VANITY: Is there any video of pollsters ACTUALLY polling people?
FR Vanity ^ | 10-22-16 | me

With all of the polling data coming out, there must quite a lot of people and companies involved in polling. But it still seems like a very opaque industry to have so much influience on the daily conversation. I have not been able to find on youtube a good video of a Presidential poll being taken from start to finish. Can we see one? How many calls does it take? How are they getting their phone numbers? How do they know when to stop calling? Who are the people doing the actual calling and can we sure they have no political biases?

There are political ideologues with polling organizations out there that are highly proficient at torturing data long and hard enough so that it reveals what they want it to reveal.

How many people actually respond to these calls? In this day and age, how many even answer the phone? I don’t answer calls from numbers I don’t recognize (I assume the caller will leave a message if it’s important).

I don’t buy the results of most of these polls at all.

And you’re not going to. These companies are a for profit business, hired to make those calls. They’re not going to let their competitors know their methodology or their employees (in many cases) know the client. Besided, the parameters of the poll and the number crunching is usually done by the client, like a fox or cnn.

Even pointless vanity posts should have a verb in every sentence. Maybe you can find a youtube video on that subject.

A friend got an automated polster call a week or so ago. When the question came up as to which candidate she supported, she hit the Trump button, and the line went dead. Evidently they only wanted the “right” answer.

I was polled by phone once....I asked the pollster how long it would take....she said two to three minutes. It was a media poll. I agreed
First question: Do you believe the investigation of President Clinton is hurting the nation?
My answer: No
She hung up....
in total the poll lasted about 10 seconds

I got a call alledgely from Gallup. The first question was “what is your age?”

I replied 74 and was told then we will not continue. This poll os restricted to those 18- 65.

Never the less, I fear the current polls are close enough to prevent fraudulent theft of the election

“How many people actually respond to these calls?”

At times the response rate is as low as 3% at best.

This low response rate has the potential to really skew the randomness of the poll as the pollsters are reduced to taking everyone they can get rather than properly weighting. Getting a true sample is now extremely time consuming and rather expensive.

Also with such a low response rate there is a good chance that at least some of the respondents are being surveyed by more than one poll. That would mean it is no surprise they get they same results.

I don’t believe polls for the same reason I don’t believe climate change “research.” Polls are conducted by liberals. Liberal ideology = “The ends justifies the means.”

How do we even know the pollster is making the calls? Even if he’s calling with witnesses in the room, are the calls monitored? Who’s analyzing the data? I can get software to give me any results I want if I’m controlling the data entry.

Even if none of the above is suspect, how long do you think a polling company would last if it didn’t bend the results to meet the expectations of its invoice-paying customers, the lame stream media?

Who would hire them?

What you said makes good sense. I’d never want to be someone who makes her living over the phone. Pollsters, telemarketers, etc. have a rough time getting “live ones.”

3%? Sheesh.

Are you under the misconception that polling takes place face to face? They are usually conducted by phone.

At times the response rate is as low as 3% at best.

A personal observation is that Leftists in media and academics have enforced the "spiral of silence" to the point where the most banal opposition to the rigid ever tightening Leftist dogma is shouted down and ridiculed (e.g. see latest hysteria over honoring the fictional character Wonder Woman).

So it is no surprise that anyone to the right of Pol Pot will more than likely hang up on any pollster. The person fears saying the "wrong answer".
