Hans Brix will write them a letter.
Was wondering about that.
Must make those in Japan feel comforted!
THAAD in its deployed version is highly accurate (15/15 or the like) and has been tested at various test sites.
Never used in actual launch against an enemy, would be a good use of a NK launch, as testing means we have to launch a target missile and the counter force missile, costs double.

A very big deal if true.
1) Scuds were very primative
2) Patriot’s batting averager was not that great. 70% Saudi Arabia...40% in Israel

Most important part is right in the first paragraph and you are right, this is extremely noteworthy:
“President Donald Trump has given military orders for U.S. forces to shoot down and destroy any missile launched from North Korea and moving toward the continental United States, Hawaii, and Guam.”
Problem is range.
At 40 miles UP, you need a special interceptor.
Also a factor is how many MACHs the missile to be intercepted is traveling. We recently have been testing missile interception over the Pacific. Several tests, though not all successful.
Some of this is based on stuff I read. I could be wrong...
South Korea is hosting 2018 Winter Olympics in a few months not far from DMZ.
The Missile Defense Agency has run quite a few intercept tests - most of them successful. They have used the big GBIs in Alaska and California, the THAAD interceptors (as recently as this July), SM-3, and SM-6 (just a few days ago).
Patriots are terminal defense. It’s a harder problem to take them out in launch phase.
The Patriots took out some Scuds. Others got through, and killed some Israelis. I was there and saw them hit.
no one would even know if it missed. Just deny. Plus, you can shoot more than one to ensure you take it out
Are you an actual Japanese or an American serviceman/civilian living in Japan?
Pull!
I believe we have systems which can take them out on the pad. Would be tres kewl to hit one just as the fuel started to burn. Might level the whole place.
It would be kind of nice to know if our ABM system works.
“Why cant we just hire the Israelis to take out their sites?”
Or maybe bribe some North Korean artillery units to fire a barrage across the DMZ.
Japan has anti missile batteries...all they need is the will to use them instead of letting NK missiles fly over their land.
The Patriot’s success rate was overstated by the military because it performed only marginally. It’s success rate was around 50% at best in taking down the Scuds heading for Israel. It was later found to have a software issue that affected the timing clock. It was supposed to be corrected but I don’t think it has ever been a fantastic system. It’s not nearly as good as the Iron Dome.
We really need to get on the ball with developing a system that is really good at taking them out. We will get caught with our pants down like 9/11.
