What has happened to Free Republic? [What difference at this point can it possibly make?]

Posted on 03/17/2016 3:13:11 PM PDT by katwoman5779

Since Obuma was elected to POTUS, I have been coming to Free Republic to get news, opinions and a few laughs. Most of the serious posts were bemoaning the out of control government and what could be done about it. "Oh Whoa is Me!". Then along comes a constitutional conservative. For the first time since Ronald Reagan, we have a constitutional candidate running for the GOP nomination. This man was elected by conservatives to go to Washington and stand up to the elites that no longer listen to the American people. He didn't go to Washington and "fall in" with the crowd. He went there and stood up to them just like he said it would - calling a spade a spade. I'm sorry, but I don't understand how otherwise intelligent people can fall for the likes of Donald Trump. This man was donating to the same people we were fighting to throw out of office the last eight years. Suddenly he is a conservative after years of joining with the liberals to promote big fat bloated government. He is not an outsider. He has been greasing the palms of the slime bags in Washington for 30 years. He can't even define what conservatism is. Wake up America. You are no better than the sycophants that suck up to Obuma. You can't see that Trump is just pushing your buttons with his rhetoric - just like Obuma pushed his sycophants buttons. The hate I see on Free Republic for Ted Cruz, Mark Levin and all the other great conservative leaders remind me of liberal websites. It is disgusting.

I started out liking Cruz, but realized pretty quickly that he’d never win the general election.

Trump has a 67% unfavorable rating among general election voters. He is the only GOP candidate who consistently loses to Hillary in the polls.

For the first time since Ronald Reagan, we have a constitutional candidate running for the GOP nomination.

Except he is not eligible. Cuban father born in Canada.

Sorry but after being against having a president that was born in Kenya of a British father I can not just turn on a dime and say because it is someone on the Republican side that it is ok.

He is not a constitutional candidate and he knows it. That is enough to make me say no to him for president.

Any other office I would consider, with caution because I flat do not trust lawyers and do not vote for them except as last resort. Still I would consider it. But not for president.

I’m sorry you think that Trump supporters are stupid. Maybe some day, when you think back on this time in your life, perhaps while basking in the glory of THE WALL, you will realize that we were all in it together all along, and that some people just saw through Ted’s creepy, phony, self-serving act. I mean, it can’t be long from now, with Bush people in his crew, Lindsey Graham endorsements, and laying the blame for leftist BLM riots at the feet of Trump.... the ~17% of people or so who still support Cruz have to have a breaking point, and surely they will reach it soon. Maybe they donated a lot of money to him or something, and they just don’t want to see, but sooner or later, at the rate Ted is decloaking, even the most die-hard believers will, as you say, “wake up”.

Good luck and best wishes!

Independent thought is not a one size fits all sort of thing.

Your hero went to DC and made hundreds of speeches, held a one man filibuster....and has accomplished almost nothing of note.

Senator Helms, who was a republican in the days when the South considered a Republican one level better than a pedophile, accomplished much more and in fact made the Republican Party respected in NC.

The bottom line is that Cruz can not accomplish any of his promises, otherwise he would have done more than he has done.
Yes he says the right things. But you can find someone like him in any country store, on the BS bench.

Give us one example of a conservative bill Cruz has passed in the Senate?

“I will bet that 98% of your responses will be three single syllabic responses, slightly beyond grunts and farts “

Well you lost the bet, but in classic Cruz fan form, you post the 10th arrogant snob reply that everyone that dares support someone else over Ted is retarded or unintelligent.

Maybe you guys would have better luck if you walked around less with your nose stuck in the air.

I would be gravely disappointed if there was a zot over the thread started by katwoman.

Might as well change the name to Free Trump-public, or somesuch.

I don't understand it; Trump was donating to the same people we were fighting to throw out of office. Suddenly he is a conservative. He is not an outsider. He has been greasing the palms of the slime bags in Washington for 30 years.

The latest Trump bashing goes like this: the evidence clearly shows, Trump has consistently supported establishment candidates, has given thousands of dollars to entrenched politicians, and has surrounded himself with long-time Republican establishment operatives....

Keep in mind, all that time he was donating, Trump was not running for anything. He was using politicians to get business done.

The calculating pols knew this, so Trump was on the politicians/ hit list as a sucker who/d write a check, no questions asked.....political extortion at its finest.

BTW, these same pols are lying low ....maybe running scared now.... b/c I would not be surprised if the candidates confided in Donald about their sordid love life, spilled damaging opposition research WRT their opponents and damning stuff about well-known pols---in order to get bigger donations.

They/re wishing now they hadn't said the things they did.......b/c Donald knows plenty.

========================================

BTW, did you notice you/re true blue conservative Cruz is getting ready to ally w/ the same people who have lacerated, isolated, and demeaned conservatives these past years? Getting his sorry carcass into the Oval Office is Cruz/s main concern....not conservatism.

Ted Cruz, The Convenient Conservative Constitutionalist, needs a refresher course in Free Speech and the First Amendment.

Voting for the Corker Bill is falling in with the crowd, and voting for the Corker Bill is not something a constitutional conservative would do.

I don’t believe he is who he pretends to be.

On top of that, he’s really not likable at all. In fact, he’s easily disliked, if not down right detestable.

Sorry, but I don’t want him as my president.

At this point Cruz is just the latest shill for the globalist GOP party bosses that have been screwing us over. He can’t win a majority of the delegates, and his only role is to block the first nationalist candidate since Reagan. That’s why Linsay Graham is on board. If they keep Trump from a majority they’ll give it to Kasich, Ryan or Romney, bank on it.

Lifetime politicians and lawyers who have had no life outside politics are the worst people for Washington these days.

Sadly, Ted Cruz is in that category.

Yet he beat Ted Cruz like a drum on Super Tuesday. 1.8 million votes to 675k votes in FL&OH alone. Trump won every state in FL bar 1. Poor, middle class and rich. All Trump. Ted Cruz couldn’t dream of such a result.

That and the fact that he couldn’t beat Hillary even if she was in jail. The guy just does not have the cojones to bring it to her in the necessary way to overcome the MSM, the GOP-treasonists and the Democraps all of whom are on her side. This isn’t any ordinary election, this is a war that is being fought for the survival of this country. Hillary wins, the the country will turn into California with Marxists winning every election forever. It WILL be the end of the Republican party AND the USA. They realize this which is another reason why they are going full out on the offensive, they will use every tactic possible, legal and illegal to win this race and the only type of person who can beat them is a vicious pitbull with virtually an unlimited amount of resources. Today the hacker group Anonymous got all of Trumps phone numbers and now millions probably have it as well and are no doubt sending everyone of those phone numbers death threats by the truckload. Could Cruz and his family handle that? And that’s just the beginning.

Mr. Trump hasn’t even really started on Hitlery yet. His momentum is growing, regardless of the onslaught from the media.

If the left wanted Hitlery to face Mr. Trump, they would be going very easy on him. There’s no way they’d be melting down now, trying to make sure he doesn’t get the nomination. Moveon.org and the left would be targeting Cruz if they feared facing him, not Trump.

"Constitutional candidate"? Ted Cruz is not even eligible according to our Constitution. See Article II, Sec. 1, Clause 5.
