Ted Cruz leads Donald Trump in the Republican nomination contest in Wisconsin, according to a Fox Business Network Poll released Thursday.
Cruz garners 42 percent among Wisconsin likely GOP primary voters, while Trump receives 32 percent. John Kasich comes in third with 19 percent.
Among just those who say they will definitely vote, Cruzs lead over Trump widens to 46-33 percent, and Kasich gets 16 percent.
There is a big gender gap. Women back Cruz over Trump by a 19-point margin (46-27 percent). The two candidates are much closer among men: Cruz gets 40 percent to Trumps 35 percent.
Cruzs advantage over the real estate mogul also comes from self-described very conservative voters, who give him a 36-point lead (61 percent Cruz vs. 25 percent Trump).
White evangelical Christians voting in the GOP primary prefer Cruz over Trump by 49-28 percent. Trump has beaten Cruz among this key voting bloc in more than 10 contests so far, according to the Fox News exit poll.
Cruz is ahead of Trump among those with a college degree (42-30 percent) as well as those without a degree (44-34 percent).
Independents can vote in Wisconsins open primary -- and are more inclined to back Trump (37 percent) than Cruz (26 percent) or Kasich (26 percent).
Meanwhile, independents are equally likely to opt to vote in the Republican primary (50 percent) as the Democratic primary (50 percent).
The Wisconsin primary is April 5. Even so, more than one in five likely GOP primary voters say they might change their mind over the next few days (22 percent). That includes 40 percent of Kasich supporters, 18 percent of Cruz supporters, and 15 percent of Trump supporters.
The ambivalence of Kasich supporters is better news for Cruz than Trump, as the Ohio governors backers are more than twice as likely to name Cruz as their second choice candidate.
Dissatisfaction with the current slate of candidates is clear.
Many wish there were another name on the ballot. If Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker were still in the race, 44 percent of GOP primary voters say they would vote for him. That puts him more than 20 points ahead of the pack: Trump gets 21 percent, Cruz 17 percent and Kasich 12 percent.
In that hypothetical scenario, 59 percent of Cruzs supporters and 31 percent of Trumps, defect to Walker.
Walker, one of the first GOP heavyweights to drop out of the race, endorsed Cruz Tuesday.
and in other news: Cruz is leading in SC, surging in NV, and could pull off a upset victory in AZ.
I heard Trump was tied in Texas and was going to knock Ted out in Iowa.
Unless this mistress scandal blows up into something big, Cruz has a big chance to surge.
Although Trumps fans beieve all of Trumps blunders are strokes of genius, they arent. Trump is tanking big time. He is hated by 65% of the electorate and over 70% of women (and those numbers are before his gaffe on throwing women in jail for abortion).
Cruz, though, to take advantage of Trumps implosion needs to get back on message and quit worrying about Trump.Trump is destroying himself. People do not like him. So why worry about. Get back on message and let Trump self destruct. Give people a reason to vote for you, not against Trump.
Don’t try to understand it; it will hurt your head. Just do a ‘SMH’.
Old news, bad numbers, in Fox’s dreams.
Impartially, i’d say it’s neck and neck.
should be a fun night.
Your flame retardant suit is in the mail. I sent one to CW, 2DV and nathanbedford, LOL. Go Cruz!
You are a liar. Lyin no dems 2016, Lyin no dems 2016, Lyin no dems 2016, Lyin no dems 2016, See how that works?
Another Prince Alwaleed poll.
I respect that as much as that other FoxNews poll that put Cruz within the margin of error v. Trump nationally.
Stinks of Romney astro-turf.

Remember this Saudi prince?
Just after 9-11-01, Mayor Rudy Giuliani told Alwaleed to take a hike and refused his check after the Saudi prince publicly insulted the USA.

Ohio is a an open primary state. Optimum Research that surveyed 6000 respondents across the spectrum found Trump up 31 to 29 Kasich 27 Cruz.
Not saying Trump will win but polling only GOPers might not give the real picture. Polling the wrong people in Michigan gave the wrong result.
That whole website is a joke. I wouldn’t click there on any day.
Thanks, but I’m used to it. All the ad-hominem attacks just reveal their lack of substance. This thread has actually been somewhat civil.
Would you rather pick the PPP poll that consistently overestimates Trump’s support by 4 points and underestimates Cruz’s by 3 points. That would make theirs Cruz 40, Trump 32.
Just for the record, when looking at the internals one discovers that the younger voters and the lower income voters are grossly underrepresented at a rate 2 to 3 times the MOE presented for ‘likely voters’.
Independents are seriously underrepresented as are minorities.
I suspect this also ties in to the methodology of using only landlines and cell phones.
How suspect is this poll? I wouldn’t say it’s suspect, but I would say it’s off by at least one more point to the MOE...maybe 2. The traditional methodology and the weaknesses in groups Trump is stronger in can give rise to honest questions.
The bottom line: go with the average of polls and don’t over-represent this poll, and especially when PPP comes out with a poll that is radically different than this one.
I’m no liar. Nothing you said in your post refutes what I said. Ted Cruz is a liar, plain and simple. Trump, Rubio, Carson and now Kasich all called or are calling Cruz a liar. I think that says something. And his whole campaign is built on a lie - the lie that he has a path to win the nomination. He should be honest and drop out.
After His Cruz LIE Was Exposed, Debunked, And Condemned By Coburn, Trump REPEATED It On Stage
Trump will not apologize....his narcissistic temperament doesn’t give room for that..it’s off his radar....rather he reinvents the narrative to something else entirely, and generally via his long and winded word salads to boast about the wonder and glory of Trump.
