Gingrich: Trump's attacks on judge 'unacceptable'
The Hill ^ | June 4, 2016 | Evelyn Rupert

Posted on 06/04/2016 7:30:13 PM PDT by maggief

Donald Trump supporter and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich isn't on board with Trump's attacks on a federal judge.

“I don’t know what Trump’s reasoning was, and I don’t care,” Gingrich said in an email to the Washington Post. “His description of the judge in terms of his parentage is completely unacceptable.”

Trump has continually bashed U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is overseeing lawsuits over Trump's real estate education program Trump University. Trump claims that because Curiel is of Mexican descent, he is inherently biased against him and should recuse himself. Curiel was born in Indiana to immigrant parents.

The Liberals on Fakebook are having a field day because Trump said the Judge was a Mexican. I had to point out to one of the Morons that he is a Member of La Raza, the Mexican KKK.

If Trump had said the judge was a La Raza member, rather than just describing him as a Mexican, this wouldn't be a story. Trump is correct regarding the judge, but he needs to choose his words more carefully. Every liberal news program was able to hammer him, and that's how you lose an election.

aside from all the other commentary,
Trump appears, at least, to have made the mistake of assuming Latin people are against him

this is actually ... mostly just D party propaganda... trying to make it so.... by constant repetition to us sheeple
(brainwashing techniques of Herr Gobbels)

but when you chat with Latin people, they are spread across the political spectrum and many of the not-usually-politically-involved Latin folk are very intrigued by Mr. Trump’s candidacy .. .and the positive things he represents, particularly about restoring America’s economy and enabling business.industry to start re-creating some JOBS!

Many Latin people also abhor Hillary’s moral and ethical “problems”

to say that Latinos or Latinas are against Trump is a distortion at best, and Trump should (imho) avoid assuming the veracity of his political enemies’ propaganda BS

If Trump is going to win the general he needs to clean up his act. He needs to hire on Newt to be his #1 adviser on how to speak and act now that the primaries are over.

I think Trump is doing just fine.He didn’t get to where he is by being timid and worrying what people think.Newt is wrong on this issue bigtime. The biggest problem in this country is lawyers which happen to be politicians and the judge is extremely political.

I rescind my endorsement for Newt to be VP. Alberto is right.

Trump thinks because Trump wants to build the wall, get rid of sanctuary cities and not recognize Anchor babies, this judge is given his associations biased.

I think the case should have been dismissed after the original plaintiff dropped off the case when written fine review of the Trump U. and a complementary video surfaced.

She no longer wants to testify.

Does the Judge have a problem being a member of La Raza ?

The Judge should summon Trump and discuss it in court.

This isn’t going to end up well for this Judge.

This is why Gingrich would make an excellent choice for VP. He’s not afraid to call Trump out when he screws up...

“I don’t know what Trump’s reasoning was, and I don’t care,” Gingrich said...

That's never a defensible position, Newt. It's purely manipulative histrionics, and inherently weak.

What we commonly call La Raza is formally the National Council of La Raza. Curiel is a member of a “La Raza” attorneys’ association

It is still called "the race", doesnt matter if directly connected, its racist. Trump should hammer this point.

Dear Newt. Judge Curiel is associated with La Raza. THAT makes the difference. His sympathies are not with his country of birth if he’s with La Raza. He needs recuse himself, and let another judge handle the case.>>>> this judge needs to resign or be impeached maybe with Trump as POTUS he will be. Then he needs figure out where he should live.

That's the problem, he didn't call it what it is. He brought up Mexican but not La Raza.

Also be sure to point out to them that Mexican is NOT a race.

Yeah, that is one of several reasons for Trump to go after this judge. Saying he’s Mexican wasn’t the way to go because there are judges of Mexican inheritance who would be fair, but calling out his connection to La Raza would have been better and avoided the media storm.
