This has been Rush's and Mark Steyn's point repeatedly: these bastions of conservatism always have an excuse in the real world. They NEVER make a "stand on a hill" for anything because, "well, we will get 'em next time."

I keep saying it's about what gets done. I'd rather have a guy I agree with on 50% of the issues---but it's those 50% of the issues that get done---than a guy I agree with on 100% of the issues that gets nothing done.

For example, if all Trump does is build the wall, shut down illegal immigration, and stop the Muslim influx, that would pretty much be a good presidency in my book. Anything beyond that is pure gravy.

I agree, and I'm pretty sure they'll be much more.

I still believe in the Constitution and limited government. The new FR term for that is anti-Trump.

Telling how Trump supporters aren’t putting forth any guiding ideology. Truth is they don’t need it,they have an idol, and they’ll change their own values to match his.

20 years ago? Try 20 minutes ago.
Yeah, and he "flip flopped' on animal cruelty because he didn't mention it before that.

Show me Trump's conservative record. Show me the time he has put in the liberty movement. Show me something other than words trump has done it increase freedom in America

how many jobs has cruz created? Has he ever held a job outside of government? I know Cruz has a vaunted record as a "Principled Conservative" but sometimes you need to put food on the table before you can think about grand ideas.

You mean like Ryan passing Obama's budget and then talking about how they will implement a conservative agenda in conversation with the GOP two weeks later

“Trump has the same kind of charisma that draws people to his side.”

I will give Trump one thing: he can sure tickle a listeners ears. And most people like to have their ears tickled.

And a lot of people like vulgar. And Trump can be New York vulgar.

And Trump can tell the truth. And Trump can bear false witness. In the same speech. And moderates and weak conservatives can't tell the difference.

All they hear is that Trump has a vision of hope and change.

Well, I really appreciate all the help FR has given me over this accusation this friend made to me about Trump. He hates Trump and is going to vote for Bush. I was asking for someone to say something I could use, but I guess that’s not going to happen...I’ve always held FR in high regards, but there sure are a lot of BS type of people posting. By the way, I am a 5th generation Texan and proud of it.

I guess I have spent too much time on FR and I need to get my news elsewhere. And to think, I am a monthly contributor too. Y’all made me somewhat mad!

I believer in the Constitution and limited government. I support Trump and haven't changed or altered a single value. If anything, he has made me more thankful for my freedom and this chance we have to make America great again.

I don't know if Trump supporters call themselves "Principled Conservatives" like the elite conservatives, but we care about the wall, and stupid leaders, and tax policy and the 2nd amendment. There are position papers at Trump's website if you'd like to read them.

As a member of a military family, I know how active, reserve and retired feel about Trump. Somewhere in there is my guiding ideology.

“Seventeen years before becoming a Republican presidential candidate, Ronald Reagan began his political career as a Democrat.”

While Reagan was a registered Democrat up to 1964, Reagan never was a Democrat in his political career. In 1964 became a Republican. Reagan came forward and endorsed Barry Goldwater for President. Then he rand for Governor of CA in 1966...as a Republican.

Reagan only changed parties once not 5 times like Trump.

Sorry, but any whoever donated to the Clintons and hung out with then, will NEVER get my vote. NEVER. I can not trust them.

While vetting Donald Trump FROM THE RIGHT, I often wish I could reach through my computer screen and choke the mindless minion who was coached to say, “Reagan was a liberal democrat too.”

Instead, I fruitlessly try to reason with them by saying, If anyone is going to USE Reagan to defend Clintonista Trump, they should get their facts straight.

Reagan switched parties in 1962, which is 5 years before he was elected Governor of California (YES... Reagan was a politician). Before that, Reagan’s views changed in the 1950’s, as he endorsed the presidential candidacies of Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952 and 1956, as well as Richard Nixon in 1960. Reagan gained national attention with his “A Time for Choosing” speech in support of conservative presidential contender Barry Goldwater in 1964. Even then, he didn’t immediately run for POTUS, but a lesser office to prove his credentials matched his rhetoric.

In stark contrast, Trump supported the candidacy of Bill Clinton, TWICE... and credits Slick Willy as the best president in the last 20 years. He supported John Kerry’s presidential run in 2004, he supported Nancy Pelosi as Speaker in 2006, he supported and said Marxist Hillary would make a good president in 2008, he supported Obama and his policies (aka. Obama’s Stimulus Package, auto bailouts, foreign policy, etc) from 2008-11, he supported Harry Reid’s Senatorial campaign over Tea Party favorite Sharon Angle in 2010, and he didn’t change his supportive views on Obama or flip flopped on some liberal positions (abortion and gun control) until March of 2011, when he first ran for POTUS as a Republican.

While Reagan boldly fought against Socialized Medicine in 1961, Trump STILL supports a Canadian style Socialist single payer system that is to the left of Obamacare

.While Clintonista Trump uses Twitter to break Reagan’s 11th commandment and vent his inner foul-mouthed juvenile...
“Look at that face! [Carly Fiorina] Would anyone vote for that?” ~ Donald Trump
“Ben Carson is a complete and total loser.” ~ Donald Trump
“Not a lot of evangelicals [Ted Cruz] come out of Cuba...” ~ Donald Trump
“I don’t think he’s [Ted Cruz] qualified to be president, look at the way he’s dealt with the Senate, where he goes in there like a — you know, frankly like a little bit of a maniac. You’re never going to get things done that way.” ~ Donald Trump
The fraud even insulted Reagan in his book, “The Art of the Deal.”Reagan was a God-fearing Christian man, while at best, Trump is a deist who says, “I’m not sure I have ever asked God’s forgiveness. I don’t bring God into that picture.”

On occasion, did he compromise on such conservative touchstone issues as taxes, entitlement programs and immigration reform? Yes, but always with the longer view in mind. In the end, did he succeed?

Based on where we are now - NO, he did not succeed in the long term.

It takes constant vigilance and no one truly ever took up his mantle.

Those are the ones that say "we have to work together" to "get things done". Blah, Blah, Blah. Most of it is crap and then they spend twice the money "fixing" what they turned into crap.

And Reagan may have worked with others but he also didn't mind being hated by his enemies. Something I like.

Question: a friend just said that Trump paid $50.00 for those attending his rally in Oklahoma. Please disprove...

Why would I disprove? I get those checks all the time. I don't even show up to the rallies but the checks keep coming nonetheless. Just email Trump directly to get on his list. Tell him I sent you.

The Trump cult can be described by the term Rush uses for democrat voters, low information voters.
