We already knew Feinstein was useless; Burr turning his coat to work with her is pathetic (and stupid, given that he's going to need every vote to hold onto his seat and has just thrown lots of them away).

Remind me again, who controls the Senate? Why do I even bother to vote.

make it easier for the government to keep Americans safe....

Its going to keep us safe? Well, that makes it OK then. While they're at it, why don't they pass a bill to allow the government to raid our houses without a warrant too. That will really keep us safe.

Sounds like a potential law that would be in violation of an Amendment!

Waterboarding would do a much better job of that.

They already do (snoop w/o a warrant). The proposed law would just allow the material to come into court without a warrant.

Do you think that these imbecilic watchers of emails, will be able to decode archaic languages, should they be employed?

It was brought up on, nowhere else than an old TV “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea” episode employing the musical scale as ‘a language’.

In all the computers, since we have no one capable, anymore, of the mental acuity equal to Benchley Park, I do not believe that ‘all’ the efforts of ‘anyone’ have been ‘successfully’ decoded. I refer to the Voynich Manuscript, as an example.

“Theban, anybody?”

I believe that currently if your email is 6 months old or more the feds do not have to have any warrant to read it.

I mean that is true today.

Yep - the worn-out excuse of ‘keeping us safe’.

According to the ladies on NPR, it is the white, working soccer moms who go to the ‘keeping us safe’ meme like bees to honey.

Yet they don’t see the chains being linked up one by one...

What's the best "secure" email?
Somebody asked me this just yesterday. Not that I'm the best to ask, I'm merely the smartest they know, lol...
So I looked into it. They all seem to have drawbacks. The govt has shut down some of them in the past few years. The oldest is hushmail, but that doesn't mean it's great. Startpage.com has an encrypted email I never knew about and it's my homepage. Proton is said to be great but after reading their feedback page I see a lot of shortcomings.
The list I worked from is here:

freedomhacker.net/list-of-secure-email-providers-that-take-privacy-serious/

Anyone here with actual experience of any secure email service for the pc?

If they ever read my email, I’ll be charged with murder - the folks who have to read my emails will die of utter boredom.

We cannot trust the government to respect our rights. Anyone who proposes this is a fascist and needs to be driven out of office.

My emails consist of a couple a month to a FRiend. They’d do better just monitoring my FR posts. As if they haven’t been for years. They used to be VERY obvious about it and I’d send them (((hugs))). Guess they’ve upgraded their spyware because they don’t freeze my screen these days. Still, howdy to the suit behind the screen!

............Yep, saw that. Still around. Niiiice.

Virtually all providers of “free” email like Google mine all of your content to aid in targeting advertising.

Why not let Uncle Sam peruse it to? /s
