Seriously, what is the deal with the gibberish that substitutes for apostrophes when cutting and pasting text? Why can't it be fixed? It makes many posts virtually unreadable. Sorry for the rant, but I have not seen it discussed to any degree and it just seems to be accepted. Can someone please explain this issue and why there is no resolution?
The ultraviolet catastrophe results from the equipartition theorem of classical statistical mechanics which states that all harmonic oscillator modes (degrees of freedom) of a system at equilibrium have an average energy of (1/2) kT.

Whoa!
Your post is asinine. Your analogies are non sequiturs. Are you looking for a ‘good doggie’ treat from Jim Robinson?
The FR budget is right here. https://secure.freerepublic.com/donate/budget
I’ve been watching too many Feynman lectures. I don’t pretend to fully understand it, and certainly can’t do the math, but he makes it pretty accessible.
Many of my comments which I tap out on the keyboard have the same gibberish results so I have pretty much quit using apostrophes and quote marks. I had thought it was a new windows improvement but it happens when I am on the linux box, too.
I appreciate this “new” style. Soon I will learn Persian.
I get sick of this, “JR is the Massa stuff”. I give a tithe and Free Republic solicits me to be here. (read the blog information).
Historically fixes for this site take forever. And God forbid if someone criticizes. Right Brother is right.
Asininity is sometimes assigned by idiots.
It GROWS worse but everyone seems to accept it.
So, I'm an idiot for having a legitimate complaint? Geez, you people are incredible. Apparently Free Republic is a sacred site that does not allow for anything but sycophantic worship of the creation (FR) and it's creator (JR).

What is the full-time developer described in the budget doing all day? This bug has existed for months, and this site never seems to change.
It doesn’t say full-time developer. Where do you see that?
I agree with post 40, come here for the content and don’t dis JR. FR has provided me solace from liberal puke for many years, don’t let it wither.
That’s based on $7k/mo. If it’s not a full-time developer it’s even worse, because it means that FR is spending donation money on $7k/mo. minimum on a contract developer when they could just simply pay ad hoc for the hours used.
The crux of the biscuit is the apostrophe.
Give me a break. I run a software company and yes, we work in California. When was the last time you saw any changes to FreeRepublic? I haven’t seen any. I don’t believe for a minute that this site is actively maintained. Also, any one of my guys could fix this stupid Unicode error in a couple of hours.
Maybe you should take this up directly with the Admin since you don’t like the way FR is being run. Why are you complaining in the forum itself?
My complaint is echoed by many others and is completely on-topic for the thread.
