McGrath: Ted Cruz Stands Alone On a Female Draft
Conservative Review ^ | February 8, 2016 | Art McGrath

After last week's surprise statements by two top generals that women should sign up for the draft just like men, Sen. Ted Cruz has set himself apart from his Republican rivals in the race for president by saying unequivocally that the idea is "nuts."

When questioned at a Senate committee hearing last week, the Commandant of the Marine Corps. Gen. Robert Neller and Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley both said they thought women should have to register for Selective Service when they turn eighteen, just like men.

During Saturday's presidential candidate debate in Manchester, N.H., everyone on stage who spoke seemed to be in favor of it.

"I have to admit, as I was sitting there listening to that conversation, my reaction was, 'Are you guys nuts?'" Cruz said of his rivals at a town hall style gathering in New Hampshire the next day. At a later campaign event he addressed the issue again, saying:...

The problem is putting women into combat, whether they are drafted or volunteer for the military. If it’s not on a voluntary basis, then women will be less likely to volunteer to serve in a non-combat role also. I don’t think women should serve in combat, but if there’s a draft I see no reason why they shouldn’t be subject to the draft on the same basis as men. But I don’t think there should be a draft except in a declared war, and I don’t think there will be.

EUREKA!

I believe this is the first issue Cruz ever owned, in months, in the use of a “first person” utterance.

Usually, he hides pristinely behind his slick debate tactic of saying, “I support”, or, “I oppose”, or “federal law says...”.

Never does he say “ain’t gonna happen” about nuttin’.

Everything he says, practically, is always left to happen based on some future debate taking place on Capital Hill.

Never with him.

Yes, and the crazies who are against fossil fuel production should have their power cut first when rolling blackouts are necessary.

So now that you have drafted all of those women who can’t engage and kill the enemy what are you going to do with them?

Trump had a good answer as well by saying he loves women and wants to talk to the generals.

Scott Brown and Trump are all about the white women vote.
...........................................................
Nothing about the white women vote. It was an announcement that he WILL LISTEN to the GENERALS instead of MicroManaging our Military like the politicians have been doing since the 2nd WW. Truman cut off MacArthurs nose in Korea and so along came Vitnam which johnson turned into a hell hole where our troops won, but the victory was given away to the enemy. We have been bedeviled by Washington politician armchair generals ever since. LET the GENERLS have their say and return to winning the wars is what Trump is saying. His answer was far and away the best answer of all!

Agreed. His dad was the best of the best. Read his reports on the state of our military when he was head of the Armed Services Committee. Will make your hair stand on end. Washington playing toy soldiers at the expense of our loved ones. Used to read his reports constantly. A true Patriot.

Nonsense. Draft registration is a political issue and the brass should stay the out of it unless asked to comment by a committee of Congress or the POTUS.

“but if there’s a draft I see no reason why they shouldn’t be subject to the draft on the same basis as men”

But in order to be “fair,” the draft should be split, 50/50 women/men.

That fair and equitable split would thereby, by necessity, require ALL combat jobs to be filled with women in order to fill the ranks, and that means physical standards must be reduced, meaning “women standards” for all men and women.

Once that 14th Amendment equal protection lawsuit is filed by the wimpy feminist “male” insisting women must face the same draft he does, a whole bunch of equal protection arguments will flood the courts and the military. And that will destroy our military. After all, that is the ultimate aim of obozo and his sycophants.

Only a small percentage of military jobs are combat positions. Even back in WWII only about half the troops in a typical division were frontline troops. And far more hold jobs outside of combat units. I’ve heard the figure 10% but I don’t have a source to verify that. But the tail is much larger than the teeth.

Gen. Robert Neller and Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley both said they thought women should have to register for Selective Service when they turn eighteen, just like men. ......................... Maybe it was more tongue in cheek, to bring it out because there is a bill in congress by two R’s to register woman for the draft so it can be discussed and killed. I think our daughters and grand daughters will remain safe. If they desire to join, they will.

And the feminazis would be on the first train to Canada, were a draft on females to actually take place.

“LET the GENERLS have their say. . .”

I'm afraid all that remain are obozo generals. . .embracing the horror that is PC (climate change affecting battle plans, support for homosexuals in the military, women in ALL combat roles, etc)
