Noonan's essay is behind a pay wall, so only the first paragraph's available to me. No one else posted it yet AFAIK.

Noonan seems pretty much #nevertrump in spirit, if not in fact. Perhaps Noonan's oped indicates that the establishment is now in the acceptance stage of their Trump grief.

In regards to Noonan's question, my own moment with liberal interventionism happened about a half a century ago. That's fifty years of patiently waiting for the Robert A Taft locomotive to leave the station with the Old Right Conservative Isolationist Trump train.

The Moment is that sliver of time in which you fully realize something epochal is happening in politics, that there has never been a presidential year like 2016, and suddenly you are aware of it in a new, true and personal way.

Hey Noonan, just thought that you'd like to know that these words of yours peg you as an out-of-touch east-coast elitist. Its really that simple.

Trump isn’t Conservative, he isn’t anything. He is non-ideological. Trump does not care a whit about politics and holds no real political convictions. The reasons are obvious, so I won’t go into it.

Trump cannot win a notional election, no matter what the polls say because He cannot win Red States by moving toward the Establishment. Cruz supporters will sit home, just like they would have if Rubio was nominated.

My magic moment concerning the 2016 campaign was the realization that apparently America has nothing better to offer for presidential candidates than the 17 Republican and 3 Democrat idiots who put their hats in the ring. We are so screwed.

Noonan is pure establishment and is anti-Trump. No need to go behind the fire wall.

Don't bother. I manages to read the whole hand-wringing thing, which, of course, took one little snide, negative moment from a Trump rally and, on that basis alone, dismissed the whole movement...

I love how so sure you are. I am just as sure, if not more so, that Cruz cannot win a national election by any stretch of the imagination. So we are about equal.. We both know squat.

She shared Matthews’ thrill up her leg over Obama. I’ve been over Noonan a long time. I don’t miss her purple prose.

But Mark Levin says he and his groupies will support Trump if he’s the nominee. You need to tune in.

I've been reading/hearing the same thing since June 16, 2015. I think we will hear it through his inauguration, and possibly through his first term. In the meantime we will have a President that is beholden to no one except the people and will seek to protect the nation from invasion, attacks abroad and trade deals that squeeze the life out of the middle class. Imagine what could happen if we have security, real fair trade, America first policies that strengthen the middle class and raise all boats. Perhaps families won't have to have both parents work if they don't want to, or have to work multiple jobs just to stay afloat. Imagine what that can do to some of the social problems we have today.

Poke around a little follow a few links, and you’ll find the whole whiney article. Then read the comments; WOW, does she ever get flamed! Indeed, flamed is exactly what she deserves to get since she went pure high school girl hormonal over Obola when anyone reasonably able to read and do a tiny bit of research on the Internet could quickly learn that he was a bitterly anti-American Islamocommunist who absolutely, to his core, hated America and Americans, and had willfully concealed every bit of his personal history that he could. Indeed, if Peggy had done her job as a journalist, instead of going hormonal, we might not have been cursed with eight years of Obola and might not be in our present mess, with The Donald being the only person with a reasonable hope of being able to lead us out of it.

Peggy, go stuff your pie hole with a rotten egg.

As a realist, I support Trump with eyes wide open. But I also realize that Humpty Dumpty USA may not be able to be put back together again.

Don’t put your treasure in earthly things, where moth and rust consume. It’s my only solace.

My ‘moment’ came in 2008 but especially in 2012. She was singing the 0bama praises back then.

A sob story from the GOPe’s leading sob sister. May be the most pathetic article written this year.

"Perhaps Noonan's oped indicates that the establishment is now in the acceptance stage of their Trump grief."

No. You can get the whole WSJ article usually if you enter via a Google link:

"my eyes filled with tears. And a sob welled up.. Because too much is being lost. Because the great choice in a nation of 320 million may come down to Crazy Man versus Criminal." - Peggy Noonan

2016 “hit” me in 2005, when George W. Bush and John McCain tried to shove Amnesty down my throat.

The center-right, culturally conservative Republican Party is dead.

I'm sure some new political group will begin to call itself “Republican,” but I have no idea what they will stand for.
