Trump: You Bet I Support Raising Taxes on the Rich
Townhall ^ | 04/21/2016 | Guy Benson

GUTHRIE: Do you believe in raising taxes on the wealthy?

TRUMP: I do. I do – including myself. I do.

That was...this morning, in an interview that featured some other controversial statements.  In fairness to Trump, he's been using the "raise taxes on rich people like me" line for months, embracing Obama-style class warfare tax gimmicks like the 'Buffet Rule.'  But raising taxes on anyone, an outcome Trump just re-endorsed, is not what his formal policy agenda proposes.  Just the opposite.  As we've seen on issues such immigrationabortion and foreign policy, Trump routinely makes clear that he isn't familiar with his own positions.  His stances aren't rooted in conviction, coherent ideological underpinnings or governing philosophy.  They "evolve" and morph depending on how Trump is feeling in any given moment.  Some professed conservatives may be perfectly comfortable voting for a tax-hiking, entitlement reform-opposing critic of Ronald Reagan's tax cuts.  But many Republicans, including a 62 percent majority of GOP primary voters thus far, aren't eager to turn the keys of the party over to someone whose record and current statements build a strong case against the proposition that he's reliable conservative -- or much of a conservative at all.  Parting thought: It's astonishing that this man appeals to people who loathe establishment "insider" types.  Earlier in the answer above, longtime Democratic donor chuckles with multimillionaire celebrity newsman Matt Lauer about all the fancy parties they've attended together with hotshot bankers in New York.  Man of the people.

You are the guys who are supposed to know better, that the President is a constitutional role. So the four fingers point right back at you.

For you to play gotcha games with his opinions about state law that he wouldn’t even have any interaction with (it’s not like sanctuary cities) is, well, even less then infantile if there was such a thing.

Hoodat: That's exactly what I've been saying

It isn't what you've been saying, hence I call you a liar.

Without deregulation I don't see how you make a dent in American productivity, however you fiddle the tax rates. Moreover, however you jigger the rates, and however much you lie about it, the revenue has to be reaised, and it will be raised from those who have money except for those who can buy their way out of the tax or pass it on to someone else.

Cutting the tax rate on the rich to 10% is easy, but we all have to figure that at the end of the day the tax burden will be born by the middle class because they are the only other party who can bear the tax burden.

But that is far too simple for Princeton / Harvard genius Cruz to accept.

So why pillory him for not wanting to add more to this self admitted plethora?

Molestation is already banned everywhere, as is propositioning and camera voyeurism etc.

What would you possibly add here, possibly? This is 99 44/100% pure virtue signaling.

Ya...you send your girls into the restroom with perverts.

But, you’re right. Existing laws prohibit perverts from endangering women.

ENFORCE THE LAW.

In three months copulaTED will be a distant memory.

The time for crowing is about four years after the election.

It sounds almost like shoulder chipping back at the tranny crowd, ensuring that this issue is going to continue to remain in the kindergarten.

Why was something new needed on the books here? Haven’t we already regulated decency out the wazoo, even with laws that haven’t been enforced for 100 years?

I thought a conservative value was to have few, meaningful laws rather than a plethora of regulations for the sake of virtue signaling.

Federal corporate taxes are taxes on profits after labor and material costs, depreciation, interest on debt, etc.

Many corporations pay no federal tax at all as a consequence.

Your deflection confirms that I am correct.

You love big government when it does what you want it to do. And you want other people to pay for it.
