You can’t prove a negative
“All they hear is that Trump has a vision of hope and change.”
So did Ronald Reagan. A shining city on a hill.
“Is that the new tactic of the Trump people?
Claiming good ole boy ignorance as a reason not to debate detailed points?
Well, dang it, I eat bacon too, but I donât like Trump.”
Of course you’d think this. Why, you back a Harvard lawyer. You may eat bacon, but you’re an elitist in your choice of candidate Cruz. Just what we need, another lawyer as President. Only words are their game, not doing anything. Cruz did nothing in the Senate, other than to close down the government. Other than that, he talked, and talked, and talked. Trump is a doer, a businessman.
The Obama’s (both of them) and the Clinton’s (both of them), all lawyers.
Dang it, I sure like me some Trump.
“So did Ronald Reagan. A shining city on a hill.”
Trump is no Ronald Reagan.
“Trump is no Ronald Reagan.”
We’ll see what 4-8 years of a Trump Admin brings. You may end up eating those words.
Ronald Reagan was a man before he became president. Donald Trump acts like an unlikeable boy that inherited wealth.
If Trump does become president, perhaps he will grow into the job. It could happen. Sounds like you are willing to bet your life on it.
Claiming good ole boy ignorance as a reason not to debate detailed points?
Well, dang it, I eat bacon too, but I don't like Trump.
no good ol boy ignorance, first because I'm a girl, and secondly because when I don't want to talk to a Cruz supporter because I think it would be a waste of time, I just act dumb and they immediately go in search of an intellectual equal with whom to compare their IQs and scratching points. It's my Pavlovian Principled Conservative Gambit. I thought of it all by myself.
I thought your hostility to the concept of intelligence was a horrid piece of self damnation, but that last bit manages to top it. At least you are blissful.
Actually, when I don't want to talk to a Cruz supporter because I think it would be a waste of time, I just act dumb and they immediately go in search of an intellectual equal with whom to compare their IQ and scratching points. It's my Pavlovian Principled Conservative Gambit. I thought of it all by myself.
The Atlantic reported in July, 2015 that Trump had hired actors for $50 apiece to cheer his presidential campaign announcement:

The Atlantic referred to this article (which is the one I think you're looking for):
Donald Trump Campaign Offered Actors $50 to Cheer for Him at Presidential Announcement

It was apparently roughly 3 hours of work for $50.
I can find nothing on Oklahoma, so I'm guessing this is what your friend got through the long and winding grapevine.
Not sure how you'd persuade him about the "paying to attend a rally in Oklahoma", other than by noting it would be all over the Internet.
I have a small bit of skill in finding such things on the Internet. :)
I always remember what Chief Dan George said in The Outlaw Josey Wales:
"Endeavor to persevere." :)
thanks!
I don’t disagree at all with your points on Cruz.
But I stand by my points on Trump.
Once in office, I truly believe a lot of his decisions will be liberal or populist and really upset conservatives - and some will be downright anti-conservative.
Better than any Dem? Of course.
But Trump’s success as an egotistical populist ultimately spells doom for our nation. It’s over as a representative republic.
We wanted a hero in Obama. He has so failed the nation, even proved an anti-hero, that now we want a REAL hero. Enter Trump.
Under all this is our nation is crying for a dictator.
And it will get one.
The nation’s end will still come - just a different route than we expected.
See Alexander Tyler’s cycle of nations. It’s really a cycle of man. And we are at its latter stages.
I lived in Corpus till '68. Great state for a kid to grow up in!
Watch out for them moccasins! :)
Dang, are you Meryl Streep, because we're talking Oscar worthy acting.
