Video description: Being completely ignorant of history, the left has put a gun-totting, democrat-shooting, Republican on the $20 bill. By all measures and means, today most leftists would HATE Harriet Tubman...and she'd likely shoot them too!

exactly might point!
Harriet Tubman had ZERO influence on our country!
Had she never lived... not a single significant thing would be different about our country.
The entire process for picking the replacement was flawed from the start.
Instead of picking a more worthy replacement... among the MANY people who have contributed greatly to the history of our country... they limited the search to women.
Which “women” from US history are worthy of placing on the $20 was basically the question.
um... NONE. Should have been the answer!
Sorry, but that’s just the fact of the matter.
Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, and Tubman? Even a kindergartner could point out the obvious magnitude of importance difference between Tubman and the others.
If you want to place Tubman on a bill? fine. Then switch them ALL out with people of Tubman level of importance, because trying to place her along side the others is akin to carving her face on Mount Rushmore, it makes no sense.
Wonderful.
But which form of currency will bear the likeness of a Jew, a Hispanic, and a Transsexual?
They need representation, too.
I thought that Tubman was the best choice if they were going to add a woman to paper currency (she was a true hero, and as brave as they come; Susan B. Anthony would be good, too, but she already had her chance and Treasury blew it for her by giving her that nearly quarter-sized dollar coin), and the populist rabblerouser Andrew Jackson (whose main achievements were winning a battle after we already had agreed to a ceasefire, relocating Indians to Oklahoma, and founding the most destructive political party in U.S. history) was the obvious choice to be replaced. Alexander Hamilton should remain on the $10 bill.
Of course, I would have preferred for Ronald Reagan to go on the $20 and Tubman to go on the $50, with General Grant being given honorable discharge, but that wasn’t going to happen under Obama.
spend a little time and investigate the Union commander she is associated with
that is sure true , and I do not dwell on the distant past so much. but I’ll be darned if I will celebrate those who used to shoot and kill my kin.
My kin were farmers that answered their State’s givernors call . They dud nit keeo slaves , yet lateron their property was pillaged ,buildings burnt and livestock stolen . Hell they even took the fence rails . They me I gotta love them ? We southerners have long memories.
Now, we can’t go putting every republican who shot a democrat on the currency. There’s not that many numbers in the system.
I don’t know. Maybe there’s one woman out there who has that much influence; I’m biased. But yes, I admit I’m hard-pressed to think of it.
Just thank God they didn’t put ugly Eleanor on there - yet. Blatant socialist scum. I wish they’d get rid of her husband on the dime.
And as an aside - once again, John Adams gets dissed.
Like I said, I have no problem with Tubman.
The issue is with the timing, and who is doing it, and why.
...and let's not forget that Washington and Jefferson were racist slave holders! Let's take them off our currency and tear down their memorials, and replace them with more "minorities," just like Obama wants us to to. /s
With so many conservatives repeating the Left's talking points on this and other controversial issues, is it any wonder that the Left wins one cultural battle after another? It's the same thing that we got from the opportunistic sleaze Nikki Haley siding with Al Sharpton and against the South Carolinians who wanted the Confederate Flag to fly in honor of their forebears.
Oh, and the founder of the Democrat party and a populist.
Good point. Andrew Jackson wasn’t all that. I don’t especially approve of Alexander Hamilton, he may have been in cahoots with the British at one point and he supported a centralized government and bank.

Replace Ulysses Grant on the bill, he was one of the few Presidents who is even worse than Barack Obama.
Uh, whut ?
General Grant helped win the war, but President Grant botched the peace. Reconstruction was so poorly administered and heavy-handed that it caused the KKK, kept the country divided needlessly after the war, and helped corrupt bureaucrats get rich off the taxpayers. In the process, it cause the deaths of many innocent black people and exacerbated a racial divide for generations.
His administration was scandal after scandal and multiple financial problems, most notably the Panic of 1873.
The fact that Grant accomplished anything positive in his life, even if outside of elective office, certainly ranks him ahead of the execrable Zero, who unquestionably earns the rating of worst in history. One of the few Presidents who demonstrably will leave office having left his country in far worse shape (economically, socially, morally, spiritually) than he inherited it.
I don’t want to get into a discussion on reconstruction but, we have still racial problems because of the bastards who wouldn’t allow Blacks to have equal rights, period. Blaming it on Grant is ridiculous.
My opinion of him, American hero. Maybe not a great President but I certainly would have voted for him over dem Horatio Seymour Butts and kooko bird Horace Greeley. Deserves to be on money? Eh, I wouldn’t totally shaft him, at least leave him on the back of the 50. Worse than Obama? Of course not. Of course not.
Changing the money, Reagan belongs on something, I probably would not approve any other changes until that happened. I don’t like that it’s feminists pushing for his. And I don’t like that Jack Lew can apparently decide by himself? Congress should decide.
That said, Tubman, good choice, deserving. Thank God they didn’t put that proto-Hillary scum Elanor Roosevelt on it. I think she’s going on the back of something. Barf.
Jackson (D), if they were gonna shaft someone I’m glad it was him. Kind of a cool guy, but I wouldn’t have voted for him. The democrats were NEVER the good guys but I think he’d be disgusted with the current state of his party.
Hamilton, “in league with the British”? Well I heard that the Jeffersonians are in the league with the French revolutionary radical scumbags! Give me the British over them. And give me an evil bank over an agrarian fantasy. I don’t want our new nation to be some backwater! ;d
The GOP is descended from the Federalist Party, Hamilton was a key founding father, key figure in early conservatism, the first Treas Sec, he absolutely should stay on the 10. It’s ironic that the fact that some Broadway guy making a musical about him may have saved him but, whatever.
Oh, did you know Jefferson is on the 2? (And yes there are 2s).
I have some, I tried to use some at Dunkin Donuts and the woman wouldn’t take it. Rather than argue (it’s legal tender, they have to take it) I just gave her a 5.
Jackson (D), if they were gonna shaft someone Im glad it was him. Kind of a cool guy, but I wouldnt have voted for him. The democrats were NEVER the good guys but I think hed be disgusted with the current state of his party.
Can you say with a straight face that Harriet Tubman was a more important historical figure and contributed more to the development of our nation than Andrew Jackson, whatever you think of his specific policies? There may be Presidents and other historical figures who are more worthy of being on the $20 than Jackson (I'd have no complaints if Jackson was replaced with James Madison or John Adams), but you know perfectly well that Harriet Tubman got to the front of the line because she's female and black. Helping free a few dozen slaves (mostly family and friends) is all well and good, but it's nowhere near the historical importance of about 100 other American historical figures that most people can list right off the top of their head. The problem isn't so much that Jackson is being removed, it's that he's being replaced by someone of much lesser significance for the sake of political correctness. It's sad to see so many people here taking the same side of this issue as Jack Lew and Obama.
As for the Democratic Party in the time of Jackson, there are some people on this thread who seem to think that Jackson deserves to be dishonored because he's a Democrat (I guess this means that Jefferson needs to be replaced by some token minority too, since his Democratic-Republican Party was the Democratic Party). Only the historically ignorant think that there is anything in common ideologically between 19th Century Democrats and the Democratic Party of today. What does Grover Cleveland have in common with Barack Obama? The Democratic Party of the 19th Century was the party of decentralism, states' rights, and free trade/free markets, more so than the Federalists/Whigs/Republicans. The Bourbon Democrats in particular were basically the libertarians of their day. On the trade issue, I'm actually closer to the 19th Century Republicans than I am to the Democrats, but that doesn't mean that I'm stupid enough to see Jefferson, Jackson or Cleveland as some kind of precursor to Obama or Hillary Clinton. Both parties have gone through dozens of ideological realignments and re-alliances over the past 150 years, and that retrojecting today's Democrat vs. Republican lines into the debates of 150 years ago is pointless.
I have a LOT of 2 dollar bills, in barely-used condition.
People do look at them strangely.
I’ve spent some at my local CVS. No trouble there. But this donut woman (who sounded like a recent immigrant)...I may as well have handed her a live trout or something. ;d
No, you're right on that point. No woman has come close to contributing as much as any man currently on money. No woman was a founding father, or has ever been a President or a war hero General. Good point.
As for the democrats, yes their populist agrarian nonsense of the early to mid 19th century was the ideological antecedent of modern socialism. That doesn't mean they were pond scum who never did anything good but speaking for myself, I still wouldn't have voted for em. I think Jackson would hang every democrat politician today and a whole lot of Republicans too. His finest moment to me was he threatened to kick the *ss of anyone trying to secede from the union.
Cleveland was easily the best democrat President (not counting Jeffersonian Republicans). Civil rights is probably the only major issue where I'd have had a major problem with the Bourbon democrats. That post-civil war period was an interesting time. Sometime between Polk and Cleveland the dems went from "Manifest Destiny" (which appeals to me, though I wish we could give Cali back at this point) to anti-imperialists (I probably would have agreed with Harrison on annexing Hawaii, though likewise I wish now we could un-annex it).
Anyway this changing the money wasn't my idea, I would not be inclined to approve it. However since they're doing it replacing Jackson with Tubman is far from the worst outcome in my opinion, that's all I'm saying.
If they had replaced Hamilton with Eleanor, I'd be livid. I'm not livid over this but I certainly respect the position of those that are.
