The original Star Trek series debuted on TV 51 years ago - September 8, 1966.
Since then it has spawned several movies and sequel / prequel series'.
Tonight, the latest series, Star Trek Discovery will premier at 8/7c on CBS, free.
As to the remaining episodes, you will have to pay for them on CBS All Access.
Will you want to continue watching and pay for it? Watch tonight's episode and decide for yourself.
For you folks in the Eastern and Central time zones, it begins in only a few minutes.
Yes, I’m glad they made a real effort to improve that one. The old exterior shots of the damaged Constellation were among the worst FX in the original series. Overall, the remastered episodes are a big success. They fixed the obvious problems but left everything else alone.
I saw the third episode tonight.my first thought, once it enfed, was...
What. The. Hell.
This is NOT the Starfleet I remember. This Captain Lorca has some devious about him. Nonetheless, I’m intrigued and will continue watching unless it gets too PC.
According to the YouTube channel “Midnight’s Edge”, Netflix is PISSED. They paid a hansom sum to CBS for the international distribution rights. So much so that the first season is fully funded. To CBS, it was a win-win cash cow as the show is paid for and they get to stream for extra cash.
Paramount (via Bad Robot productions) is producing the show and according to licensing agreements had to have a style and motif which was unique and different from CBS material.
This is why they couldn’t have the “Pike era” uniforms or sets. In reality this really isn’t cannon but it’s own “anthology”
CBS owns the rights to Star Trek while Paramount owns the rights to the movies.
Meanwhile, “Axanar”, “Star Trek Continues” and a plethora of fan series get the boot....bad call by CBS. CBS has systematically turned off the fans giving us SJW crap.
Yuck...two f bombs and a barf alert almost gay scene. Was all that necessary?
Yeah...I was going to mention the same thing. We now who is the previously mentioned gay couple is.
They used the S-word in the first ‘Next Gen” movie, but they never used another swear word again. I know that they haven’t had much swearing in the ‘JJ verse” movies. Why do they think dropping f-bombs in an internet TV show makes them any cooler?
However...Rainn Wilson as Harcourt Fenton “Harry” Mudd. I like.
Like I said last week...this ain’t your daddy’s Star Trek.
One nice thing about paying for a network/show almost a la carte is that I can cancel said network/show instantly. They ruined the story.
