President Trump has lambasted the NFL more than 20 times for players Total Disrespect of Our Great Country. Ratings are down for NFL games and Trump figures its because some players arent standing, hand over heart, and mouthing the words to the national anthem.
Trump may have made some political hay out of all this, but one only has to follow the money to learn the real reason pro football ratings are down competition from college football. The fact is, Their product isnt very good these days, Nick Bogdanovich told the Las Vegas Sun. He is the chief oddsmaker for William Hill, which operates 107 sportsbooks in Nevada.
The league that used to claim any team could win on any given Sunday has turned into a predictable If you have a quarterback, you have a chance. If you dont, you dont, as Ben Volin wrote of the Boston Globe at the finish of last years regular season. As evidence, he pointed to the four quarterbacks remaining in the playoffs Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers, and Matt Ryan.
Jimmy Vaccaro has been running sports books for four decades. He says, it used to be, Nearly $4 on the NFL for every buck on a college game. That is no longer the case. Now it is more like 6040 with the college betting handle gaining.

They are giving tickets away and charging $4.00 for some games. People aren’t watching even when it’s free. People are boycotting due to the thuggery and disrespect.
The die hard, NFL til I die, fans can’t accept the fact many value more important things than watching anti-American, racist thugs play a game.
That’s a fair point, let me revise my statement:
There are a handful of teams that have a real chance of winning the SB and 25 also-rans. Unless two of those handful of teams are playing each other, there’s nothing really compelling about the game.
In essence that disrespects me, my brothers in arms and all those great Americans that served before me.
I can't believe a guy they pay millions of dollars to be their commissioner has zero clue who his paying fan base is.
Doubtful. I watched football back when real men played the game. Not a bunch of roided, mentally challenged thugs, but real athletes.
Those old time players would have beaten the snot out of this group. Especially under the old rules, they might be beat on speed, but they could do things that escapes the mental midget superstars of today, like tackle or run a complete route even when the ball isn’t coming their way.
Yeah, that was one of the best nights of my life.
Watched that game in a rented party room in New Orleans full of drunk, fat and happy people. My grandfather’s ghost was there too. He had been a fan since the Saint’s came to be, and he died before they even had a winning season. So it was a good night for him too.
Bought a NFL 2009 Saints wallet, and that wallet in my pocket until this year, when I replaced it and discarded it in disgust. I will have no NFL product. They will have my undying disrespect.
1. The loss of exciting, popular players due to season-ending injuries. Deshaun Watson, Carson Wentz, and several others excited fans when they were playing. And there are doubts that the Packers will allow Aaron Rodgers to play again this season, too.
2. A number of historically good teams doing badly this season, especially the Giants and Broncos.
3. Who wants to watch the game at the stadium when the TV product is so much better?
Please telling yourself that nonsense and keep saying it as the first team files for bankruptcy then the next then the next and so on.
But we aren’t watching the games either. The sports bars are empty. I suspect the ratings are artificially higher than what the reality is.
Those players are still not the big names of the past. Dwindling interest. The thuggery of players like Seahawks guy who wanted to jump into the stands doesn’t inspire me to watch. Although it would have been interesting if he had made to the stands in Philly.
The Cowboys have been mediocre before, so have the Giants, Broncos, etc. ratings didn’t cave back then.
Force of habit would have kept us tuned in. 40+ years of watching NFL was ingrained in me and many others. It took this stupid protesting garbage to make me tune out.
I have been an Oklahoma University fan since I worked with a bunch of grad students during Severe Storm projects in Oklahoma back in ‘70. Glad to see them doing so well this year.
But, seeing their jersey prices top $100 is ridiculous.
They’re going pro while in College.
Very few colleges run pro set offenses anymore, so the drop back QB in college is obsolete.
The only way to win in the NFL if the QB to be a drop pack pocket passer.
The minor leagues no longer produce.
A ripple effect from the leftist commie Globe that the author cites, an article designed to water down the elephant in the room, and that elephant’s name is disrespect.
NFL no more.
I can get some football from College games, instead.
All about disrespect.
Wrong. Im a 48 yr old lifelong fanatic. I intentionally stayed away the past 2 years. My dad, brother and 2 sons have done the same.
The problem with the NFL are players that are childish, narcissistic, thin skinned and ungrateful.
Well, tonight we have the the hapless Dolphins leading the dominant Patriots at half time, with retread QB Jay Cutler really showing some stuff.
So if you’re looking for entertainment, I don’t know how you would be disappointed this Monday Night.
Wrong.
The product isn’t much different than it was a year or two ago. This is just another attempt to explain the drop in attendance without using the obvious explanation. Piss off your customer base and they stop being your customer base.
As I type this, I see empty seats all over in Miami for the Monday Night game against the Division rival Patriots.
Only dogs shit where they eat and the NF’nL players are going to find out why. These players are crapping all over the game and when they are out on the street they will be regretting it big time.
