Republican nominee Donald Trump is polling just one percentage point behind Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in Michigan, according to a new poll from Strategic National.

The Michigan statewide poll revealed essentially a dead heat in a state that has not voted for a Republican presidential candidate since 1988. Clinton received 45 percent support, while Trump received 44 percent. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson received 5 percent support, while Green party nominee Jill Stein received 2 percent. Two percent of the respondents said that they were supporting someone else, and another two percent were still undecided....

“They may be over-weighting Republicans in that sample.”

I agree. Unfortunately, there are a lot of “yellow dog Dims” in Michigan. Remains to be seen whether they toe the union/Clinton line.

Many in Michigan remember the automotive boom days (the many plants of Big Three and the great many related supply chain and worker-serving businesses) and the yuuuge shrinkage after foreign cars became popular.

UAW work quality and corporate cost-reducing ploys generally resulted in quality-challenged cars, and the left coasters’ love for foreign cars, along with a general drop in loyalty to American companies, really hurt automotive.

I have to believe there are a great many in Michigan that would love to see some boom days again, to do the cabin up north with some boats and ATV toys again. To have I-75 city dwellers well employed again (Detroit, Pontiac, Flint, Saginaw).

Only Trump can lead there.

Yes, I knew the registration split was likely in that neighborhood, but this NOT a 'normal' election.

Imho, a LOT of dhimmis really like the sound of their overpaid auto jobs coming back home, and there's only one candidate focusing on that.

So, six days and a wakeup and we'll find out, ehh ? !

I read somewhere that 40% of the votes have already been cast.

I posted a link to this poll on another FR thread a couple hours ago.
Must count on Michigan because new Marquette “Gold Standard” poll just released shows her leading in Wisconsin.
Trump will be in crucial New Hampshire early Friday and again on Monday.

Obama won MI by 10 points in 2012.

If it's that close, Crooked Hillary is in real trouble.

Reported here that Trump says,

“Bill Mitchell ;@mitchellvii 4h4 hours ago

“All the geniuses that work for me they say, ‘Oh, you’re even in Michigan,’” Trump said during his rally. “So I say, ‘Let’s go and win it.’” “

- - - - -

His “geniuses” say so. It’s why Hellary is in Michigan today.

No, they are not.

That was 2012

I think that’s probably legit. But check out the level of whites.

Team Trump thinks MI is tied.

It’s worth being focused on mechanism.

It’s popular to look at D/R/I mix and declare a poll stupid or not.

The real question is how was that mix obtained. If random calls were made and the mix in question was the result, that’s bad (if the calls were truly random). If a screen is applied after the calls, to obtain the target mix, then that’s a different thing and a great deal less useful.

2012 breakdown:

Obama won MI 54-45 (roughly 450K votes).

D/R/I breakdown was 40/30/30.

Racial breakdown: White 77%, Black 16%, Hispanic 3%, Other 4%.

M/F: 49/51

Obama won M: 50/48
Obama won F: 57/42

Since this poll is right-leaning, it is possible they may have over sampled GOP voters.

I’m in Michigan. I will be very surprised if Trump doesn’t win here. Never seen so many signs. No way Detroit and Flint will turn out for the HAG like they did for Obama.

Trump has the union and blue color vote in the bag and the polling for both primaries was way way off.

Monmouth. Typically low R, low whites, heavy blacks.

We’re good. Second poll in PA has Trump -2.
