Poll: Do you agree with Trump that tough French gun laws led to more deaths in terrorist attacks?

As France and the rest of the world comes to grips with Friday night's horrific terrorist attacks in and around Paris that claimed at least 129 lives, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is blaming tough gun control laws in France for the dimensions of the tragedy.

At a rally in southeast Texas Saturday afternoon, Trump told the crowd "nobody had guns but the bad guys."

"You can say what you want, but if they had guns -- if our people had guns, if they were allowed to carry -- it would have been a much, much different situation," Trump said, according to a Washington Post report. "I hear it all the time, you know. You look at certain cities that have the highest violence, the highest problem with guns and shootings and killings -- Chicago is an example, toughest gun laws in the United States, nothing but problems."

By making that comment the Washington Post observed, Trump doubled down on a message he tweeted in January, following a smaller-scale terrorist attack: "Isn't it interesting that the tragedy in Paris took place in one of the toughest gun control countries in the world?"

As that dated tweet recirculated on Friday evening, the French ambassador to the United States, Gerard Araud, tweeted at Trump: "This message is repugnant in its lack of any human decency. Vulture."

What's your thoughts?

No, these sorts of people would not carry a gun even if it were legal. The terrorists attacked the most ‘boho’ part of Paris, it’s metrosexual city!

70/30 agree in New Jersey this is very significant. Yes I know we are Freeping it but the break out was 62/38 before the Freeping which is still very significant. Paris won the White House for Trump.

reports say that the gunman that was out on the street shooting people at restaurants ....strolled down the street and casually reloaded... is there any doubt and armed citizen could have taken this guy out during his first reload?...anybody with a concealed carry could stop this..

scream all you want about vulgarity of saying such a thing mr. French ambassador... it’s the simple truth... and until people are willing to start facing truth and reality more people will die

“what would you do with your little 7 shot concealment gun?”

Read Day of Wrath. They address that issue when one of the teachers decides to carry, albeit illegally, a pocket .380.

He wasn't unscathed and seriously wounded but one good man turned the tide with surprise and improvisation.

And to stick a hunk of pork in each one’s mouth.

After the terrible shootings in Newtown I posed a thought problem to a friend who’s a “gun controller.”

If one of the children had sneaked his Dad’s 9mm pistol into school that day and had it in his backpack, how could the tragedy have been worse? How could it have been better? Would it likely have been worse or better?

If the Dad had shown the child how to hold, aim and shoot the pistol, answer the same questions.

The French are soft targets for a lot of reasons, one of which is their refusal to stand up for themselves.

Of course he’s correct, which is part of why he struck a nerve with the French official.

They are targets because Muslims are so embedded in France they blend in without raising an eyebrow.

You’d never see this in say, Warsaw, because a couple of Arab-types there would stick out like a sore thumb. And Poles will make damn sure it stays that way.

And. often times concert venues search you anyways for weapons. Inside the concert venue wouldn't have mattered.

That being said, if you are going to have a weapons free place as a business, you should be mandated to have armed security.

My wife's hospital has the stupid azz 'No Weapons' stickers on the doors. Pisses me off.

Gerard called Trump a vulture but didn't say anything about the moslum vultures who are circling around the French carcass. How long will it be before Germany gets hit by their terrorist guests?

I did read it. It illustrated a fundamental truth that I’ve been preaching for over 20 years: if you carry concealed and do it right, then there is no such thing as a gun free zone unless they have metal detectors.

I just voted and the results are.

Yes 73% and no 27%. Not bad being that it is New Jersey.

Trump is right once again! Even Madam LePen agrees with him. We could do a lot worse than a President Trump—like a Bush or a Rubio, Sanders or Hillary.

Armed citizens cannot prevent random violence but they can damn well stop it when it happens.

Eight years of Obama has cost us most of the friends and allies we have in the world. Eight months of President Trump will likely cost us the rest.

It will deny them the tactic of shooting as many as possible prior to detonation though.

Yep. At that music venue, perhaps full of 1200 people, there were probably two shooter terrorists. There was no hope for the initial victims shot from behind and above, nor from grenades tossed at them. But there were plenty of people hunkered down on the floor powerless to do anything. There were pauses as the terrorists reloaded. If any one of the 1200 people had a gun and retaliated against the two terrorists the victim count might be far far lower. All it would take is one patriot with a gun.

Let me put it this way. I knew as soon as I saw a boatload of “refugees” sinking off the shore of Greece that this was trouble, and I mean BIG trouble!
And now they have absorbed what, 100,000 or 200,000 or more of all these nice “refugees”?

What the hell do they expect? You simply cannot let into your borders this many people and expect things to just go on all kum-bay-a ish.

The number one aim of border control is not how impoverished or young or widowed or whatever are the immigrants. The number one concern has to be does this person have even the slightest chance of being (or carrying) something that is bad for our society.

Thats it. Thats all there is.

And we have now seen literally boatloads of immigrants pouring into Europe, what can we expect?

The fireworks are just getting started!

Oh, and btw, I totally agree with Trumps statement. A couple French with concealed carry could have stopped most of this.
