What has happened to Free Republic? [What difference at this point can it possibly make?]

Posted on 03/17/2016 3:13:11 PM PDT by katwoman5779

Since Obuma was elected to POTUS, I have been coming to Free Republic to get news, opinions and a few laughs. Most of the serious posts were bemoaning the out of control government and what could be done about it. "Oh Whoa is Me!". Then along comes a constitutional conservative. For the first time since Ronald Reagan, we have a constitutional candidate running for the GOP nomination. This man was elected by conservatives to go to Washington and stand up to the elites that no longer listen to the American people. He didn't go to Washington and "fall in" with the crowd. He went there and stood up to them just like he said it would - calling a spade a spade. I'm sorry, but I don't understand how otherwise intelligent people can fall for the likes of Donald Trump. This man was donating to the same people we were fighting to throw out of office the last eight years. Suddenly he is a conservative after years of joining with the liberals to promote big fat bloated government. He is not an outsider. He has been greasing the palms of the slime bags in Washington for 30 years. He can't even define what conservatism is. Wake up America. You are no better than the sycophants that suck up to Obuma. You can't see that Trump is just pushing your buttons with his rhetoric - just like Obuma pushed his sycophants buttons. The hate I see on Free Republic for Ted Cruz, Mark Levin and all the other great conservative leaders remind me of liberal websites. It is disgusting.

Ted Cruz is not an outsider. Ted Cruz is NOT a Constitutional Conservative. He is an establishment hack. He is a Bush-ite. He now has RINO Lindsey Graham campaigning for him. He plays dirty tricks to get votes. He is a continual liar. When he had the chance to stand up for the freedom of speech and the freedom of assembly, Ted Cruz chose to side with anarchists to get a few votes. Ted Cruz is a loser.

What great conservatives did we get into the Oval Office in the past (since Reagan - or are you claiming he changed nothing)?

Ted Cruz has sold out to the establishment GOP. He will do their bidding. And he’ll lose to Hillary.

Boo-Hoo.

A long time respected poster would know when to drop a topic instead of trying to hammer a BS concern to the owner of the website after the owner gave his stance.

A long time respected poster also wouldn’t have accused the owner of taking money from Trump without a shred of proof.

I agree. There is no debate, just 5th grade playground insults. FR now reads like most liberal sites and I am very sorry to see it.

“Maybe you guys would have better luck if you walked around less with your nose stuck in the air.”

I wish we had a thumbs up button. You’re exactly right. Ted Cruz and his followers are SO self-righteous and high-minded and hypocrites. They call themselves Christian but they play dirty tricks, lie, and connive. They think they are going to get away with this. They’re not.

Trump polls as 66 Favorable; 33 unfavorable, the best of the GOP candidates ( see post 149 of 771)

Which part of "Republican primary voters" did you not understand?

Surprisingly few Cruz zealots left to sputter and vomit out insults.

And I thought it was only the Dems that insisted on echo chambers........

We could have done without “Trumpees” and all the names that part of Cruz’ partisans spewed forth from day one of the primaries.
I chose Cruz after Walker turned amnesty pinp, but I left that camp when he shifted hard left with Glenn Beck, then Neil Bush, then blaming the Moveon.org assaults on Trump.

While I was stumping for Cruz I tried to reign in the people spewing that crap. Very few of us on the Cruz side would tell the folks spewing little derogatory names at the Trump faction, and when those us who did called people on it they assumed that maintaining some level of decorum meant we were all in for Trump.

Since I have had to abandon Cruz, I am still calling the people in that camp on the tone they are setting, and I will counter name calling with the same when they won’t stop.

It’s a fair cop.

I don’t pay any attention to what the MSM says or does. I believe that I understand Mr. Trump’s strengths and weaknesses. However, I would never characterize him as a conservative, he has never been that even though he certainly has some conservative leanings along with some liberal leanings, he’s not easy to pigeon hole.

If he wins the nomination, I will certainly support him wholeheartedly in spite of what many of his supporters have said on this forum.

You are aware no doubt that her ex husband has a different account of events and they were divorced in 1963 well before the child’s conception.
IMO Ted Cruz may have been told a sanitized family history and the misstatement in the book does not reflect badly upon him in any way.

We had a great opportunity to get a great conservative in office—Hillary is seriously flawed. Instead a circus act rides in to town and steals the show with 40% of the vote.

Problem is if we had gotten your great conservative into office nothing would have changed, just like all the great conservatives we got into office in the past

What great conservatives did we get into the Oval Office in the past (since Reagan - or are you claiming he changed nothing)?

Senate.

It was clear from the context that the "office" in question was the presidency.

What possible concern could that cause? Are you afraid that a President Cruz would use an executive order to make everyone play hockey?

The race is pretty much over. Trump will win the nomination, and then he will get spanked by Hillary in the general. I don’t want that to happen, but I’m afraid the die is cast.
