Movie tickets, Costco and grocery store runs, Walt Disney World trips, flowers and flights for his wife –- those are some of the charges listed in two years of statements for Marco Rubio’s American Express card issued by the Republican Party of Florida.

The charges -- which have surfaced along with questions about his personal finances as an issue for the GOP candidate in the 2016 campaign -- are listed in two years (2007-'08) of statements obtained by ABC News that have been widely circulated in Florida political circles since Rubio ran for Senate in 2010. The Rubio campaign plans soon to release the records for the two other years (2005-'06) he had the card.

Well you haven’t been conservative long so that is understandable. You have a long way to go and hopefully you aren’t ancient and still have a chance.

I have a corporate card and would not even consider using it for personal use.

Unlike Rubio, I can tell the difference between my company AMEX and my personal Visa.

What Marco Rubio Paid for With His Florida GOP Charge Card
I don't like the guy but who cares where he spent GOP money?

If this is the best they can come up with we could be in big trouble.

"Because Rubio has not produced proof that he paid them. Proof to who?? you????

Proof to his accusers.

Are you trying to say that requiring an elected official to prove that they did not have unreported income a bad thing?

If, Rubio spent money that was not his and did not repay it it would be unreported income.

"You're the one with blinders....not one cent of this money came from the taxpayer....NONE....it was all willingly donated to the Republican Party of Florida and it is nobody's business, except their donors, what they do with it....NONE."

There are laws requiring records on donations and how they are spent. It is against the law to take campaign donations and spend them for personal reasons.

Rubio made notes on what he spent on personal expenses, and reimbursed the GOP in full every month when the bill came in. It doesn’t sound very scandalous to me.

I can understand once or twice if he left his credit card home ... but really - why wasn't he using his own card?

He said he paid the credit card company; not the GOP. He also has not produced documents proving he paid.

The way things like this work is that he would submit the receipts to the GOP who in turn would pay AmEx. He would not submit the personal expenses and would just pay off the balance. The only "documents" would be canceled checks and who knows if he kept them this long.

I'm a Cruz supporter, but this is ridiculous.

Rubio made notes on what he spent on personal expenses, and reimbursed the GOP in full every month when the bill came in.

The point is he has a personal credit card that should have been used. That practice keeps his money in the bank accumulating interest. Next time I go to the movies, I'll use your credit card but promise to pay you back, ok?

st. An accountant auditing this would insist upon supporting documentation and demand to see the accounting for all the expenditures related to these credit card charges...and that would include a breakdown of ALL debits and credits and documentation explaining each item as well as a proper “reconciliation”.

Doubtful. It would just be marked as a personal expense. When I had a work CC, this was an option if you used the corporate card. I'm in consulting so we rack up a lot of charges and I can see that some might use it for personal expenses. (I've always used my personal CC so that I get the points.) Different organizations have different policies. Governmental bodies tend to be the most strict with corps. having different levels of strictness.

I am just repeating what he said. Rubio said he paid the credit card directly for the charges.

I read my post and I was unclear. To be more clear: he would not have submitted personal expenses. He would have paid the card directly for his personal expenses.

Or, he could have gotten reimbursed for business expenses and paid the whole thing off from his account.

There are a variety of ways this would be 'kosher' and I can't see why Rs are making a big deal about this. It is not necessarily unethical.

I could use my corp card for "personal" expenses if need be, but I'd rather get the rewards points on my personal account(s). R's who are making a big deal about this just really don't understand the different ways things work.

Saying that everything is kosher because the republican party didn’t make a big deal about it doesn’t work because they may just be covering for him.

I read part of a 700 page report listing all of the research on Rubio.

The charges are much more than just a few personal charges on a GOP credit card.

There were charges for food, a $10,000 family reunion, a car repair, new flooring for his kitchen, and on and on.

There were also charges that he double billed flights and other travel charges to both the gop and the state. His reasons for the double billing were flimsy at best.

There is a charge that he bought a home for $550,000 and a couple of months later took out a $135,000 home equity loan. When the bank, that had business before the state at that time, did the appraisal they didn’t use comps in his neighborhood, which were equal to the amount he paid for his house; they used comps on houses over a mile away.

There is another charge that Rubio set up something like PAC to sponsor other candidates but almost all of the money went to salaries, many for family members, and expenses.

On top of all this, his biggest political donor hired Rubio’s wife for a job in the donor’s charity but she evidently doesn’t spend much time there. This is from several other news articles. Not the report I mentioned above.

All in all, it sounds like Rubio needs to be thoroughly vetted and I would not be surprised if the reason Romney did not choose Rubio for VP was due to the research paper. Romney’s team may have produced it.

There really isn’t more “there” to this “scandal” but it keeps Senior Amnesty explaining. And when a candidate is explaining he is not moving forward. This makes this issue a net plus, for America.

This is a non-starter and just serves to divert folks from the important issues that Rubio has going against him.

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader.....

GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!

Donate to Cruz
