: Democrats boycotted the Fox News Channel, slash, Congressional Black Caucus debate back in 2007, so a lot of Republicans are out there saying, you know, this isn't just about Republicans not liking moderators. Democrats didn't like the idea of Fox News Channel doing a debate back in '07.

RUSH: Yeah, but the difference is the Democrats didn't do theirs. We show up. We show up at every debate moderated by Democrat Party hacks. The Democrats won't even do one debate where they don't control every aspect of it.

I hate to say it, but there would be still cries of foul from the candidates and their supporters even if Limbaugh et al were to moderate the republican debate.

The irony here is that hours before the CNBC debate, Limbaugh on his radio show had pushed for moderators to ask the very question that ultimately set Cruz off.

“I fully expect the moderators to ask these various candidates if they endorse the Republican budget deal,” Limbaugh told listeners. “I mean, that’s a sitting duck. If that doesn’t happen, then the fix is really in.”

CNBC anchor Carl Quintanilla did, indeed, ask Cruz about his opposition to the deal, but Cruz used his allotted response time to rail against bad questions. When pressed by Quintanilla to actually respond to the substance, Cruz kept going, declining to answer the question — the same one his preferred moderator, Limbaugh, certainly would have asked, too.

No. I don't want the radio personality that is Rush Limbaugh to be a moderator. He is a good commentator but not sure he could keep his mouth shut long enough to allow the candidates to respond. Plus, he is target 1 for the liberals. They will cry unfair bias the next day whether true or not. No Rush.

My preferences: Krouthammer, Ingram, Levin, Sustren, maybe Malkin who may not have the chops, possibly Hannity if he doesn't over talk which is his tendency.

You kind of left out the part where Quintanilla asked if Cruz's opposition to the budget deal showed he was unfit to lead.

Complete context is important, otherwise you are just parroting what all the other liberal talking heads are saying.

Let’s keep the record straight

- you post: “When pressed by Quintanilla to actually respond to the substance, Cruz kept going, declining to answer the question ...”

Actually, after Quintanilla got his head handed to him, he chided Cruz for not answering the question. Cruz then said he’s be glad to answer it - right then - but Quintanilla wouldn’t let him - kept shutting him down -

Listen for yourself - start at minute marker 1:45 (let’s keep the record straight - even if you back another candidate?)

QUINTANILLA: Senator Cruz. Congressional Republicans, Democrats and the White House are about to strike a compromise that would raise the debt limit, prevent a government shutdown and calm financial markets that fear of — another Washington-created crisis is on the way.

Does your opposition to it show that you’re not the kind of problem-solver American voters want?

This is far from asking about the budget deal and goes to the heart of personal attacks that Cruz was just fed up about.

No to Krauthammer! He’s an elitist RINO, he despises Trump, and is a cohort of George Will. As moderator of a debate he’d would make Megyn Kelley look fair and thoughtful.

There is nothing wrong with asking fair and tough questions as long as they are presented in a fair and honest manner, and not preceded by personal attacks, gotchas, lies, etc.

Here are some of the previous debate questions, which are based on a dishonest manner.

- “What’s your biggest weakness?”
- “You want to bring 70,000 pages to three.. is that using really small type?”
- “Why not slow down, get a few more things done first or least finish what you start?”
- “Does your opposition to it show that you’re not the kind of problem-solver American voters want?”
- “Is this a comic book version of a presidential campaign?”
- “When you look at him [another candidate], do you see someone with the moral authority to unite the country?”
- “I just wondered why you think we should hire you now?”
- “Why should the voters believe the promises that you’re telling them right now?”
- “..it raises the question whether you have the maturity and wisdom to lead this $17 trillion economy. What do you say?”

Here are some of the statements made to preface some of the questions:
- “You’ve been a young man in a hurry”
- “as you would of flying away from that podium by flapping your arms.”
- “the fact that you’re at the fifth lectern tonight shows how far your stock has fallen in this race”

And many other statements and questions were presented to get one candidate to specifically call out and demean another Republican candidate or other Republicans.

So, similarly, here are some “tough but fair” questions that need to be asked of some of the democrat candidates in their next debate.

- “Hillary, given the fact that you lied {quote her emails to her daughter and Egypt prime minister} at the Benghazi hearings, do you have the moral authority to lead anybody?”
- “Hillary, given the fact that you sold out state department classified and top secret information for monetary gain, at what point in time will you be in jail for treason, before, during, or after, the election?”
- “Hillary, given the fact that you set up your own email server which is a violation of federal law, should’t you be in jail right now?”
- “Hillary, given the fact that you have violated 15 federal laws on the email server and Benghazi situation, shouldn’t you be sitting in jail right now?”
- “Bernie, you, an avowed socialist, and given the fact in the 20th century, close to 170 million people have been murdered by their own socialist governments, as president of the United States would you be murdering 30 million Americans or 50 million?”

And then turn to Hillary,
- “Hillary, your progressive agenda matches Bernie’s socialist agenda point by point. Since that also makes you a socialist and do you agree with Bernie on the 30-50 million deaths or do you foresee more?”

Did you watch the debate? Cruz answered the question later. Cruz is fearless. Are you insinuating he is not?

He was told he had 30 seconds, used it and then when told he had used his time.

at the 1:08 mark in this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccUGfHj4H9c he is warned about the 30 seconds. He used the time to continue his disgust. Thirty seconds from the conclusion of Quintantilla's 30 second warning would have been 1:42. It was at between 1:45 and 1:46 when he was interrupted and told that he was not apparently going to answer. It was only after that when he attempted to inject and ask if they wanted an answer to the question. After the expiration of the 30 second warning
