NEW YORK — With Election Day less than two months away, Democrats are increasingly worried that Hillary Clinton has not built a formidable lead against Donald Trump despite his historic weaknesses as a national party candidate.
Even the Democratic nominee’s advisers acknowledge that she must make changes, and quickly. Clinton leads Trump by a mere three percentage points, having fallen from her high of nine points in August, according to the latest Real Clear Politics average. That tightening has frustrated many Clinton allies and operatives, who are astonished that she isn’t running away with this race given Trump’s deep unpopularity and never-ending stream of controversial comments.
“Generally, I’m concerned, frankly,” said former Democratic Senate leader Thomas A. Daschle (S.D.). “It still looks positive, and I think if you look at the swing states and where she is right now, she’s got a lead. But it’s certainly not in the bag. We have two months to go, and I think it’s going to be a competitive race all the way through. I would say she’s got at least a 60 percent chance of winning.”
At the same time, Daschle said, “all the things that Trump has done, the numbers should be far more explicitly in her favor, but they’re not.”
Among Democrats’ concerns is the fact that Clinton spent a great deal of time over the summer raising millions of dollars in private fundraisers — while Trump was devoting much of his schedule to rallies, speeches and TV appearances.

Good Lord, this woman has been a known quantity for a quarter century and her aides are still talking about trying to get her to connect with voters? You can’t give the woman a personality transplant and expect it to charm voters in the last two months. Even the people voting for her are only doing so because she has a D by her name, and she’ll keep the entitlement train rolling.

Anyone, other than a first time voter has pretty much decided they are going to supporter if they intend to... She’s a known entity and an abysmal politician with no inate skill or ability for retail politicking. She is cold, impersonal and comes off as disingenuous. Then add to that she’s a pathological liar and a crook. She stands no chance.
Trump has significantly more support than the polls are capturing, he has at least 2-3% of reverse Bradley effect going on... Which as it becomes obvious he is winning will start to admit they intend to vote for him... And he has at least another 2% of disenfranchised voters who are going to show up to vote that most pollsters will filter out as not likely voters because they haven’t voted in the last few elections.
Now when you realize that most undecided voters have no intention of voting for Hillary but are just holding back their decision on whether to go Trump or third party or stay home... And all they really need to be assured of is that Trump is not th crazy racist psychopath that Hilarry and the MSM spin him as, and they will mostly break for Trump.
There is nothing Hillary can say or do that is going to convince them to vote for her. She can wonk every debate answer. Cross every T dot every I... The press can throw her softballs and pound Trump with hardballs and IT WON’T MATTER... These folks aren’t going to vote for her no matter what... As long as Trump comes out of the debates not looking like a crazy loon and looks like a reasonable person... Doesn’t matter how many point Hillary may score under traditional debating judging... She loses and Trump wins and wins big.
The fact that the press and pundits can’t (or refuse) to see this shows you just how much they live in their own bubble of a world. MSNBC can claim “if you reweight the poll numbers to 2012 Hillary is up” all they want... It self delusion.. Turnout and electoral breakdown won’t be anything close to what it was in 2012. Hillary has ZERO enthusiasm... Zip, zilch, nada... The economy is in the tank as much as the Fed and Obama want to tell us otherwise.. The world is less safe... Etc etc etc... There is no argument for 4 more years of these policies and people know it... They aren’t buying the crap.
When you haven’t had a raise in a decade you aren’t buying the economy is on a roll... When you spend 2-3 times as much out of your own pocket on your health care as you did 5 years ago.. You know the economy ain’t booming.. Etc etc.
The only thing the Dems have is this insane belief that Donald Trump is so crazy he can’t win... They don’t have any argument for Hillary.. Just she’s not Trump... And “hey, at least I ain’t the other guy” ain’t going to win you a national election.
