Ben Carson's unusual theory about pyramids ("It's still my belief, yes.")
CBS News ^

NAPLES, Florida -- Ben Carson stood by his long-held belief about ancient pyramids in Egypt, that they were used to store grain, rather than to inter pharaohs.

Asked about this Wednesday, Carson told CBS News, "It's still my belief, yes."

The subject came up when Buzzfeed published a 1998 commencement speech delivered by Carson at Andrews University, a college founded by Seventh-day Adventists.

"My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain," Carson said. "Now all the archeologists think that they were made for the pharaohs' graves. But, you know, it would have to be something awfully big if you stop and think about it. And I don't think it'd just disappear over the course of time to store that much grain."

And? Why on earth would it matter?

Well one thing is certain. Carson does not watch the History Channel. If he did, he would know the pyramids were build by space aliens, and not by Joseph.

>> Why Mummies and jewelry etc in tombs.

That’s when the libtards and atheists took over.

Perhaps Joseph was really a space alien....? You never know what might have happened at Potiphar’s house while no one was looking.

The Egyptians didn't build them. An earlier civilization did and they were power plants of a sort.

The frizzy haired guy said so.

One of the qualities that everyone says they want in a leader is *common sense*.

Ben Carson has none.

This isn’t a misquote. This isn’t taken out of context. This isn’t ‘old news’. This is what he believes and he’s believed it for a long time. In a way, that’s even worse because it shows that he can’t adjust with new information or evidence.

This shows that he has zero common sense.

How in the hell can a man lead a nation well without this fundamental quality?

Oh absolutely. One bad theory proves a man has no common sense. It’s a good thing being a surgeon, directing a hospital department, or running a charitable foundation don’t require common sense so that people with the deficiencies of Dr. Carson can still support themselves.

Maybe the theory is a teaching of Dr. Carson’s church and he wants to adhere to his church’ beliefs.

This is NOT a teaching of the SDA church. I have idea where Carson came up with this.

This sounds like his religious belief. Someone will correct me if I’m wrong, but this may be an Evangelical or Creationist belief. (?)

SDA church does not teach this.

Alright. The whole SDA thing bothers me. The 6-day Creationist thing bothers me. The shilling for nutrient crap and claiming that it cured his cancer without disclosing that he had surgery to remove said cancer bothers me. Now this.

Just remember that it’s ‘smart, educated people’ who’ve propped up Global Warming and ALL of the other leftist crap over the last century. Many of them actual scientists with doctorates. Carson is just the other side of that coin.

College isn’t everything.

""My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain," Carson said. "Now all the archeologists think that they were made for the pharaohs' graves."

My personal belief is that they were used to store salt for the roads for the long grueling Egyptian winters.

“The Palinization of Ben Carson continues.”

OK. But if he said it, you have to admit, it’s goofy.

Haven’t posted in years, here goes - Most everyone knows Carson is highly intelligent, soft spoken, has a good sense of humor and champions many conservative principles. As much as I like him, here is the thing about Carson: every now and then he goes off the rails and gives these dogmatic sounding, absolute opinions which he is forced to go back later and try to explain. It is neither expedient nor politically astute.

Like when he said prison proves that homosexuality is a choice - maybe he is right, who knows, but like this thing about the pyramids, why even say it? It just causes distraction and controversy, and does not address the problems of a nation.

This makes Carson another potential philosopher president, which we do not need. No doubt Carson would be much better and more creative than Obama, but after years of heavy moralizing, teachable moments from the White House - now is the time for direct action, not a head in the clouds professor explaining vague theories.

There is a hierarchy of tin-foilers.

While we are supposed to use the scientific method to evaluate evidence that is based on a foundation of free inquiry, debate, and access to data.

When governments around the world hide key data in the name of national security then scientists in the “open world” can only evaluate the data available to them. That leads to a variety of false and stupid conclusions and discredits science as a discipline. If that was not bad enough government grants tend to warp science in “politically correct” directions and discredit it further.

Bottom line—when we can’t trust the integrity of science then the “tin foilers” have as good a claim on truth as anyone else.
