Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who’s long tried to leverage his colleagues’ loathing into a version of outsider cred, is overwhelmingly viewed by his party as an establishment candidate. In a new HuffPost/YouGov survey, 62 percent of Republican and Republican-leaning voters say that Cruz is more of an establishment candidate, while just 29 percent describe him as an outsider. That’s a marked shift since December, when just 36 percent considered him part of the establishment….While that might help Cruz make his case on the floor of a contested convention, it’s unlikely to endear him to his party — 62 percent say they’d prefer a political outsider. We haven’t been conned. We know exactly what Trump is, warts and all. Trump is running on a very conservative platform so I will give him the opportunity to implement it. But in a larger sense, this country is so far gone that a conservative can’t win at the moment. That’s why Trump’s populism is so appealing. He can unite disparate elements of Republicans, Democrats and Indys and give this county a fighting chance. Build the wall and throw out the invaders. It’s funny how you and your Cruz cronies constantly call Trump a con man, when Cruz is the ultimate con man. But you see your guy how you do and I see mine as I do.
