What will the RATS do if Cruz, born in Canada to a Cuban father, is the VP?

True Trump supporters will not want a Trump/Cruz ticket, because they won't want to give the RATS the best weapon to destroy Trump's chance of winning.

What a stupid vanity.

Maybe you'd prefer Trump pick a rapidly evolving leftist like Kasich as an olive branch to those useless moderates we hear so much about, and in the hope that his leftist pablum disguised as pragmatic conservatism can deliver Ohio.

Then, just like 2012, millions of conservatives can stay home again and give the weakest democratic presidential candidate since McGovern the White House. You should think before posting stupid vanities.

It is in many other places. Cruz told the Hispanics one thing to get their vote and did another. I saw him pull his crap in the senate on TV. Ted wanted to give them status here. We want them sent across the border..

> Sen Cruz was born a US Citizen by the conditions of his birth. He has never needed to be naturalized. By the conditions of his birth, he was naturally born a US Citizen. This is all constitutional under the authority specificly enumerated to Congress to create a uniform rule of naturalization.

“By the conditions of his birth ... under Congress’s authority to naturalize” Well which is it?

The bill you are talking about removed the Pathway to Citizenship, a poison bill to the bill that never passed.

I did not say Congress authority to naturalize. Please stop putting words in my mouth. I did say under Congress’s Constitutional authority to create a uniform rule of naturalization. By the way, that is in Article I Section * of the Constitution.

Rules of naturalization is a far broader scope than just naturalization. The rules of naturalization includes ALL rules. It includes who is a citizen and who is not. Who needs to be naturalized and who is naturally born a citizen. And as such, Sen Cruz was naturally born a citizen.

Yes. That is what he wants you to think. Obama has an Exec order. He did it to give them status here. Look at the hours he wasted and the budgets he has supported. The fast track is Cruz and Rubio. Cruz likes that Goldman Sachs cash.

No diff

> And as such, Sen Cruz was naturally born a citizen.

Go tell it to Winston Churchill.

Once Churchill served as an officer of a foreign government, he lost his citizenship. See USC Title 8 Section 1481 - Loss of nationality by native-born or naturalized citizen; voluntary action; burden of proof; presumptions

At the age of 19 (1893), Churchill applied for Royal Military College, Sandhurst. As he was accepted, and thus under sub-section A part 3 of the above, lost his citizenship entirely. As such, from that point on was not eligible to serve as President. Since that occurred before he turned 35, Churchill was NEVER Eligible to be President. Therefore, his example is irrelevant.

He never was a U.S. citizen. UNTIL he was made an honorary citizen.

I've got Donald Trump saying the same thing.

People who have been here for years, been hard workers, have good jobs, supporting a family, very , very tough to say ‘you just have to leave, gotta get out’, how do you throw somebody out that’s lived in this country for 20 years. Can’t throw everyone out.

Trump has flipped-flopped on almost every major issue this country faces.

“You are obviously a Cruz supporter who wishes Trump will pick Cruz as VP”

Yeah. Pretty much my position for most of the campaign. Same as a lot of Freepers. I think that includes the owner of Free Republic.

“so you are working hard to convince people of Cruz’s appeal, trying hard to deny what the RATS will do to invalidate the ticket to hand over the presidency to the RATS”

That’s NOT going to happen. And if the demons on the left really have enough power to thwart the outcome (which they don’t yet) then it just means Civil War 2 needs to come sooner than later.

I mean, if conservatives really are too afraid to run a conservative, then the battle is already lost. The left does not care where Cruz was born. Focussing on that will cost them a lot of credibility when they treated it as such a non-issue for the past eight years. The left really hates his conservatism, but they can not target that AND his place of birth at the same time. There is NO advantage for the left to target that.

If anyone disqualifies Cruz for his birthplace, it will be the GOPe. And it will be so they can replace him with someone else. They might even let him get the VP spot and then refuse to seat him so Ryan can take his place. But we have to cross those bridges when we get to them.

As far as Cruz’s appeal, Trump needs to shore up his support from the base. The largest group of the base who is not currently supporting Trump is the group who supports Cruz. Make Cruz the VP, and Trump has enough support for the general. Otherwise Trump will have to make peace with GOPe. One or the other. I think Cruz is his best option. Also, he can negotiate from a position of strength more before the convention than after all the votes have been cast.

Cruz and Trump need to make a deal. It could be contingent on how the remaining delegates are won or lost. But they both need to align against the GOPe before the convention.

Being born in 1874, the laws governing his citizenship at birth are likely to be different than todays. Without researching the conditions of his birth, I will say this.

The constitution requires a person be 35 years of age. Had Churchill been born on US Soil, to two US parents, once he was accepted into Sandhurst, he lost any citizenship status that he may or may not have had. As such he was not a US citzen at the age of 35 and thus was never qualified to be President. Therefore, his example is irrelevant

Yes, but; Cruz wanted status for those who have been here long enough to dump a kid out. You know cross the border and set your anchor.

I don’ think Trump should pick a constitutionally ineligible Cruz. That does not mean I want him to pick Kasich!
You should think before you jump to conclusion and call people stupid.
I think Trump is smart enough to not pick Cruz because he has expressed his doubts about Cruz’s constitutional eligibility due to his birth in Canada.
I think Trump will make a wise choice that will help to win the presidency without having to pick Cruz, one who has eligibility issue that will invite legal challenges and chaos.

However, just as frustrated as you guys who believe Cruz is the ‘conservative’ that should be the president but not getting the support he needs, we are frustrated that you
‘smart’ people fail to see the most important issue right in front of your eyes - the constitution is dismantled by the left and people like you on the right are helping them - you guys don’t care about article 2 nbc requirement for the presidency/VP because the left has made a precedent by letting obama usurp the presidency and now you the ‘conservative’ who love the constitution are trying to let your own ineligible guy usurp the presidency!

If the constitution eligibility issue is considered ‘vanity’, we surely have lost all hopes!
