Ted Cruz: Trump Is ‘Afraid’ to Debate
Breitbart ^ | 04/20/16 | Pam Key

Posted on 04/20/2016 8:23:27 PM PDT by writer33

Wednesday while campaigning in Hershey PA, Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)said his rival Donald Trump was “afraid of a debate” with him because he lacked “substantive solutions” on policy.

Cruz said, “What I agree is that the Democratic process works, and Donald whines and complains when the voters reject him. The voters are going to decide. We’ve won five states in a row. Donald won his home state, which surprised nobody. And it’s the people — we are seeing Republicans uniting behind our campaign. Because if Donald is the nominee, Hillary wins and she wins by double digits. The stakes for our country are too great to continue down this disastrous economic road and this foreign policy that empowers our enemies. And so I couldn’t be more encouraged at seeing the unity we are having across the country. Donald’s desperation had everyone wanting to just give him the race. It shows that he’s scared when the people decide. You know, if Donald had confidence in his positions, we’d have a debate in Pennsylvania, before Pennsylvania votes. What is Donald Trump saying to the people of Pennsylvania that he thinks they don’t deserve a debate? What does it say about the corrupt big government Democrats that they’re willing to have debates. That Hillary Clinton is more willing to have her positions challenged than Donald Trump? I think that’s disgraceful. I think any candidate owes it to the voters to defend their positions.

Who’s “we” bucko,

"We" is where collectivist cowards hide and/or loot.

Ayn identified it as the most evil word in the English language.

Animal Farm said at the end, you couldn't tell the difference between the men and the pigs.

You can no longer tell the difference between Cruz supporters and the GOPe. 4 legs Good, 2 legs Badetter.

At this point Trump doesn’t need to debate anybody. He knows full well he can learn how to debate when he goes up against Hillary.

Conservatism is a badge they wear just to get elected.

It’s time to DO something. Like build a long tall wall.

Cruz lost New York completely because Cruz lost to Trump in their debate about New York Values. I think Cruz should think more carefully about what he is asking for here.

Cruz supporters and the GOPe.

I should note that there are sincere Cruz supporters ... I'm talking here about the Trump-Is-Stupid supporters, whom, as Buckley said, I won't insult by pretending they believe what they are saying.

Trump supporters feel a seismic shift coming, and it disturbs the overweening confidence they profess to cover up their sub-conscious doubts about the man. Delegates at the county level are real people, not behind gates and big fences like the upper-echelon gop-e guys are. I sense THEY sense that backing a liberal will destroy the conservative stronghold they helped build in ‘10 and ‘14.

Baloney. There were way too many “meetings” already. If a person can not learn from those, then do some research. Everyone I have talked to were fed up with them.

how many ‘debates’ do we need?

and since they’ve turned into nothing more then a way for the establishment to ambush Trump... he has nothing to gain by attending.

“It was Cruz who walked over to the House of Representatives and pissed off Boehner in the process to lobby against the Gang of Eight.”

That little publicity stunt had zero effect.

If David Brat hadn’t primaried out Eric Cantor Boehner would of pushed a modified version through with democrats and Rinos.

Ted’s big on showmanship and the grand meaningless gesture.

.... A little over seven months until the big day on Nov 8th!!!

.... Hopefully the debates between Trump and Hillary will be substantive and going head to head on actual issues and not just name calling and making fun of each other.

It was Jeff Sessions who wrote a briefing paper on the Gang of 8 bill and then briefed the members on it. The Gang of 8 bill passed the Senate 68-32. Cruz provided some assistance to Sessions on the briefings, but his efforts were not decisive. I know because I was involved in lobbying on the Hill to stop it.

What really stopped the Gang of 8 bill from being taken up by the House was the defeat of Eric Cantor in the primary by Dave Brat. Sessions credited it for the defeat of the bill. Cantor was getting ready to put forth his own Dreamer amnesty bill.

I worked with the Brat campaign and my organization made over 40,000 robocalls in Cantor's district telling the voters what Cantor was going to do. We played a small part in the defeat of Cantor.

Cruz is like the rooster who claims credit for the sunrise. He was a minor player in the defeat of the Gang of 8 bill.

And Cruz Amendment 5 to the Gang of 8 bill that was opposed by Sessions is absolutely disgusting. He wanted to increase H-1B visas by 500% and he cited a bogus study from Brookings touting all the jobs immigrants create. Pure BS. Cruz supported amnesty as well and had a conversion on the way to Cleveland. Why do you think Sessions, Kris Kobach, and Phyllis Schlafly chose to endorse Trump? Or why Steve Miller, Sessions' top staffer on trade issues, moved over to the Trump campaign?

I see no evidence of leading

If there is no leading, then why do you incessantly call us followers? Now maybe in your opinion he's leading a bunch of stupid anti-conservative morons ... but ... clearly ... he is leading.

And if we are all so stupid ... but were to do as you say and switch to Cruz, wouldn't that mean that stupid people follow Cruz?

There's too much contradiction in your statements ... you might want to check why you're contradicted. Usually it's a symptom of gross rationalizing ... ultimately the contortions you get into to ensure your conclusion begin to contradict each other.

Like Cruz getting angry at the media today ... you begin to sound stubborn and angry, when everyone else sees what's obvious.

Do you know what Pride is? Not talking about ego here ... talking about the type of pride that deeply blinds one to what's in front of them? Is it possible you subconsciously are parroting what Cruz is going through? Expectations which reality is not meeting, and a stubborn unwillingness to stop forcing your expectations on the truth?

Are you perhaps intellectual, clever, an arguer - debater even - but neither congruent nor wise?
