My Open Letter to Ted Cruz after the NY Primary
Vanity | April 20, 2016 | Jeff Head

Posted on 04/20/2016 8:29:04 AM PDT by Jeff Head

An Open Letter to Ted Cruz

Senator Cruz,
April 20, 2016

I wanted to write this letter to you in the hopes that you will get it and be able to read it.

I have been, and am, a supporter and admirer of yours.

You have been a staunch supporter of the constitution, conservative values, and stood (many times alone) against a GOP Establishment that has not kept faith with the conservative base of the party who electe them.

I have supported you from afar as you won offices in TExas, including your stinning victory for the US SEnate. I have supported you through these Presidential primaries and worked in my own area to help yo win Idaho. I have sent money into your campaign.

Now we have reached a stage where things are coming into focus.

I know, as an individual with the will and the stamina and dedication to run for President that you are absolutely convinced of your need to win this race.

However, reality is now showing that mathematically that victory is out of reach through the primaries.

I know you can, and that you seem willing to try and do all in your power to take the fight to the convention and somehow stop Donald Trump from getting the delegates he needs so you can fight him on the convention floor and win the nomination.

As a devout Christian, as an American who loves this nation and the Constitution, I urge you not to do so.

I believe the single worst thing that we could do, that would almost assuredly lead to a Hillary Clinton victory, is to have an ugly convention fight that ends up taking the nomination away from a man who will have earned the lfar largest share of the vote, and who will have also probably come within a hair's breatdth of winning the necessary delegates. Quite frankly, after his New York victory and depending on what happens on April 26th, I believe it very possible, perhaps even likely, that he will get to the delegates necessary before the convention in any case.

I know the GOPe and many who have had the most vile things to say about you are now hoping to use you to stop Donald Trump. Their support fo you is feigned and they will throw you to the curb the instant they can in order to retain their own power...and, in my pwn estimation, they do not care if it means Hillary Clinton being elected to do so.

I have studied your positions and your speeches and I agree with them and support them whole heartidly. But I have also studied the positions that Trump has now put out and the detail. They are very similar to your own senator. I guess the big question is whetrher we believe Donald Trump will actually follow through and implement them.

If he has the right people around him, helping him, showing him how...I believe he will.

Senator Cruz, a raucus, ugly fight at the convention will almost ensure that one or the other large segmnent of the people who voted in the GOP primaries will be very angry and we will lose many of thiir votes in the general, or worse, they will try a 3rd party run.

Either of those scenarios hands the election to Hillary Clinton or the DNC.

As a nation we absolutely CANNOT afford a 3rd Obama term or worse. The impact to the Supreme Court, to foreigh policy, to our financnes, to a continued erosion of moral values, and almost every other ccritical national interest would all be catastophic.

I plead with you sentor, be the voice of reason. Be the uniter.

You are in a unique position (and God has placed you there) to be able to do this at this time. I know it is not the way you or I envisioned you being able to do it. But it is the truth nonetheless.

Should Trump do well on April 26th and then in Indiana, I urge you to meet with Mr. Trump and be willing to set aside pride, war hatchets, and whatever is necessary to come to an accomodation between the two of you that unites the party behind what will be his candidancy.

I know this is a hard thing to consider...but in the interest of this nation I ask that you prayerfully consider this and stnad up and unite the party so we can win in November.

And then work with Mr. Trump to implement all of those good things that both of your candidacies represent, and then trust in God to turn the tide. I know He will...I know that if the policies set forth are impleneted, he will help us turn this nation around, and there is the very strong possibility that we will have 16 years of strong American leadership to do so.

Sincerely, and as a fellow American and brother in Christ,

Jeff Head

But that would be the end of Cruz’s Presidential aspirations forever. I don’t want that.

Trump people are necessary for Cruz to ever win the Presidency. Stuffing them by arriving with fewer delegates and winning will make them permanently opposed to you. Cruz will never win the nomination ever again. And, he’ll lose the general because the Trump people will at best sit on their hands and not vote. Look around FR. Have you ever seen a more unhinged emotional lot?

So, while you and I may like our ideological purity and to have someone (Cruz) pursue it, doing so in this instance will cause a loss for the rest of our lives.

Cruz is the right guy. 2016 is the wrong year. He has another 25 years to get it right. Use 2016 as the year a Cruz candidacy becomes a coronation in 2020.

Thanks, Jeff...but if DT does not get a majority, then Ted can win at the convention...why don’t we let that happen? If DT gets a majority before the convention, then fine, and he wins on the first ballot...THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO WORK

Because Trump people will vote Hillary just to stick it to Ted.

I wish it weren’t so. But look around FR. Do you think they wouldn’t do that?

This is what happened: the RATS knew the country would vote for a mangy cat if it would promise to reverse all the damage they had done to Americans. So they had to put up someone to run under the R banner using populist allure: hence Bill’s little talk with Donald. The most painful injuries Obama gleefully maimed us with would be the running platform, promising to repeal and reverse them. Americans bit hard on the bait, propelling Trump further than he himself expected. Now an anonymous aid let slip today that Sanders is a VP possible pick for Hillary until he wears out next year and she replaces him with Castro. Then she declines a second term and Castro wins ‘20.

This is what Cruz discovered and why he is running to win: the RATS have us checkmated. Sound far-fetched? Why? Donald has repeatedly told conservatives who he is, but half are so desperate to reverse the last 8 years they’ll believe ANYBODY who promises to stop the bleeding.

Jeff, we differ regarding our views of Cruz, however as someone who was supporting Cruz long before Trump ever got into the race, I say this sincerely:

IF somehow, some way, it had been possible for Senator Cruz to bring YOU into his campaign, instead of that maniac Glenn Beck, I am convinced that you would have exerted a far more positive influence on him, on his campaign staff, and that he would be in a far different place than he finds himself today. It was the ascendancy of Beck that marked the beginning of the end for the Cruz campaign.

Whether Senator Cruz will take your advice remains to be seen, I hope he reads it.

Nice thoughts Jeff. I appreciate the tone and I agree with you.

I started out this political season telling a person that I wouldn’t even read Trump’s platform because I couldn’t see myself ever supporting him.

Trump announced, and I liked some of what I saw. A few weeks later, I found myself deciding to keep the door open for him. I wanted folks to feel comfortable at least listening to him.

As time went by, Trump surprised me again and again. His platform was solid. He was attracting a lot of support. He had all the things I wanted. I decided to support him.

At this point I realized a lot of people liked Ted, and I thought highly of him too. I suggested the ticket Trump/Cruz and was happy to do so. I wasn’t the only person to do so, or even the first. It seemed like a good fit.

I envisioned Trump for 4 or 8, and Ted for another 4 or 8. I thought we could get a good 16 years out of it. The nation would surely be blessed.

And then it started. The talk of Trump being a Leftist, and Ted being almost perfect. Both started to grate on me. I looked into Ted’s background and wasn’t favorably impressed. I didn’t see him as a Conservative’s Conservative.

I won’t go into the reasons now. It’s pointless.

All I can say at this point, is that after watching Ted allow himself to become the Great White Hope for the RNC/GOPe, I can not longer support Ted for anything.

I appreciate the fact you didn’t suggest Ted be the vice-president. You may have wanted to. I think Ted’s supporters will also.

I don’t. I do not consider Ted to be one with me opposed to the GOPe. He has destroyed all the respect I had for him.

If not the V.P. slot, I had hoped he would be a SCOTUS appointee. I no longer support that either.

This is not the position I had hoped to find myself in at this time. It actually saddens me to have observed what I have.

At any rate, thanks for your thoughts and effort on this.

I think you did a good job.

“why is this in Breaking News?”

******

Because it is HUGH, series, and on this animal farm, some are more equal than others.

Prediction: Whoever gets the nomination, there will be many a FReeper posting his opus as breaking news with a #NEVERTRUMP or #NEVERCRUZ hashtag.

I have supported Ted Cruz for a good while and will continue to do so.

That said, I would be more receptive to Trump if he could just say that in past years he did what he had to do and became what he had to become when he was supporting Democrats...because he was, after all, a business guy swimming in the very liberal democrat dominated waters of the Media and NY City. Simply doing what he had to do to win and get what he wanted. That, in reality, however, he was being completely fake back then in order to navigate in those treacherous waters...laughing at them (the Libs) behind their backs all the time. And, that now that he is running for office his true opinions and feelings are what we are seeing...and not just another version of becoming and doing what he thinks he has to do to win and get what he wants.

Asking Conservatives to believe his opinions have “evolved” is just too much of a stretch for me.

That said, should he get the nomination, I will vote for him. Getting a proverbial “pig-in-a-poke” at least leaves open the chance that once in office he will actually prove to mostly be conservative...which is a far better choice than going for someone you know is corrupt to the core and who without a doubt will do and stand for everything that enslaves the American people to big government.

/What specifically has Cruz done that benefits Texans?/

In the landmark case of District of Columbia v. Heller, Cruz drafted the amicus brief signed by the attorneys general of 31 states, which said that the Washington, D.C. handgun ban should be struck down as infringing upon the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Cruz also presented oral argument for the amici states in the companion case to Heller before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

In addition to his success in Heller, Cruz successfully defended the constitutionality of the Ten Commandments monument on the Texas State Capitol grounds before the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court, winning 5–4 in Van Orden v. Perry.

giving a 21-hour Senate speech in an effort to hold up a federal budget bill and therefore defund the Affordable Care Act.

Among Cruz’s few close allies in the Senate is Mike Lee of Utah. Cruz has expressed pride in his reputation for having few allies, saying in June 2015 that he has been vilified for fighting “the Washington cartel.

CRUZ was fighting GOPe while Trumper was profiting from the UNIparty and Procuring for / Financing the UNIparty.

LIKE UNIparty?...vote Trumper.

Otherwise I will go with the MAN that KEPT his WORD to the
CONSERVATIVE Voters that selected and elected TED CRUZ against most of the GOPe elected goobermunt officers of Texas and against Huckleberry Squish formerly of FauxNews.

and then there was something about “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” that was LOST for us until TED CRUZ.

Perhaps you have forgotten...the Gang of Eight:

Sen. Michael Bennet, D-CO
Sen. Richard J. Durbin, D-IL
Sen. Jeff Flake, R-AZ
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC
Sen. John McCain, R-AZ
Sen. Bob Menendez, D-NJ
Sen. Marco Rubio, R-FL
Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-NY[4]

Conservative Texians have NOT forgotten.

other than those things...nothing.

We will still have Ted Cruz fighting for Texans in the Senate. It’s a win win.

I don't think it will be for long, though. My hunch, is that President Trump will nominate him for the Supreme Court. A position, he is well suited.

If Ted Cruz truly cared for his country, this is exactly what he would do.

If he cares for himself more than his country, he will follow the path you warned him against.

Time will reveal his true priority: country or self.

My guess is that Ted prefers the TV face time and establishment money to your reason.

...that and Ted is probably hoping for a Hillary win and status quo in Washington D.C. He is part of the oligarchy now after all, having paid his dues to the money-masters.
