I was told yesterday that Trump is a liberal Democrat.

My reply:

Build the wall.
Enforce the law.
Deport them all.
End sanctuary cities.
End anchor babies.
Slap a moratorium on muslim immigration.
Cut the taxes.
Cut the spending.
Cut the regulations.
Cut the government.
Cut the debt.
Cut the EPA.
Repeal ObamaCare.
Get the feds out and allow health insurance to be sold over state lines.
Send education back to states.
Get a handle on trade.
Make trade deals in our own best interests.
Bring back capital.
Bring back manufacturing.
Bring back jobs.
Strengthen the economy.
Defend the second amendment.
Defend religious freedom.
Appoint constitutional conservative judges.
Rebuild our military.
Bomb the shit out of ISIS (and take their oil).

End political correctness.
Take the GOP head-on.
Take the media head-on.
Take the liberals head-on.
And win, baby, win.

All of the above on a shoestring budget compared to most of the 16 competitors he’s defeated (after they spent 100's of millions of donor bucks).

No PACs.
No big donors.
No party support.

What’s democrat about any of the above?
What’s not conservative?
What’s not to like?

And I’ll add a few more:

Redo the horrid Iran deal.
Take a serious look at NATO.
Require our allies to pay more for their defense.

Rebuild the Reagan Coalition and attract blue collar workers by making America first again on manufacturing, trade, secure borders, economy and jobs, jobs, jobs!

Make America Great Again!

I am sure that is part of why Mitch McConnell got called a liar on the floor of the Senate by Ted Cruz and deservedly so.

I am glad Cruz has done more than any other senator to defeat obamacare and I am glad that unlike Trump he understands that health care is NOT a government responsibility.

Honor - not a word heard very much any more. I’d like to see those values come back.

This misses the point. We didn’t trust that Romney was a conservative for saying he was for all of this same stuff because they were flip-flops contradicted by statements made before he decided to run for President. Trump has flip-flopped radically on the immigration issue (only since 2012 when he said Romney was too tough on deportation and that we had to show compassion and not deport everybody), gun control and abortion to name a few. Even now Trump says he’ll bring back in the “good” illegals and would not rule out giving up full deportation in negotiations with Congress (he specifically said he would not negotiate away the wall but would not say the same on deportation).

Trump doesn’t want to reform Social Security or Medicare, which is the vast bulk of government spending. He hasn’t proposed serious cuts at all. He has NO plan to cut the debt. A study of his fiscal plan shows it drastically increases the debt.

Trump’s suggestions for what judges he would appoint were not reliable conservative picks. Trump has shown he will not defend religious liberty by saying that Kim Davis had to “follow the law.” Cruz was the one who went against political correctness in that case.

Renegotiating the Iran deal is not the conservative choice, tearing it up is. We can’t negotiate with terrorists.

There’s nothing conservative on this list that Cruz isn’t also for, except he’s been almost completely consistent on everything as far back as anyone can find in his record. And Cruz’s CNBC Squawk Box interview this week showed he has an absolute mastery on economic issues that Trump has never shown, outside of his specialty of real estate issues. Someone saying he’ll do things in short little sound bite slogans is nothing compared to someone showing they understand in detail and in depth how to accomplish those goals.

Trump doing things on a shoestring budget is because he comes in with a celebrity brand name and gets non-stop coverage by the media. None of that has anything to do with being conservative. That media coverage has already proven to be a double-edged sword as it’s caused his favorability to collapse as the media coverage has gone negative. The media is finding out the ratings stay just as good with negative coverage on Trump.

Trump has also said he expects big money, big donor, party support in the general election and will not fund his campaign himself.

And this ignores other issues where Trump is still less conservative, e.g. eminent domain, opening relations with Cuba, being against the fair or flat tax. Or issues in the past he expressed some support for like the auto bailout, TARP, stimulus, etc.

Supporting Trump over Cruz is settling for a McDonald’s hamburger over filet mignon.

“I am glad Cruz has done more than any other senator to defeat Obamacare”

Is that what you consider an accomplishment? That he failed is NOT an accomplishment except in liberal circles.

Well, Romney’s your man now. Along with the entire GOPe. Great team you have there.

No.

I do remember that and remember all the acrimony on these boards about it.

That is why I cannot figure out why we should not thoroughly vett someone like Trump who suddenly thinks he is a conservative.

I remember exactly what happened with W.

I think Cruz is more conservative than W but that doesn’t mean I hate President Bush like so many people tried to make me do back then.

AS I say now, I said then: We should press for the most conservative person and result we can get at all times.

Trump is NOT the most conservative person running

Cruz is.

Cruz kept repeating the lie even after CNN ran a retraction AND after Mrs. Carson herself corrected them at a caucus.

Trump has failed to build a wall across the entire Mexican border.

Can we all reject him now?

Did you read the list of ten accomplishments I gave Jim Robinson?

Cruz is the best candidate running with regard to the values of free republic.

I wholeheartedly disagree, Cruz capitulated to the GOP establishment in order to try to get this to a contested convention.

He easily gave up his conservative principles to do that. The establishment represents, statism or globalism which I will have to remind you, ARE NOT the values of a free republic.

Tempest in a teapot.

Go cry in the corner if it upsets you that much.

I don’t think there was anything wrong with what Cruz did.

It was absolutely legitimate speculation once Carson said he was not going to New Hampshire.

With anyone with half a brain, the older one gets the more conservative they become

It took him 70 years to figure out he's conservative? Sorry but I think his actions over the past twenty years are a better indicator of his true beliefs. 'Right now, he's catering to Republicans.'

If Cruz gains the nomination the GOPE will not be happy.

It is fascinating that the Trump supporters try to have it both ways.

Cruz is a sellout but the Establishment won’t let him win the nomination.

I like #3.

3. Cruz passed a bill out of the senate and it was signed by President Obama — making it a law— that an Iranian ambassador involved in terrorism was barred from the United States.

Do they want a ticker-tape parade? They had to pass a law barring U.S. entry to someone involved in terrorism? This is a joke right?

Right?

I am glad that Cruz stood up for American security.

The ambassador was exempt under US law because he was a UN ambassador.

Cruz fixed the loophole.

I hope you are glad.

I guess we should just let him in because you think it is a joke?

Hope I’m not zotted but a response

>>I was told yesterday that Trump is a liberal Democrat.>>

he is and deep down you know it.

>>>Build the wall.>>>

I live in Texas. It will never be built. Are you willing to eminently domain 1200 miles of private land for that? It’s bad enough the feds want to push us off fed lands in Nevada, Utah and Idaho now you are ok with confiscating 1200 miles of private land in Texas. Yea ok good luck with that.

>>>Enforce the law.>>>
The answer whoever the new President hopefully a Republican, hire Christie and Guiliani, problem solved

>>>Deport them all.
End sanctuary cities.>>>
That we both know will never happen. You live in Calif I live in Texas, do you honestly think the government will pick up and remove at the minimum 1/4 of our population. I don’t know what they smoke out there but I’ll have some of that, no, not really but too it will never happen.

>>>End anchor babies.>>>
I have no problem with babies born here on our soil as long as the illegal/legal pay all their own medical bills. Heck my GF and GGF came here from England and Ireland years back, I’d hope others too are welcome without the granny state freebees

>>>Slap a moratorium on muslim immigration.>>>
Yep, until we can confirm who they are and they assimilate and don’t isolate into a nation within a nation like in Europe or Indian reservations. Nope. When Indians move off the reservation and assimilate their problems (and probably heritage) will disappear but as a people they’ll be better off rather than always claim a victim status.

>>Cut the taxes.
Cut the spending.>>>
That’s an oxymoron. Jim, we are both baby boomers, there are 5 times more of us retiring everyday than those joining the workforce. Please tell me how that’s gonna work out with lower taxes and spending cuts??? Granted I’m a social conservative, religious conservative and tea party conservative (notice I didn’t say Republican) but I’m not sure what the answer is for the above. I more than anyone would see illegals gone and manufacturing brought back to America just because of my life story. When I was young growing up in a large poor Irish family one thing I learned starting at 12 years old is, there was always a way to make money legally without thugging like today. As a youngster I always had at the least 1 job and at 1 time had 3 jobs from 12 to 46 and was able to retire early at 46, 13 years ago. I retired in 2003 and like those retirees 20 years older than me expected our life savings to grow but it’s kind of hard for many of them *no so much me) to live with zero or now they even speak of negative interest rates?? Or a hair cut?? Why is it that those that lived their lives responsibly have to pay and pick up the tab for people who are not??

>>>Cut the regulations.
Cut the government.>>>
Ding ding ding, let’s do it and NOW. That there would cut massive spending.

>>>Cut the debt.>>>I think what I said above answers that but if you wish to believe Trump will bring it to ZERO in 8 years. Well I’ll leave it at that.

>>>Cut the EPA.>>>
Yep, another way to cut spending, I like it

>>>Repeal ObamaCare.>>
I think soon Obamacare will bankrupt itself. Hopefully we won’t go to single payer and the government pays for everybody. I want to believe we can end it before that happens.

>>>Get the feds out and allow health insurance to be sold over state lines.>>>
One Trump program I wish would happen

>>>Send education back to states.>>>
Yep, more federal cuts, I like it

>>>Get a handle on trade.
Make trade deals in our own best interests.>>>
I think just for national security we should bring back manufacturing jobs. I hate that a tariff would create global unreast especially with all the jobs lost in China and Asai but SORRY. I’d like my grand kids to be able to scoop up a low wage job to both put money in their pocket, teach them some responsibility and give them some experience. (sadly the snowflakes of today if they can pull themselves away from their phone mostly have never even had 1 job)

>>>Bring back capital.
Bring back manufacturing.
Bring back jobs.>>>
We need someone way smarter than me to figure out that answer for sure, for national security for sure.

>>Strengthen the economy.>>
I think solving the above would take care of that.

>>>Defend the second amendment.>>
OMG, please don’t go there. Can you believe Sanders was proud to announce he is a D- from the NRA. Fact is, the government will never take my guns period ever.

>>>Defend religious freedom.>>>
We better get a handle on this thing real real fast because we are going extremely against religion now. I hate to say it but since Obama I’ve been telling my Catholic family Obama is pushing gay marriage into our churches and lives via lawsuits. It’s scary how far left we have gone.

>>>Appoint constitutional conservative judges.>>>
Amen to that but good luck with the GOPe

>>>Rebuild our military.>>>
As a Navy vet, I won’t even get into the recent flybys or surrender to Iranian forces.

>>>Bomb the shit out of ISIS (and take their oil).>>>
Wouldn’t it be great if we pushed back against the libs in 2003 when they claimed it was a war for oil?

>>>End political correctness.>>>
How about if we make reporters be forward like investor scammers and tell us out front who they voted for are the dems etc etc. That there will expose those for who they are and what there agenda is.
>>>Take the GOP head-on.>>>
I want to believe that the GOP can still be saved. I know they’ve ostracized us tea partiers but I want to believe they can still be saved.

>>>Take the media head-on.
Take the liberals head-on.>>>
I think I explained above but for sure the media and liberal are one in the same aren’t they?

>>>And win, baby, win.>>>
OMG. I so wish. I honestly thought Romney would take down the agitator but like I’ve said over and over I will vote R no matter what. Jim, I admit I’m still a Cruzer (I’m from Texas) and always will be but here’s my major beef.
To me it’s comical that the democrats can run somebody like Sanders. But Hillary, are you frigging kidding me?? If Trump is the nominee can you even imagine all the dirt he can throw at her. I can’t imagine the dems will put her up, I still think they’ll put Biden or maybe even Kerry, but Hillary are you kidding me? Numbers may look bad now but we will Mondale/Dukakis her. It will be a wipe out but only if we unify behind 1 candidate.
