Gingrich: Trump remarks about judge 'mistake,' 'inexcusable'
Fox News ^ | June 05, 2016

Donald Trump supporter Newt Gingrich on Sunday sharply criticized the presumptive GOP presidential nominee for his racially-sensitive remarks about the judge presiding over the Trump University civil fraud case.

“It was one of the worst mistakes Trump has made. Inexcusable,” the former GOP House speaker, who has become one of Trump’s closest advisers, told “Fox News Sunday.”

Trump has argued that American-born District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, whose parents are from Mexico, is biased against him, considering Trump’s vow to build a wall along the southern U.S. border to keep out Mexicans.

“He’s Mexican,” Trump told CNN on Friday. “We’re building a wall between here and Mexico.”

Gingrich, whose is considered a potential Trump running-mate, also called the comment a “mistake” but stopped short of calling it racist.

“That judge is not a Mexican. He’s an American,” he said. “I hope it was sloppiness.”

Gingrich started out as a Democrat until Roy Richards paid him to switch to being a Republican. It looks like he’s going to end as one too.

Gingrich should shut up.
Past his best by date.

So answering questions, supporting Trump, but disagreeing on some statements is so terrible? Seems to me Trumo is not afraid of constructive criticism and doesn’t surround himself with sycophants like Hillary does.
I hadn’t seen Trump’s ad for a personal nanny. Where did you apply?

That's a pretty valid, good point.

Problem is we have Hillary facing an FBI primary and Bill and Chelsea stealing hundreds of millions through a foundation and here we are talking about a third rate judge and a near meaningless court case. The left has stolen the agenda again.

I would really like to go to the next level where we can get traction on them instead of vice versa.

I know we are really right and Trump has outfoxed them again but it's a minor issue and they are lying about it as they usually do.

The left is full of criminals. They are so easy to go after it's not even funny. We should do it.

I don’t always get Gingrich. Trump must have hurt his feelings or something because. The judge is a member of Laraza and that alone should be a disqualifier. Just because one criticizes a person who happens to be hispanic doesn’t mean it reflects on all hispanics. Its this kind of spineless behavior among the GOP-E that has always disgusted me the most. They always feel this morally superior need to feed a liberal media narrative as if they are defending the image of the GOP that they are usually responsible for sullying. I like Newt but he’s wrong on this. McConnell really was the worst on this. The guy clearly thinks poorly of the ability of hispanics to not behave as tribal morons. He also was out there talking about how criticizing liberal judges is some horrible thing. The worst form of bigotry is the the refusal to treat minorities as thinking independent individuals.

Boy the morning news shows were all over Gingrich’s comments. There an old saying “If you can’t say anything nice maybe you shouldn’t say anything at all”. Newt should have known that. Too late now. Bye Newt.

Bingo.....you get to pass Go & collect $200.00. I have been a “Trump” fan long before he annouced his run for POTUS. He never opens his mouth without purpose or thought out strategy. In this case the Judge assigned to his trail case was put there to do the bidding of Obama/Clinton/The Democrat/Obamabot Media. Yes, Trump well knows the true colors of the radical “La Raza” pro illegal alien Judge, sitting over his “university trial”!!

So......as the great negotiator he is, he put a dual plan into action along with his Republican supporter cohorts. He knew...that the media would jump on his rants immediately, and then when their efforts drew little attention he dropped the “La Raza” bombshell. Megyn Kelly with glee, jumped all over Trump, saying he was not an activist with La Raza. but belonged to a legal Hispanic group that pushes and fully supports illegal immigration with a similar name.

Mr. Trump & company, let Megyn Kelly plant her false seed of truth....and then brought forward the fact that that good Obamabot judge and his leagal group works in full lock-step with the “real” La Raza!!! Then to further that the truth would set in home....Trump triggered the negative responses from his supporters, Ryan, McConnell, Gingrich, etc.....and, the Obama media has now gone wild. Soon....Trump & company will realy do an open number on this biased, hareful Obama controlled judge, and, once again, DJT wipes out the Obama/Clinton media & any creditablilty that this bigoted judge might have had!!!

Folks across the country...turn out and vote in record numbers to vote and support Donald J. Trump, tomorrow in the GOP Primairies being held in California, New Mexico North Dakota, New Jersey & Montana!!! Go Donald J. Trump!!!

What rulings of the judge have been shown to be biased ? I am not a lawyer but simply don’t see anything particularly out of the norm. And most likely the judge did not know of any payment to the Clintons even if he cause and effect could be proven which would be difficult since any contribution would have occurred before Trump had declared as a candidate.

The judge is a member of La Raza Lawyers of California. They are pro-illegal immigration.

This would imply a bias against Trump.

This is why Newt will not be VP. He is not the kind of guy who is going to check with the POTUS before giving his candid opinion.

And in this case he is right. The judge is not a Mexican, and it was a mistake for Trump to use that phrase.

If he had mentioned the judge's political affiliations instead it would have opened up the whole issue of "La Raza" to people who've probably never heard of it.

But they would have asked for a recusal if it were, and to file a motion for recusal, there is a good possibility they could be sanctioned. Certainly lawyers have been disciplined in court for implying a judge’s ethnicity was biasing their decisions. In this case there is not even evidence of bias against the defendant.

Trump is trying the judge in the court of public opinion.

Trump's lawyers will handle any legal actions against the judge...not Trump.

I agree he is testing the political waters to see how far these attacks will play. Trump may be on stronger legal footing after the election assuming he wins and immigration are being taken that are being actively opposed by La Raza.

When a judge is a member of a pro-Mexican group called “The Race” then that judge can be celled a Mexican, a traitor.

Its hard, so hard, for those steeped in the politically correct mindset and speech patterns to see that the common voter is sick and tired of his kind telling us how we should think, act and vote. I like the fact Trump is pointing out the hypocrisy of the left elevating non-Americans to position of power as a means to voerthrow America... Newt sure as hell won’t say anything of the sort...

There’s the Good Newt and the Bad Newt. Nobody, definitely including Newt, has the faintest idea which will get out of bed in the morning, or whether the one that got out of bed will remain the same for the rest of the day. That’s why he’s unqualified for most positions of real responsibility. We just got another taste of the Bad Newt.

You may want to do some research on Gingrich's accomplishments when he was Speaker of the House, and listen to his comments during the debates when he was running for President as well as interviews over the last decade.

Have a great day.
