An Ohio lawmaker who routinely touted his Christian faith and anti-LGBT views has resigned after being caught having sex with a man in his office.

Wes Goodman, who is the Republican state legislator for Ohio, is married to a woman who is assistant director of an annual anti-abortion rally known as March for Life.

The right-wing legislator, who pushed “family values”, was reportedly witnessed having sex with a man inside his office who was not employed by the legislator.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the observer told Ohio House Chief of Staff Mike Dittoe what had happened on Tuesday afternoon. Mr Dittoe responded by telling House Speaker Republican Cliff Rosenberger who in turn met with Mr Goodman.

Toxoplasma gondii is one of the most interesting diseases discovered by man:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toxoplasma_gondii

Toxoplasma gondii (IPA: /ˈtɒksoʊˌplæzmə ˈɡɒndi.aɪ/) is an obligate intracellular, parasitic alveolate that causes the disease toxoplasmosis.[3] Found worldwide, T. gondii is capable of infecting virtually all warm-blooded animals,[4] but felids such as domestic cats are the only known definitive hosts in which the parasite can undergo sexual reproduction.[5]

In humans, T. gondii is one of the most common parasites in developed countries;[6][7] serological studies estimate that 30–50% of the global population has been exposed to and may be chronically infected with T. gondii, although infection rates differ significantly from country to country.[8][9] For example, previous estimates have shown the highest prevalence of persons infected to be in France, at 84%.[10] Although mild, flu-like symptoms occasionally occur during the first few weeks following exposure, infection with T. gondii produces no readily observable symptoms in healthy human adults.[8][11][12] This asymptomatic state of infection is referred to as a latent infection and has recently been associated with numerous subtle adverse or pathological behavioral alterations in humans.[8][13] In infants, HIV/AIDS patients, and others with weakened immunity, infection can cause a serious and occasionally fatal illness, toxoplasmosis.[11][12]

T. gondii has been shown to alter the behavior of infected rodents in ways that increase the rodents' chances of being preyed upon by felids.[10][14][15] Support for this "manipulation hypothesis" stems from studies showing T. gondii-infected rats have a decreased aversion to cat urine.[10] Because cats are the only hosts within which T. gondii can sexually reproduce to complete and begin its lifecycle, such behavioral manipulations are thought to be evolutionary adaptations that increase the parasite's reproductive success.[10] The rats would not shy away from areas where cats live and would also be less able to escape should a cat try to prey on them. The primary mechanisms of T. gondii–induced behavioral changes in rodents is now known to occur through epigenetic remodeling in neurons which govern the associated behaviors;[16][17] for example, it modifies epigenetic methylation to cause hypomethylation of arginine vasopressin-related genes in the medial amygdala to greatly decrease predator aversion.[16][17] Widespread histone-lysine acetylation in cortical astrocytes appears to be another epigenetic mechanism employed by T. gondii.[18][19] Differences in aversion to cat urine are observed between non-infected and infected humans and sex differences within these groups were apparent, too.[20]

A number of studies have suggested that subtle behavioral or personality changes may occur in infected humans,[21] and infection with the parasite has recently been associated with a number of neurological disorders, particularly schizophrenia[15] and bipolar disorder.[22] A 2015 study also found cognitive deficits in adults to be associated with joint infection by both T. gondii and Helicobacter pylori in a regression model with controls for race-ethnicity and educational attainment.[23] Although a causal relationship between latent toxoplasmosis with these neurological phenomena has not yet been established,[8][15] preliminary evidence suggests that T. gondii infection can induce some of the same alterations in the human brain as those observed in mice.[24][25]

-----------------------------------------------------------

If a parasite like Toxoplasma Gondii can cause behavioral changes in humans, cats, and rodents why couldn't there be a similar infection for homesexuality?

This hypocrite had an outlet for his sexual drive in his wife, therefore the behavior was doubly repugnant.

I’m more convinced than ever that the political environment is utterly poisonous to almost all who wade into it.

Yep. We’re seeing a massive swamp drain. The whirlpool is rapidly starting to swirl. It’s going to be ugly but in the end, very beneficial.

It sounds like this Wes Goodman is among a certain class of homosexuals. They are deeply closeted and married. You would never think in a million years they were gay. They tend to be extremely promiscuous - they are the ones that have anonymous sex in parks and rest areas along the interstate. They are extremely ashamed of their homosexual desires, going to great lengths to hide it by being married, and making known they are pro-family, and anti-gay. But yet, they are compelled to follow a promiscuous, homosexual lifestyle, amazingly, often in public places where there is a risk of being caught, which seems to add greater excitement to the sexual act. It does seem to be some kind of a sexual addiction.

There are fewer Republican perverts because they chase males who generally don’t complain.

That’s more sexual revolution than sexual orientation, in my view. Plenty of heteros will do it anywhere, too.

We can fantasize all manner of conceivable conjectures.

However, in the case of homosexuality, I don't know of a single shred of evidence suggesting a microbial or viral agent even correlated with the orientation. And, of course, even correlation would not necessarily be evidence of causation.

Certainly homosexuality is a very complex bunch of stuff. I've just never heard of any evidence of such an etiology as you hypothesize.

imho, the old dopamine reward cycles & related behavior-mod connections are more than sufficient to explain the orientation.

You’d think that if there was a parasite or infectious agent that caused it, it would be found in all homosexuals and would have been discovered by now, especially during the search for the cause of HIV.

There is a lot of things wrong with that theory.

His ONLY real political problem is not his views but merely that he’s not a Democrat. If he were a Democrat they’d all shrug their shoulders and say “no big deal, let’s move on”.

Why would I think that? Science that goes against the progressive line doesn’t get funded. Being able to treat and cure homosexuality would be a disaster for the left.

There won’t be any real scientific work done on homosexuality until after the current progressive stranglehold on science is removed. Until everything is speculation.

>imho, the old dopamine reward cycles & related behavior-mod connections are more than sufficient to explain the orientation.

That doesn’t explain it in animals.

I think it can explain it in animals, as well.

Dopamine rewarded behavior persists.

All kinds of things can trigger the first experience.

How utterly stupid.
and
There is something about homosexuality that is akin to disease. They don’t seem capable of resisting doing their sexual act, or where.

Both posts are Spot On.

In early 1980s, Rick Schmidt (an upper-tier exec in the family-owned Olympia Beer company), a state legislator and a state agency director, were arrested for homosexual conduct in a public bathroom up in Oregon.

Here are people in high positions, soliciting sex in a public area. How stupid is that? Their brains fall below their belt, and careers and reputations destroyed as a result - and still they risk it. Not normal on so many levels.

I think one could enunciate and defend a sane secular policy that it was just plain wrong from any point of view to make all society into what had been in the closet.

That really DOES hustle towards Sodom, which I humbly suggest from the bible narrative suggests a government involvement that has turned ugly. If “men of the city” aren’t merely literally all the citizens of the city, but rather the politicians, the leaders, the bigwigs — what that would have mean is that the power of this lust had managed to seize government. God had tolerated this nonsense all the way up to the point it did that. And even was going to keep on tolerating it if there were but “ten righteous men” left. But things were now hopeless. It had now seized the power of society and there wasn’t even enough to mount a protest. NOW came the fire and the brimstone.

And if it hadn’t come there, it would have come in eternity as the thing finally fizzled out into death on earth.

The wild things that went on in bathhouses, shouldn’t be propositioning people on the street, even if one thinks that private sin is in some sense okay. And America may yet go a certain distance till it reaps that whirlwind. But reap it, America eventually will, unless miracle turns it back.
