Ben Carson blasts RNC, threatens to leave Republican Party

Ben Carson on Friday blasted the Republican National Committee following a Washington Post report that nearly two-dozen establishment party figures were prepping for a potential brokered convention as Donald Trump continues to lead most polls.

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus held a dinner in Washington, D.C., on Monday, and, according to five people who spoke with the Post, the possibility of Trump heading into the Cleveland convention with a noteworthy number of delegates was a topic of discussion. In the meeting, a number of Republicans suggested the establishment lay the groundwork for a floor fight that would lead the party’s mainstream wing to unite behind an alternative.

“If the leaders of the Republican Party want to destroy the party, they should continue to hold meetings like the one described in the Washington Post this morning,” Carson said in a statement released by his campaign.

Carson said he prays the Post’s report is incorrect and threatened to leave the GOP. “If it is correct, every voter who is standing for change must know they are being betrayed. I won’t stand for it,” said Carson, who noted that if the plot is accurate, “I assure you Donald Trump won’t be the only one leaving the party.”

The retired neurosurgeon said that next summer’s Cleveland convention could be the last Republican National Convention if leaders try to manipulate it.

“I am prepared to lose fair and square, as I am sure is Donald,” Carson said. “But I will not sit by and watch a theft. I intend on being the nominee. If I am not, the winner will have my support. If the winner isn’t our nominee then we have a massive problem.”

That alternative is looking more and more like the Cruz

The RNC, once the honestly conservative party but now just a bunch of fascist establishment lying backstabbing hacks, will cut its own throat if they move to hijack Trumps bid for the WH. Trump can revitalize the RNC if those running it will capitulate to the people.

Kudos to Carson for hitting back at RNC unlike RINOs who would view this as an opening for them.

Considering that Carson leaving would be for reasons that would likely also cause Trump to leave, and probably Cruz as well, people WOULD notice headlines like “Trump, Cruz and Carson leave rigged GOP primary process to start 3rd party”, taking a huge number (quite possibly winning) of votes with them.

Its good to see Ben make this statement. The GOP will be over if the Party Apparatchiks try any shenanigans. They need to just let it play out and support who they will as best they can and calm down. It will be ok and there are mental health professionals for those who can’t take it.

Ditto! An honest position from an honest man. It rather smacks of “fixing” an election, doesn’t it.

I can’t imagine any scenerio in which Cruz would be more acceptable to the GOPe than Trump. Rush was saying yesterday that the GOPe is in a bind. They don’t want Trump, but they want runner-up Cruz even less. He said they hate Trump but they fear Cruz.

Cruz is a serious contender. Trump is a serious contender. Carson isn’t.

The odds that no one will accumulate a majority of the delegates are vanishingly small. It used to happen before primaries became the norm, but in the modern era, a snowball effect takes over and momentum carries someone over the finish line.

There is one and only one reason this possibility is being raised seriously now. This is the view, which may or may not be correct, that Trump has a ceiling of support well below 50 percent, and is the frontrunner only because the rest of the field is still so split. This may be correct. Or maybe not. We will soon see.

It is certainly possible that Trump could top out at 35 percent but still go to the convention with a plurality of delegates, but with the remaining 65 percent dead set against him. Trump's ego would probably demand that he be coronated with a plurality, but the 65 percent who are anti-Trump might think otherwise. That could get interesting.

All of the candidates need someone standing next to them in the chariot whispering into their ears, "This is about saving the country. It is not about you. Get your ego under control." There are at least three candidates right now who seem to need a regular reminder of this. I will let you figure out who they are.

I would love to see a convention go 56 ballots, just for the fun of it.

Well good for Carson!!!

Maybe Trump and the rest of the boys should do the same thing...if they only have the two girls, Bush and Carly, then maybe they would get the message....

GO.TRUMP.GO!!!

The Bushes are running the show. They pushed out Romney for their little Yeb.....look where that has gotten them. HA!

For the first time in Yeb’s life, he has to actually work for his position. LOL, it’s like watching a wacko bird flounder about. (thanks for the phrase McCain)
