Cruz Exposes Trump ObamaCare Lies

One of the most amazing abilities Donald Trump has is being able to lie about his own record and get away with it.

-snip-

Republican presidential contender Ted Cruz cross-examined 2016 rival Donald Trump on Thursday's GOP debate stage,

-snip-

"True or false: you said the government should pay for everyone's health care?" Cruz asked Trump.

"That's false," Trump flatly said.

"You've never said that?" Cruz asked, seemingly surprised by the denial.

"I said it worked in a couple countries," Trump quipped.

"But you never stood on this debate stage and said, 'It worked great in Canada and Scotland, we should do it here'?" Cruz pressed.

"No, I did not," Trump replied

The fact is, as Trump told CBS' Scott Pelley in a "60 Minutes" interview, while claiming he would repeal ObamaCare and replace it with - wait for it, government-paid universal health care:

Scott Pelley: Universal health care?

Donald Trump: I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody's going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now.

Scott Pelley: The uninsured person is going to be taken care of how?

Donald Trump: They're going to be taken care of. I would make a deal with existing hospitals to take care of people. And, you know what, if this is probably--

Scott Pelley: Make a deal? Who pays for it?

Donald Trump: --the government's gonna pay for it....

-snip-

During the first GOP debate, moderator Bret Baier said to Donald Trump, "15 years ago, you called yourself a liberal on health care. You were for a single-payer system, a Canadian-style system."

"As far as single payer, it works in Canada," Trump replied. "It works incredibly well in Scotland...

-- The simple statistic is that the cost of health care has gone north of 1/6th of GDP. Not only is that not sustainable, but further growth is impossible. --

I don't know, technology and other changes affect the share that any human activity gets, in the pool of all human activity. It's not really zero sum, over the long haul.

In my view, it is critical to account for human nature, which finds expression in thousands of stories and fables from the Ant and the Grasshopper, to the fist year in the Jamestown Colony, to life under communism and managed economies, to Venezuela, to just plain what thinking people know is right.

All industries have issues with greed, too. Figure out something that is cheap to make, hype it up into "public need," and overcharge your way to riches. See Bill Gates and a host of followup billionaires, Bezos, the facebook kid, and many others.

There is no cure, some fraction of the public will always be stupid, lazy, dishonest, and some combination of those. How to motivate them out of that is one of life's mysteries. But detaching their wallets from their own personal responsibility is not good for the public as a whole. Not only does it undercut whatever pressure ought to exist to fight our human nature, it also creates a pool of cash that is tempting to the truly dishonest and corrupt.

HA HA HA HA!!!

Which even the shorter quotation showed... the “it” being referred to was the plans for the indigent.

How can people let their minds get SO possessed by Satan that they will make lies this huge.

Tell him to take a hike, red tights and all.

Rafael on his last Legs
When he loses TX he is the Walking Tead. Kaput

TX doesn’t even matter at this point. Cruz is polling at 16% in Alabama. 10-12% in FL. Most likely he is going to get shut out of delegates in some SEC states for not making the 20% of vote threshold. TPA Ted is toast.

Yes, it was a fantastic deconstruction of Trump’s duplicitous image he has concocted of having become this great conservative. But, sadly, all anybody is talking about is the Trump/Rubio insult contest.

“There would be no Obamacare if it wasn’t for Cruz putting his buddy Roberts on the Supreme Court.”

Is one of my comments?

Prove it. Someone else said that.

“Cruz will never, ever endorse Rubio and Rubio is far more likely to be Trump’s VP nomination than Cruz.”

It ain’t me saying that Rubio - as in GANG OF EIGHT Rubio - would be a better president than Trump.

That tells me if it’s head-to-head, Rubio versus Trump, then Cruz will support Rubio.

You can certainly be counted on to come up with the ad hominem when you have no other answer.

Just like Donald Trump.

Vacuous religiosity, bad.
Vacuous optimism, good.

Got it.

(and comparing Ronaldus Magnus to Mr. Game Show is like comparing Lake Michigan to a kiddie pool... they both contain water... the comparison ends there)

No, you have just demolished your own strawman.

Trump has not come to be “a great conservative.”

Trump believes that centrist policies too can make America great. Compared with where it is. We have a country that has listed over almost to capsizing. And people seem to want to worry about its brass trim.

Except it isn’t vacuous optimism. It’s optimism that invites the best ideas America can come to a consensus upon.

Why would I give a crap what Glen Beck said

You should give a crap, because your boy Cruz has failed to disavow and disassociate himself from the insane lunatic comments made by Beck who is an integral part of the Cruz campaign.

Let's review:

Glenn Beck claims that God snuffed out Scalia to get the attention of voters to vote for Cruz.

Glenn Beck most recently called all Trump supporters (in addition to Breitbart Chairman Stephen Bannon) of being like "Nazis", specifically comparing Bannon to Josef Goebbels, and Cruz has nothing to say about it.

It can be concluded and extrapolated by Cruz' silence that he agrees with Beck's statements.

And that is shameful.

Sadly, most of this culture is used the slick, smarmy lawyer speak, it’s all they’ve heard for decades. Lawyers should be only in the Judicial Branch...filling the other two with them has led to the mess we are in.

No candidate in our history has been pummeled and lied about in a debate by TWO trained court hyenas. Trump is not a debater, the other two have done only that all their lives. Governing isn’t about debate, it’s about management and EXPERIENCE. Rubio can’t handle his $$, and Cruz is just a candidate with no appeal who will never get more than his small base.

How can a “discussion” like the one here, even BE?

It is crystal clear what Trump said — it was NOT to have government paying for everybody’s healthcare — and people are still denying it. To our faces.

We have trolls from the hot, hot, hot, hot place here. I have never seen so much hell on FR.

Indeed, it was this sort of mindless mood driven mob attitude that brought Hitler to power.

Emotion driven decisons are invariably poor ones.

I apologize. I was referring to two of your postings at the same time. And in the second posting you were only defending what another poster said. I was wrong. You didn't post that. You were just defending that. I honestly apologize again for that. My mistake.

Now if Trump gets his way - You can sue me for Liable, and I suppose Freerepublic can be sued too for hosting the comment. . That's my point.
