gotcha questions hit Palin but won’t affect Trump because he has a 24/7 free platform to expose media whores and Marco polo for what they tried. Bush comments about Trump watching Saturday morning cartoons just made Little Debbie, I mean Jebbie look like the petulant child he accuses Trump of being. Last night was just embarrassing for The grand ole party. After being hardline republican since before Reagan I can now truly call myself an independent. Thanks Karl and the GOPe gang. I am free.
I didn’t watch the exchange but after Rubio explained what it was I’d bet Trump knew.
“gotcha questions hit Palin but wonât affect Trump because he has a 24/7 free platform to expose media whores and Marco polo for what they tried.”
Exactly, Trump will follow up.
Hey read post 37! I’m campaigning for Laz’s analysis, it’s some of the best thinking/writing I have ever seen on FR.
Correct...this argument is sounding like what Christie said last night...the Senators were stuck in the minutiae of legislationese...who cares it is called a “nuclear triad” or “triple play”...the candidates will be up to speed when the time comes...that’s what they have advisors and SecDef for, which by the way, Trump will appoint the best. Trump is not a “wonk”...want a “wonk” hire Jeb.
Agree, now read post 37! Ha!
The nuclear triad is three high priests of the establishment Pharaoahs who are going to try abd “get something done” about Trump.
I knew that a long time ago even before they tried this one. But it didn’t work. In fact, it made the audience think, “Nuclear triad? My gawd, more bad boys out there, I’m going to vote Trump to kick some booty”...
Perfect!! Thanks for pinging me to Laz’s spot on explanation.
Haters are always gonna hate, but Laz hit the nail with that :)
No it is not.
Many refinements now could contribute to the ‘triad’.
Drones, satellites, surface ship delivery,etc.
And the land based 1/3 could have been train based etc.Has bo left any silo based units?
How many subs have empty tubes?
The question wasn’t as simple as it sounded.
Any answer could be questioned.
As if that even means anything. Who, exactly, is hating whom or what?
Never heard of the nuclear triad....Where the hell did they pull that outa?? Nevermind....
Whats your priority among our nuclear triad?
So what? It still was a stupid, showoff, gotcha question to ask a candidate in a debate to discuss the the merits of those three nuclear delivery systems. You can bet there are many disagreements among military experts and officers in the various branches of our armed forces.
A far too specialized, technical and detailed topic for that forum. Hewitt showing his ass and trying to make Trump look bad.
The folks who always want to throw back to ‘Trump was a Democrat’ gang. Laz wrote a great post, that I was pinged to, and I was specifically referring to that...and the fact that there will (still) be folks who don’t get what Laz had posted about.
Have a good day, dono.
I've known about the three components of our nuclear weapon delivery system for about half a hundred years, but was caught totally off guard by the term "nuclear triad".
I agree with that. I also believe that if this happened to Cruz, Rubio, Carson, Bush, etc., the Trump fans here would be making fun of it rather than ignoring.
But in his answer/explanation, Rubio sounded like a teacher’s pet: “Oh, I read about this! The nuclear triad is... There are aging B-52s that the grandparents of today’s pilots flew and the Ohio-class submarines have to be upgraded...” The “teacher” should have responded, “Thank you for the lesson Marco, now answer the friggin’ question! Which part of the triad do you consider the most important in today’s threat environment?”
It might be a great question for a politician. Which, I'm sure, was at least part of Hewitt's point.
I may or may not have heard the term before, and I am a former Army officer. I honestly don't recall it.
That said, and while I admittedly did not watch the debate, what is the purpose of using a term that is relatively obscure as the hinge point in a debate? When one uses such a term, it is the responsibility of the originator to provide a clear and concise definition at the time of the first usage. It makes a lot of sense if you think in terms of acronyms in a technical document.
I have not read that Trump gave an adequate answer, IMO. However, given that the question itself seemed designed to highlight his non-politician status, I fail to see that as a great detriment.
And for the record, Trump is not my first choice.
Oh brother. Trump must have done better than I thought if this is what their trying to make hay on.
So then DT does and did know the meaning.
He just didn’t repeat it to your satisfaction.
Thanks for clearing this up.
That is classic Hewitt. He is such a weasel.
