Donald J. Trumps shocking triumph in the American presidential election will have some unusual foreign-policy repercussions. During the campaign, Democrats frequently tried to damage Mr. Trumps standing by claiming that President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia was working for and supporting the Republican nominee. Now many may believe that Americas huge political upset could even be described as a victory for the Kremlin.
In fact, the idea peddled by American news media that Mr. Putin supports Mr. Trump is far removed from reality. Proponents of this idea have blithely ignored the assessments in mainstream Russian news media and by Russian analysts, which have never been particularly enthusiastic about Mr. Trump.
There is a lot of concern in Russia about what will happen to American foreign policy once Mr. Trump is inaugurated.

“...highlighted a renewed American proclivity toward isolationism.”
Oh BS, NYT. Get Japan to tell you about isolationism (200+ years of it).
Check the record. On multiple occasions Put disagreed with Hillary on Islamic terrorists where Putin went hard line and Clinton waffled all over the place. I never heard Trump waffle.
I agree! Putin does not like nor dislike Donald Trump. Putin was scared that Hillary Clinton would start WWIII. That is the reason Putin did want Trump to win. Putin knows everything about Hillary Clinton. He has all her emails, and the emails of all her associates. He did not want Russia, Europe, nor the United States to end in a nuclear holocaust.
He is not stupid and I sure as hell prefer President Trump negotiating with Putin as opposed to Hillary. Russia and the USA have many areas of common intrest and also areas of opposition. Let the man that wrote "Art of The Deal" negotiate with Putin. Hillary and Obama set the Middle East on fire! This was not good for Putin nor the USA.
But Hillary and the Liberals all said; Trump was all Russia’s fault.
I don’t think Trump lied about wanting better relations with Russia, but I think Putin will be very disappointed with what that means for Trump.
Sure. Putin with Trump before election hurts Trump. Post election this flip hurts Trump in their warped view.
Speaking of trolling, yours has become excessive.
If you want a war with Russia so bad, go over to some globalist site where they’d appreciate your point of view.
Clinton is unreliable. Period.
No indication Clinton is unreliable? Are you serious?
Trump on Friday told the WSJournal it means working with Russia in Syria against ISIS, and no longer fighting against Russia in Syria
This NY Times columnist suggests Trump will appoint John McCain-type Republicans who will do the opposite. In other words, he thinks Trump is stupid. I don’t agree and you shouldn’t either
Putin wanted Hillary because he knew he could buy her off or intimidate her. Duh. If Putin recognized Trump as a no-nonsense businessman, so much the better.
The article is 100% false, not 99% false.
Russians are absolutely DELIGHTED that Trump won, drinking champagne and celebrating.
Starting when?
Boss, anytime we have to endure a post from NYT or WP can we color code the entire post with a communist star?
People (not the Russian trolls) will come to their senses and realize that Russia is filled with Russians who act Russian.
As always the NYS is saying what they think should be the truth. For such people there is no objective reality so they cannot lie. Something is necessarily true because they say it and for no other reason.
