Path to certain failure: NeverTrump + NeverCruz = NeverWin = LostSCOTUS = LostFreedom = LostNation

Posted on 04/13/2016 2:36:02 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Captain obvious here again, but NeverTrump/NeverCruz is not the way. We all have our favorites, but don't lose sight of the mission.

The mission on FR is to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our POSTERITY!!

It's a lot bigger than you or me or our personal opinions or egos. It's about the very survival of our nation and the promise of freedom for future generations.

Reagan said that freedom is never more than one generation from extinction and he was 100% correct.

President Clinton or President Sanders means the end of freedom in America.

Do not let freedom expire on our watch!!

Free Republic will support our Republican nominee whoever he is against the godless Marxist/socialist Democrats in November!!

“Somebody please explain to me how Cruz can win FL”

He doesn’t ... he does not have a chance. All you need to know is how badly he lost to Trump here and how badly he is about to get beat in the NorthEast. Florida is the second home of the NorthEast.

What bothers me about Cruz is that he continues to throw NY Values and Mafia arrows at Trump so he can try to scoop another 4 or 5 delegates, not realizing (or caring) that every time he does this he is insulting more and more Florida voters. Instead of stepping down after NY, he will just fill up his bag of hand grenades and continue to blow up potential voters.

Cruz supporters are going to realize what a terrible mistake it was to run this civil war deep into July. You’re going to realize that, just like his bomb throwing in the senate didn’t advance any cause, he will have destroyed any unity amongst the same “squishy Republicans, Independents and crossover Democrats he is so badly going to need in the swing states.

At 8:01 on election night, because the voters he has insulted stay home, Ted Cruz will lose the great sunshine state of Florida, and with that, the election.

While you’re having a few beers to drown out the loss, you might do well to have a few shots along with it, because the GOP will lose Rubio’s Senate seat as well.
==

Perfect commentary, A+, missed the bonus points though. I believe many of these Tool Fools know exactly what Ted is doing to our chances.

Good speech Jim. I posted this on another thread and I think it should be repeated here.

The sad part of this whole debate between Trump and Cruz supporters is both really want the same thing. I think what it really breaks down to is that Trump voters truly hate the system and want an outsider to break things up and Cruz supporters desperately want someone on the outside but clearly see Trump as a wolf in sheep’s clothing who will deliver a presidency that will describe him as an opportunist who was at worst(but probably likely) a economic conservative and a social liberal. That’s against a person like Cruz who will in all likely hood fight for conservative causes both economic and socially but is such a scummy, lying, dirtbag of a person that Trump voters just plain hate the guy. So what’s a good moral Christian going to do? Vote for the guy that says he aligns with their values, but probably doesn’t(Trump), or vote for the guy who will probably make policy based on their values and say he was like you but really at the end of the day was the furthest from grace.

That’s why while in Oregon the race will probably be decided by then(contested or Trump), I don’t really like either one of these guys, but neither of them can be WORSE than Hillary so I’m going to have to go with whoever is in the general election but I’m going to root for the true outsider and go Trump in this one.

“openly hostile to the survival of the nation” is an accusation that should be used very judiciously, especially when being applied to those whose support Mr. Trump will need in the general election if he is the nominee.

The fact is that in many states so far, Trump won with a plurality, not a majority.

This campaign and even this forum have been so fraught with nastiness and, I’m sorry to say, that despite the epithets and accusations hurled against Cruz on this issue, Trump’s behavior has been marked by rudeness and nasty behavior long before he ever became a candidate for POTUS and his influence is far-reaching. He is conservative credentials are as questionable as Cruz’s being a traitor.

The questions I keep asking myself are whether Trump loves America as much as he loves himself? And even though the GOPe is no friend to the grassroots and will wield its considerable power to subvert the will of the people, is it truly impossible to thwart their machinations?

I wonder if George Washington felt this frustrated and hopeless before he decided to cross the Deleware and changed the course of history.

if we screw up this election, we may be getting a chance to ask Brother George, sooner rather than later.

AMEN! x100!

I’m a Cruz guy, but if Trump wins the nomination...well, at least Trump cares about America! There will be no Constitution if Hillary gets in and makes a couple of appointments. Cruz or Trump - their farts would be better Supreme Court nominees than anyone Hillary would pick!

I’ve already voted in the primaries. My primary season is over. From here on out, it is #NoHillary!

But it is not a tie

Cruz does not have any entitlements to Rubio’s or anyone else’s delegates

down 200 delegates, does not make this a tie

losing the super bowl by 3 touchdowns does not make it a tie

That is loser talk, stop it

It is a tie, since most likely those delegates go to Cruz.

Along with the uncommitted delegates.

If I were Trump or Cruz, I would get both of these delegate to pools to endorse before the convention to lower my ‘magic number’

You can’t count another candidate’s delegates into one column or another unless a) That candidate approves and b)the rules in that state allow it

So no, at this point, it is NOT a tie

Stop wishful thinking and start getting people to vote FOR your guy, instead of voting against the other guy.....

Cruz has been rounding up these delegates.

Trump hired Manafort to try to catch up. Clearly, Rubios delegates are moving to Cruz.

Now Trump or Cruz could both do deal with Kasich.

The effects are dynamic and subsequent votes in follow on states will see the candidate in question as more or less ‘inevitable’

The 2nd ballot won’t matter because their won’t be one

Cruz is playing a loser game

Trump is playing a winner game

Big difference

I know you want to pretend that Cruz is going to win, he isn’t. We all know Cruz is done, it was over a month ago for him. Trump will be the nominee

Or the Republican Party will be disbanded

There is a pool of uncommitted delegates that play in the first round.

Hence the 1100 figure cited for Trump earlier in the day.

Cuts both ways.

No, Donald Trump should read what Jim wrote — and Trump should KNOCK OFF his contemptible whining and moaning. HE IS PATHETIC.

And Colorado is the perfect example — The Colorado delegate selection was handled in 2016, just as it was handled in 2012. If the Trump people and Trump don’t like it, too bad. They should have learned the rules and played by them. The continual complaining gets old.

Doesn’t matter, those uncommitted delegates can change minds right on the convention floor, they are unbound, not guaranteed and some can even be bought

The only delegates that matter are the bound delegates legally awarded to the candidates. Everything else is just speculation
